Doctors recommend that if a person is going to start the Paxalovid treatment over five days, then they should temporarily stop taking blood pressure medication for the five days. Some statins as well, but not all of them. Other medications should also be checked against the list of medications that one shouldn't take with Paxlovid and reviewed with a doctor before stopping them.

One of the hospitals in our region has a good supply of Paxlovid, it requires a doctor's prescription, and the doctor requires both a positive antigen test and a positive PCR test before prescribing it. It also is limited to those over 65 and others with conditions that could result in serious illness if they get covid-19.

I couldn't do that safely. I'm on a beta blocker and missing doses can make you worse than when you started.

We've had new neighbors for at least a year and a half. She's a contract nurse and he can work remotely (I guess). Her contracts are so lucrative she "cannot turn down that much money". They have yet to live in their new house and I've never met them.

I agree, it depends on the type of blood pressure medication a person is taking. ACE inhibitors, the kind I take (not beta blocker) can safely be paused for 5 days while taking Paxlovid, but of course it is always important to check with your physician before making these decisions. Each individual might have a different medical situation.

I logged on to several vaccine registration sites in our region for the 2nd booster appointment, and you can pretty much get any date and time of day you want, I guess there aren't very many people getting the covid-19 vaccine and/or boosters any more.

I thought I might have to book ahead, but looks like that won't be necessary, you can pick a time you want even a day before, at many of the sites that are included, such as pharmacies, clinics, hospitals in the region.

From what I have read only 38% of eligible people got the third shot (booster): that really shocked me.

Similar in our state, lots of bonuses being offered to new hires to attract them to hospital employment. A lot of medical staff retired early or left their jobs during the pandemic and hospitals around the country are having a hard time re-building staffing levels.

My daughter works as an NP in the NICU in a large multi-hospital group. The hospital does use travel nurses to supplement the staff. However, the hospital is now offering and rewarding long-time employees a higher salary instead of offering high sign-on bonuses for new hires.

There is good news (sarcastic) and things to worry about be found everywhere. Haven't most variants evaded vaccine? Me and my DW caught it despite being triple jabbed and very careful. I think this virus will be here for the long haul unfortunately :-(

I don't see vaccine hesitancy getting any better- in fact I think it will get worse with more people refusing vaccines----social media a huge part of the reason with so much misinformation and disinformation---
