Use them. You'll feel better to stay in shape. I have them plus a bench and also an elliptical and I use them all the time when I can't get to the gym, and if I can't walk outside.

You can still leave the tags on while using them.
I'm one who is typically not motivated to workout at home, BUT that's been because I have always had the option of going to the gym. In this situation I think (hope) I will keep up with my home workouts. I audio recorded my strength training class last week so hopefully that will help motivate me.

My nurse friend told me this is just one of the patients at Grand Strand hospital. The others will not be announced until confirmed by CDC. One of the other local hospitals now has 3 being tested. One of those patients waiting for test results has had some improvement today.

Effects of coronavirus fear hit Las Vegas economy hard

I am really waiting for banks to give people a break on mortgages. This is a catastrophe for folks who rely on tips for a majority of their income.

I am very critical of Mayor Goodman, in Las Vegas, who has continued to say, "We are open for business.". Fortunately, most people are listening to more credible sources, like Dr. Fauci.

If you have Amazon Prime they have a bunch of free workout videos if you burn out the one have. Or at least they did a few months ago. They have yoga, Pilates, cardio, Zumba, HIIT. I don’t know if Netflix has any or not. And YouTube of course is packed with workout.

A very sensible attitude. I went out for a pub lunch yesterday (for a birthday) and was pleased to see it was as thriving as ever. I may minimise / cherry pick a few events to miss but other than that life must go on for those that are healthy and able.

PS I can't recall who mentioned businesses doing gift vouchers, but after a heartfelt plea from a local cake shop on FB I have made that suggestion and they were very grateful for it. Lots of support from customers for the idea too, I hope it helps them get through these next few weeks.

We have a birthday dinner out tonight for one of our adult sons. We don’t have any immune compromised at home, and no risk factors. If people who have family members with or personal risk factors are out- why? Running into the store full of people ? Get it delivered. They need to self quarantine if they went out. We have volunteered to shop, and so have many others. If people want to stay home: great! Everyone here has to work and schools are open. If one chooses not to send their kids, again, great! Our businesses here need customers.
It’s been flu season for months. At risk people I know stocked up last fall...

The Trump administration has offered a German medical company “large sums of money” for exclusive access to a Covid-19 vaccine, German media have reported.

The German government is trying to fight off what it sees as an aggressive takeover bid by the US, the broadsheet Die Welt reports, citing German government circles.

The US president had offered the Tübingen-based biopharmaceutical company CureVac “large sums of money” to gain exclusive access to their work, wrote Die Welt.

According to an anonymous source quoted in the newspaper, Trump was doing everything to secure a vaccine against the coronavirus for the US, “but for the US only”.

If this is true, it is completely unethical and unacceptably mercenary.

I have to assume this is false

Does anyone else have a spouse who thinks you are being too careful? My husband is repeatedly annoyed with me, and I'm frustrated with the risks he's taking and exposing us to.

My husband has come around. I started preparing/shopping 2 weeks ago. When he and my teenage daughter thought I was over reacting, I remember reading what some will call crazy now will look smart in 3 weeks. So here we are. Daughter is still resistant—wants to hang out with best friends since no school. Ummm....that’s a no.

Friday, I kept having to remind myself to eat meals. I can count on the fingers of both hands the times I have been too upset to get hungry in my life.
Please take care of yourself to keep your immunity up. Most everyone here is doing all of the right things. Do something which brings you happiness each day such as reading, a warm bath, meditation. There are great youtubes out that help with de-stressing. I totally understand and feel the same way at times. Lately, I've been so glad to wake feeling healthy (maybe because I'm high risk). I guess that's one positive thing from this craziness. We're all in this together.

Outer Banks restaurant offers free toilet paper with meals amid coronavirus shortages

As the coronavirus panic continues to empty store shelves of necessities, one Outer Banks restaurant is trying a unique way to keep customers coming: The promise of tough-to-find toilet paper.

“Free roll of toilet paper with every entree,” Dirty Dick’s Crab House posted Saturday outside its restaurant in coastal Nags Head, North Carolina.

