We know what they know.....some Americans choose to discount it. China has lived it and knows the truth and why Wuhan is still locked down.
Because we have been so slow to act, I predict we will have at least 3 Wuhan type environments or more...Seattle, San Francisco, and New York. I hold EVERYONE IN OUR GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR LACK OF ACTION. They had this info 2 months ago.
AMERICAN HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION FORECAST
- 4.8 million hospitalizations associated with the novel coronavirus
- 96 million cases overall in the US
- 480,000 deaths
- Overall, the slide points out that hospitals should prepare for an impact to the system that's 10 times a severe flu season.
Presentation: US hospitals preparing for millions of hospitalizations - Business Insider
CDC worse case ESTIMATES:
infect between 160 million and 214 million people over a period of more than a year
Deaths 200,000 to 1.7 million people
CDC’s Worst-Case Coronavirus Model: 214 Million Infected, 1.7 Million Dead
NONPROFIT RESOLVE TO SAVE LIVES AND THE COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS:
estimated that if half of Americans contract COVID-19, anywhere from 163,500 to 1.6 million people could be killed. The lower value assumes fatality rate similar to the flu, which we already know its higher than that.

I’m late to the party today and still in catch up mode, but I wanted to add my thoughts to this post. I agree with
@Henry2326 assessment, but I’m afraid my list is a little longer. IMO, and only my opinion, I’d have to add most of the west coast and Florida to this list. Not just because of the numbers being reported - the lack of testing just doesn’t reflect the true scope of where each location is actually at right now, but the locations that handle an abundance of international flights will be the most prone to early community spread.
In regards to the government knowing more....
America, Canada, most of Europe, etc,... will not handle Wuhan type scenarios very well. We’re really JUST GETTING STARTED with this battle with COVID-19, and look at what’s taking place already!!
I’m not trying to promote gloom and doom, but trying to hide from the reality of where we’re at and where we’re heading really doesn’t help anyone. The actions taken by our government and large corporations across America over the past few days are excellent steps towards mitigation. These actions will have a profound effect in shortening the amount of time it will take this virus to peak. But in all honesty, these steps should have occurred weeks ago to avoid an onslaught of infected individuals that will all need medical care at the same time. I’ve said it before, there will be a price to be paid for the lack of testing from the beginning. So, in short, I think the “more going on” is the very real concern that we will experience a period of social breakdown in various areas.
Communication is key at this point, that’s not to say the government should announce their worst case scenarios to the general public right now, but the language and definition of what to expect next needs to escalate as we move forward. People need time to acclimate their mindsets as the situation progresses, but getting the public at large to understand that THIS STORM WILL PASS will be even more important.
This viral outbreak is an absolutely horrible event for all of mankind - but it has become our current reality. We have to tackle it the best we can, with our eyes wide open - but we CAN NOT LOSE SIGHT OF THE HOPE that lies beyond.
I’m in the high risk category for a couple of reasons, I’m acting with a fair amount of caution, but my real concern lies with the future that will be defined by our actions today.
America’s greatest generation is most at risk right now - hopefully our generation will be described in much the same way when viewed through the eyes of history.
As always, moo.....
And, as always lately, I hope that parts of my opinions are incorrect....
Stay strong, stay safe, be vigilant!
This too shall pass....
