Keeneland Unveils New Protocols For Spring Meet To Deal With Coronavirus - Horse Racing News | Paulick Report

Keeneland is addressing the surface-contamination aspect of the virus, but is ignoring the person-to-personS transmission possibilities. I won't be surprised if they change their tune w/in the next few days. IMO

Should have been before now, but before now it was just a flu. Nothing to worry about.....

Next person that I encounter that tells me “it’s just the flu” is going to get a ...oh wait never mind...I won’t be encountering any people. Good for them or I might just bite their heads completely off! I couldn’t be happier about staying at home, for more reasons than just the protecting of myself and others, but also because I can’t deal with idiots! I just can’t. Especially without yoga.

Mayor DiBlasio on MSNBC currently discussing CV and answering questions.

Brief transcript of what his answer were. You can probably deduce the questions:

Saint Patrick's Day - outside event, less suceptibility to spread of infection, so not cancelling yet. All outdoor events "safer."

Don't want to shut down the lives of healthy population, but want to place barriers to protect less healthy and older population.

Transmissibilty (new word he recently learned) = person to person close contact spread, not from people way across the room.

Transparency - test significant people, travelers, people who have been in contact with others or in locations where present.

If have initials symptoms, start with self isolation.

Trying to avoid degradation of every day life and financial life, and promote survivability for citizens.

He hopes to not have to use powers (that he does have) to shut down everything.

O.M.G. Please someone send him the notes on the 1918 flu when Philly mayor held parade for 200,000 while St Louis mayor shut the city down (against the wishes of business, financial, elite, etc. of the time), and the mortality outcomes in each city. What a f'ing idiot.

I agree! It will definitely be unlike spring in KY if we have no spring meet, but I already know I won’t be cheering on my fave & standing in long lines.

Before a Pandemic
  • Store a two week supply of water and food.
  • Periodically check your regular prescription drugs to ensure a continuous supply in your home.
  • Have any nonprescription drugs and other health supplies on hand, including pain relievers, stomach remedies, cough and cold medicines, fluids with electrolytes, and vitamins.
  • Get copies and maintain electronic versions of health records from doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other sources and store them, for personal reference. Get help accessing electronic health records.
  • Talk with family members and loved ones about how they would be cared for if they got sick, or what will be needed to care for them in your home.
During a Pandemic
Limit the Spread of Germs and Prevent Infection

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
  • Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Practice other good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

I don't understand having gatherings of 1000 people, or 250 people, or any people. These arbitrary limits are insane and dangerous. Sigh.

No reason to go without your yoga. Youtube has tons of yoga videos in every style and level! I'll be downward-dogging right along with you, in spirit! IMO

I was supposed to have my first "real Vacay ( yes @ 54 years old first grown up go somewhere! ) next week and we cancelled everything and I am NOT MOVING ! so essentially I really don't feel sorry for people "giving up" their spring break plans , just get over it , I did in about 5 seconds and literally I have been no where for 35 years, its not that bad !!!

OK, This IS the funniest thing I've seen in pages and pages of this tragedy.

If it was me, I would teleconference the entire conference. Seriously! You don't need to be in the same room to have meetings about deadly viruses, folks!