“These may be trying times butt you can rest assured that we’ve got you covered on both sides!! C’mon in and get your roll(s) of free TP!!” the restaurant added in a Facebook share of the sign.

Reading my personal Facebook feed is enlightening and infuriating. I’m honestly shocked at the cavalier attitude so many are showing. Block, scroll and roll are my friend.

Personally, I’m supposed to leave on Wednesday for a much needed girls trip with my sister and daughter to a beach. No way do I want to go and be exposed or risk exposing. But oh so many are going.

One thing that I have not seen discussed or mentioned is what will happen to our cases because of this influx of travel, and exposure to public places and people during spring breaks in the US. My prediction is that it will increase the spread and growth rate.

When we as a nation see limited hospital beds and all other icu emergencies having problems being handled or treated, maybe then we will take this serious.

If they are in good health and courteous and cautious, really, Florida isn’t a bad place to be. It was 80 yesterday and the virus doesn’t like heat. Now, if all they do is sit in an air conditioned building, breathing recirculating air, then they may as well stay home. But if their plan is to roast on a beach under the hot sun, swim in salt water, etc. that’s not a horrible idea. The beaches are free and after all, what exactly do you think everyone is doing with their kids for 2-3 weeks? They’re at the state parks, hiking in the woods, tubing in the rivers, baking at the beach, boating, zipping around on their jet skis, and then napping in the afternoon. Many of the bars are open air, tiki type bars. They’re not closed up petri dishes. My point being, environment plays a huge role.

True, but the large population of Florida that would fall into the "high-risk" catgory means healthcare facilities will be extremely stressed and overwhelmed should the virus take hold aggressively as it has in Itay or now, Spain.

Right now, I would consider Wisconsin a much safer place than Florida, IMHO

For anyone here (or your loved ones) who use inhalers or nasal sprays, be sure to clean them thoroughly after use. I rinse mine off under hot tap water after every use. I rarely need the rescue inhaler that I always have in my purse, so it hadn't been cleaned in a while. I wiped it off with a Clorox wipe on Friday. So many things to think about, but we need to do everything we can to keep ourselves and loved ones healthy.

MINNESOTA

Minnesota, with 35 cases, just canceled school statewide until the end of March. My district already has long-distance learning capability set up. We used it earlier this year for a snow day. But some really great facets to what is happening here.

Schools will stay open for children of first responders, health care workers, teachers and others who have to work through the statewide shutdown. If you want these parents to work, MN leadership @GovTimWalz realizes their kids have to be taken care of.

The state also expects schools to continue paying hourly workers like bus drivers and lunch servers through the shut down, and include them in planning. Bus drivers delivering free and reduced price meals? Kids need those too. A new younger version of Meals on Wheels.

are there state by state websites set up or only the john hopkins one? i have not been able to find much info about mississippi, except that they only have 1 case (which i find ridiculously impossible. i bet they don't have tests). i am in sweden, but i am from mississippi, and my entire family is there. seeing how quickly it's spreading across the states now, it can only be a matter of time before it's widespread. sigh...

As of yesterday, we (Mississippi) had six documented cases. I agree though, state government has been way too quiet about this. Actually, the governor and his family just arrived back in the country on Friday after spending a week in Spain for a soccer tournament!

My area schools (not all) have extended Spring Break for another week and many (not all) live church services were cancelled this morning.

I’ll take one on the chin for this. That high risk population needs to stay home or pick up. Their caregivers need to stay home or pick up. I don’t want to hear delivery is expensive, because a month is the hospital is far more expensive. Drive up is free. The state local and federal governments, neighbors and churches should be ensuring our most vulnerable have what they need to stay home.

My husband is taking this seriously. BUT!!! He is a social butterfly and broke quarantine to talk to the gardener next door about getting our lawn aerated. He was close enough to the guy to get a flyer which he brought home. I explained to him how bad that was, and barely spoke to him the rest of the day. I am still angry this morning.

I don't want to get sick. But I could not live with myself if I got my husband sick and he died. We are both in the vulnerable group.

Self isolation will be hard for my husband.
Yes, this is why I hope this works to get a handle on things fairly quickly. This level of shut down and isolation isn’t sustainable for very long.
