Good morning everyone. I hope you are all well and safe.

Over 100 cases (106) now documented in Florida. I'm sure there are lots more. Hopefully testing will require less stringent requirements to demonstrate more correct numbers. In my area, if there's no travel or no KNOWN contact with someone with covid-19, then you don't qualify for testing. The obvious problem is that we now know people can be contagious without showing symptoms.

Well just went on a toilet paper hunt- out- completely out- at Publix and Walmart - i asked when they would be getting some in- they have no friggin idea: all those people who hoarded it- who would have thought that would be the first thing on your mind??? ridiculous. There are options of course like Kleenex and napkins, even towel paper- it is not urgent at this point to get TP but i am gobsmacked that people hoarded the stuff----

I hope all those healthy people buying up all the TP were buying some for their elderly neighbors who are the ones who shouldn’t be exposed and not just hoarding it for themselves.

Actually I do. This federal administration has taken steps that have never been taken before trying to keep our country as a safe as possible. One of the best decisions was quickly banning anyone from coming in from China.

I think they all are working tirelessly each, and everyday. The experts, and doctors are some of the best in the world.

Who I DO NOT trust are many of our own citizens or those who are here for whatever reason who seem to not care one bit if they have it, or if they give it to someone else.

When we have a deadly virus like this ignorance can be as deadly, and dangerous as the virus. Unfortunately I think we have many who dont care about personal hygiene to protect themselves much less gives a flying flip about protecting others.

The federal government can't fix stupid or those who are reckless.

I trust the system of checks and balances and transparency that still remains in the federal government. That's not to say there aren't things to beware of, but its up to us, the public, to protect our interests.

But the federal government (and all of it's many institutes of health, sciences, etc) is the only entity set up to manage this. Our parents and grandparents set it up this way and this is the best way to do it.

There's a big instruction manual in DC somewhere that tells everyone what to do. Time for them to all get busy and stop with obstructionism, private profiteering, grandstanding, etc.

Last night....3/14/20....glad the odds are 1 in 4600 now rather than June at 1 to 2 to get it.....

This is the scene at O’Hare airport. The traveler who took the photo said it’s a 6-hour wait for bags then on to customs for 2-4 more of waiting in shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. Governor Tim Walz has announced that Minnesota's schools will close down for two weeks as of Wednesday.

The governor has signed an executive order authorizing the closure of the state's K-12 public schools starting Wednesday until Friday, Mar. 27.

(It's a good thing he came to his senses. Although, I don't understand why we are sending them to school Monday and Tuesday)

i think the criteria is absurd: everyone and their mother now knows that people who have not left this country have contracted
the virus.- it is IMO nazi-like criteria---- it is maddening.

This is going to continue for a couple months at least. The sooner everyone accepts that, the better. It's scheduled to peak around late April to early May.

This is MOO and not in response to any particular post.

My H and I went out for a walk during the day yesterday and visited a few local bars that were holding St. Patrick's day events. We chose the emptiest bars, did not sit next to anyone, drank draft beer from plastic cups, which were not reused, spoke with the bartenders and a few patrons from a distance and washed our hands frequently. For some that would seem irresponsible or crazy, but we felt that we conducted ourselves responsibly and in keeping with current expert guidance.

I have a hair appointment this Tuesday and the salon just called to confirm it and to share that they are taking precautions to help ensure the health of their patrons and staff. I am going to keep the appointment and feel that the steps the salon and I are taking are responsible and in keeping with curent expert guidance.

I recognize things could change and greater precautions may become necessary, but for now I am not cutting off all social contact.

Wishing everyone good health and a quick end to the pandemic.

Oh, for God’s sake. Can people not live without St Pat’s day for one freaking year...for the sake of humanity? Some people’s inability to take social distancing seriously is going to endanger all the rest of us. IMO.
(Sorry for rant on your post—clearly not directed at you.)

True, people really need to watch the PBS American Experience Influenza 1918. There are many similarities and differences in our experience. But the importance of social distancing was duly noted by researchers when studying for current guidelines. The people of 1918 didn't stand a chance because the pathogen was a mysterious entity at that time. But now, we know better. Let's not let history repeat. Thanks.

I got my hair cut this week: it is a small salon and the lady that
cuts my hair owns it- she has a sign on the door that if someone is sick don't bother to come in: she says if they dare cough or sneeze she will throw them out.

It looks like authorities are having to extrapolate what they perceive to be the correct numbers due to the lack of testing. I'm sure the formula is similar for every state.

"A top health official in Ohio estimated on Thursday that more than 100,000 people in the state have coronavirus, a shockingly high number that underscores the limited testing so far.

It’s so scary right now. A lot of people have spring allergies with sneezing and an occasional cough. If I sneeze at work tomorrow after they refused to shut down, am I going to be a pariah? I actually hope I am so others will stay away from me.
