I just tested positive. I’m not overly surprised with my husband having it. I woke up with a sore throat and aches in my legs (had those aches first time round) so took a test. Anyway, not so bad at this point. Oxygen 98%. And as he’s on the mend he can look after me! ;)

Sorry to hear this. I hope you recover quickly. Do you meet the guidelines for Covid medications?

Thank you, No, far from it over here! I don’t mind though - read conflicting accounts of some of them, so unless I need that help I feel ok about it.

Sorry, HKP! Wishing you well and sending you a hug.

Really pleased to hear that Mr HKP is well enough to take care of you.

Thinking of you. x x

Oh, I am sorry you tested positive, but like you said, you are not surprised. You have a great optimistic outlook on life and that will help get you through this. Now your husband can take care of you!!!!

Heard a rumor through the Retirement Home grapevine that our director is going to announce that "there is no more Covid in the building" today.
Just in time for BA.5 folks. Which no one seems to know/hear anything about.
Not that a single person is taking any measures to assure they won't bring it back....I am sure she will announce no more masks for staff...as that seems to be the way it goes, they mask when there is Covid and unmask when there are no cases. *sigh*

Sorry to hear this :( I hope your symptoms don't get too bad and that you recover quickly from this current bout with Covid.
Please don't try to do too much and let Mr. HKP take care of you. Be well.

I'm surprised that the state department overseeing retirement homes doesn't take action. Does the retirement home have an assisted living section?

No - it's completely Independent Living.

These kits are free from the federal government right now, if you haven't ordered them recently. Each address can order four test kits and there are two tests in each kit, so 8 free tests per address.
We ordered 2 kits back when they were first made available and ordered the other 2 kits recently. The tests we recently received have FIVE tests in each box!

I never realized pharmacists can prescribe anything. Is this a new thing just for this pill?
The pharmacy prescribed a month of birth control pills (ortho-tri-cyclen lo) for me when mine ran out a few weeks before my yearly exam. I didn’t know they could do that either — until they did. But I assume they can only prescribe certain medications from an approved FDA list?

This is the test kit I used. I tested positive last Saturday and tested again today and still positive. I was sick with a sore throat for 1 week and tested negative that whole time. The next week it went to my sinuses and chest still tested negative. I also had pink eye. So I went to the Dr on Wednesday June 29th and she treated me for pink eye, sinus infection and bronchitis. Then by Saturday the 2nd I tested positive. Went back to the Dr on Wednesday July 6th to be revaluated. Dr was concerned about my o2 stats they were low. I had to report to her yesterday and today and it seems they are starting to go back up. I slept from Saturday until Monday, not non stop just the biggest part of the time. I could hardly eat, some broth and jello was about it. Starting to feel a little better still tired and weak.

I was vaccinated and double boosted.

There is a test to treat close to my residence. I looked up the locations in case I would need it.

Vaccines don't work well against infections and symptoms of the new BA.5 subvariant. They presumably still help to decrease severity and deaths.

Thank you! He is about back to normal, other than a cough. I feel like I have a horrible cold with a v sore throat. V different to 2020, thankfully.

@HongKongPhooey I am glad Mr. HKP is feeling better. Also good that your Covid this time is not like the last. I am sorry though, and hope you round the corner soon. Do you drink tea? The steam from tea tends to open my nose as I sip when I have a bad cold.
