This is the first time that I have seen this advice. Tylenol has never worked as a pain reliever for me. Ibuprofen always helps. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any tips from our medical people? Thank you in Advance.

I never use Tylenol. It causes supposedly "reversible mitochondrial damage" in low doses and irreversible in larger. I have defects in my mitochondria already. No thanks

I’ve been thinking about @KALI a lot too. I’m a small business owner as well although it’s not at all the same thing but I understand the vulnerability of small business owners and my heart is breaking for everyone suffering with this.

This is a disaster. I don’t even know what everything will look like at the end of this.

"Ain't" that the truth... The entire world has been brought to its knees by an infintesmally small microbe. :(

I'm worrying big time about your @book-thinker . Are you somewhere where you can get tested? It might actually put your mind at ease to know what you do or don't have.

And sorry for being overly nosey...do you have someone there with you or someone you can call for assistance?
That’s the thing. I’m beginning to think there’s a chance I might have it.
We have a limited supply of the tests.

I am right there with you. My oldest daughter is 8.5 mos pregnant. She is so scared for the little life she is bringing into this uncertain world. What should be a very happy time is now full of worry and fear. My oldest son is 2 months from graduating with is masters from LIU. Instead of relishing in the next two months after years of hard work, he is sitting home. Self quarantined because his instructor and one classmate already have full blow CV, lab tested. Graduation ceremonies already cancelled. My heard breaks for him. He will know Monday if the bad cough he has is CV. My younger daughter was planning her dream wedding for years, set to happen in June. She will get married but nothing else will be the same. Her shower was supposed to be tomorrow. Canceled.

I am sorry to unload. My heart is broken for ALL of our young people.

Oh I’m so sorry for you and your kids!

It’s really like a world war.

I know we are ALL sending your son well wishes and love and prayers that he’s going to be well soon and doesn’t have this.

I'm of the school that people have to prepare for the worst in items like these.

"Worst case" for me right now living in the United States would be a breakdown in supply chains, coinciding with chain and small businesses closing indefinitely. I walked last evening here in Fort Wayne, several businesses right outside the downtown area are closed indefinitely.

Wait until the corner stores, the gas stations, and other things people often depend upon on a daily or at least weekly basis shut down. The municipal bus companies. Etc.

The virus will be bad enough, people who can't handle reality all that well, especially for short-term needs because they can't or won't plan ahead, and what might happen as this unfolds I fear more.

We have been discussing diarrhea since the early days, aka “APVLA” which is “Aerosol Plumes of Virus-Laden Diarrhea”, and other fecal-related matters including the “fecal to oral” connection.

Gastrointestinal Symptoms Could Be New Focus for Coronavirus Diagnosis
Just because some of us didn’t post on earlier threads does not mean we didn’t follow the news. There happens to be many sources one can follow and/or discuss the crisis. I did not like the tone/arguing on many of the earlier threads. Moo

Oh great! I’m totally stocked on ibuprofen and children’s ibuprofen! Now I’ve gotta go back to the store?!

What are your professional thoughts about cough medicine? My belief has been if you’re coughing up gunk it’s best to keep coughing and take an expectorant only. I found that for me but only expectorant/ cough suppressant for my 4 year old.... if we get it what’s best to take or not take regarding cough?
IMO the best answer should come from your GP or health provider. In my county I've received emails from several health providers which include links to nurse hotlines set up to answer questions. If you haven't received any such notices call your doctor on Monday - they'll be happy to answer questions - or check online for a county link to help you. Local health departments are on call to address what you should or should not be doing.

It's scary right now since people are trying to figure out what cold/flu/corona virus supplies to have on hand and use in case of sickness but the best source for information is the health department or your doctor. Better safe than sorry IMO.

There are still nay sayers walking among us. Bexar Co. southern San Antonio not yet hit. Many are still questioning and comparing to the flu. Two weeks behind IMO.

Yes, a dry cough

Dry coughs are terrible! Do you have a humidifier going? Good, you got the Honey. Do you have any Butterscotch hard candies? How about that spray for dry mouth Biotene… would that help?

I am not prepared for a cough. I only have old cough medicine here and no humidifier.

Wait, I do have an ancient bottle of Jägermeister liquor, only saved it because it tastes just like cough syrup. Come to find out-- a digestif made with 56 herbs and spices. Do you have Jäger? Hope you start to feel better. Keep us posted.

My personal belief is that with the coronavirus it is a dry cough.
I stocked up on guaifenesin 600 mg.
Now I believe it won't help.
When the alveoli deep in the lungs fill up with fluid, there perhaps is no way to get the fluid up.
It interferes with the oxygen exchange and even a ventilator is of no assistance.
Coronavirus no runny nose, no congestion, just short of breath and the feeling of drowning with a high fever.
IMHO, keeping your mucus membranes moist, nasal saline, moisturizing eye drops and (perhaps) a cool humidifier in the room may lower the impact of the virus invading your body.
That is debatable because I have heard the opposite on humidity.
I do know that moist mucus membranes = less hand to face contact.
I did start taking Claritin as we are upon allergy season, hence itchy nose and eyes.
It "appears" not having hand to face contact is being stressed.
For me, this is the only way to lessen it.
My personal opinions are in no way saying anyone else should do as I did.
Moo

It's painful to put your dreams on hold or to have them snatched away.
Change can be unnerving for young people, they must all feel a bit lost right now.

That sucks. We at this time should have enough tests, we had more than enough time.

Having lived through a hurricane with power out for several weeks, I am not so sure really hoarding frozen food is such a good idea. If electricity goes out, there go your frozen foods. I think canned goods is the way to go.

Unless you live where I live. Temperatures are still below freezing at night and lots and lots of snow still on the ground. Days are sometimes above freezing now but I could put my food in my garage or in my snowbank with no problem!

Yep, hurricanes tend to strike places where you can't re-freeze your frozen foods outside of electricity is out.
