“As Dr. Moore has previously said, indicators are expected to rise as Ontarians increasingly interact with one another. However, thanks to our high vaccination rates and natural immunity, as well as the arrival of antivirals, Ontario has the tools necessary to manage the impact of the virus," a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health told Narcity”

What is your current vaccination rate?
I checked our area and it’s showing 57% which is dismal. JMO

90% of people, 5 years old and over, living in Ontario have had at least one dose.

On March 17th, I hosted a birthday party for my DH with 10 guests. Everyone was fully vaccinated, except three children and one adult had not yet had their booster. The next day, we learned that one of the children had been exposed to covid.

Within a week, all three children, plus the adult who had not had a booster, tested positive for covid. None of the people who had a booster tested positive nor had any symptoms.

I realise this outcome wouldn't be the same for everyone, but it gave me lots of confidence in the vaccination efficacy.

I was exposed to my relative with covid for multiple days. Relative was coughing. As far as I know I never got it (I never tested positive on in home tests). I had Moderna vax and booster.

Only 49% of adults are fully vaccinated in my area. It's abysmal.

Interesting and encouraging! Did the children or the adult who tested positive have symptoms?

My county has a vaccination rate of 61%--not much better. Only 13% have a booster.

The New York Times' worldwide vaccine tracker reports that 87% of Canadians have had one dose of a covid-19 vaccine, and UK is at 79% for one dose, and the U.S. is at 77%. This is national data.

Provincial and state and regional vaccination rates vary, of course.

The three children had no symptoms. They were tested every day and were positive for one day only. Their dad, who is an MD, said he would never have known the kids tested positive, had they not been testing every day.

The adult had symptoms of a sore throat, fever and a sore neck. She works from home and lives alone, so she can verify that she wasn't in contact with anyone before coming to our house. But since she worked from home, she didn't miss any work days.

New: Interesting report on a human challenge study in the UK that exposed healthy young volunteers to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

First human challenge study of Covid-19 yields valuable insights about how we get sick - CNN

...The study began in March 2021. The 36 volunteers were between the ages of 18 and 30. They were allowed to participate only if they didn’t have any risk factors for severe Covid-19, such as being overweight, having reduced kidney or liver function, or having any heart, lung or blood problems. They also signed an extensive informed consent form to participate....

...The volunteers got a tiny drop of fluid containing the originally detected strain of the virus through a long, thin tube inserted into their nose.

They were medically monitored 24 hours a day and stayed for two weeks in rooms at London’s Royal Free Hospital that had special air flow to keep the virus from escaping.

Half were infected
A total of 18 participants became infected, two of whom never developed symptoms. Among the people who got sick, their illnesses were mild. They had stuffy noses, congestion, sneezing and sore throats....

...This challenge study was so successful that Chiu plans to do it again, this time with vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant to study their immune response.

He says his team also plans to continue studying the people who didn’t get sick.

“That’s what’s really interesting,” he said. About half of the study participants never got sick and never developed antibodies, despite getting exactly the same dose of the virus.

Everyone was screened for antibodies to closely related viruses, like the original SARS virus. So it wasn’t cross-protection that kept them safe; it was something else....

Mr Pirate got his 4th dose about a week or so ago. He had very minimal side effects. He got it from Meijer and they only asked if his doctor recommended the booster and if he had underlying conditions. Yes to both. This was before the new guidance so maybe they will not even ask now.
Thanks for your response. I will go to Walmart Pharmacy Monday morning and ask for 2nd booster per doctor's orders. Will post the results.

Just got back from getting the 4th booster from Rite Aid. Easy-peasy. I chose to get Moderna again (all of mine have been Moderna).

Oh wow. I’m guessing they were using the rapid tests on a daily basis before and after the party.
I’m glad it didn’t spread any further in your group. Hope everyone had a good time otherwise!

Yes, fortunately we were all able to isolate before anyone went anywhere else.

I had my 4th shot yesterday. After three Moderna shots, I went with Pfizer, just to mix it up a little.

It was 1-2-3 at CVS. Recalling how extraordinarily difficult it was to get the very first shot, this was a breeze.

I have no reactions except the sore arm that is already fading, and I think I'm a little extra tired today. But that's the extent of it and I know I'll be fine tomorrow.

@jjenny, I am double vaxed with Moderna as of November, 2021 but yet have to have my booster. So would you advise a Moderna booster as well?
