Going forward - slow the curve replaced with "slow the wave" Must expect significant inflow to hospitals, Fed Gov't needs to get Army Corps of Engineers to build backup medical capacity, expand hospital capacity.

If Fed Gov't does not act, states must act. Will organize National Guard and developers . Find available able faculties that can be converted. NYC - 5,000 beds. We need Federal assistance.

Cases will rise in most dense areas. And since testing has increased.

Today on BBC ( and CNN) there was an interview with the Ex-CEO of PIMCO, the very sage Mohammed El-Erian. He has some real severe things to say about the Federal Reserves actions this weekend. If you don't know who he is, check him out. He is one of the few financial talking heads who is really really worth listening to because of his succinct, understandable, and pertinent comments:

The governors of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut announced wide business closures starting at 8 p.m. Monday to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus. Here's what you need to know:

When are they closing and for how long?

A friend of mine is quarantined because he has been in Summit county CO within the past week. There is a 4 county area in CO with high levels of community transmission. Summit county is one of them.

Oh my gosh, That's where we took our yearly ski trips for over 30 years. I can't believe it, all the ski resorts closed.

Things changed quickly Saturday afternoon, when Vail Resorts announced it would close its mountains across North America. Alterra Mountain Co. and independently owned ski areas quickly followed suit.

My friend is due in early April and it's increasingly looking like she may have to go it alone. The hospitals have seriously restricted visitation and they're considering banning visitors altogether. She's mentally preparing to give birth without her husband or any family by her side.

Please keep others in mind when you shop. She has gestational diabetes and is having a difficult time finding enough appropriate food at the store. Shelves in her area are absolutely wiped out.

I'm absolutely sick worried about her. I feel totally helpess and don't even really know how to comfort her.

Oh my goodness. Please have her reach out to a local church. Some don't even worry about "if you qualify" and you just sign in. Many have fresh meats and produce donated. It must be so scary for her and I do hope they allow her husband to be with her. Many blessings and prayers to her.

I have been prepping bit by bit. But I hadn't anticipated the severe world-wide financial impact that will very much change the comfort and financial safety of billions of people.

And that the change in socializing and daily life is going to go on for at least 6 months

I work from home, but the office in Charleston sent a message that the cupcake truck is outside and go line up to buy cupcakes.....Geez....these are actually smart people, most of the time. I sent a message to not let anyone do that.

Just spent almost $400,000 on a receiving line that throws and sorts itself, letting the receiving team to not come in to work.

A sign of the times, would have lost my job with a purchase like that a month ago

I am a big believer in self-isolating but until there is a statewide shutdown, I am forced to come to work every day. I can't use 2 weeks of vacation/sick leave for the next 2 weeks, what if I eventually do get sick and need that time?!?

West Texas 2nd Expedition trip today report - Wal-Mart - A little busier than normal. Out of all kitchen basics except coffee and sugar. Limited sugar and peanut butter. Barely any red meat or hamburger. Plenty of pork , chicken, cheeses , and lunch meats. Had milk and eggs. Limited bread. No paper goods of any kind. When checking out was asked by checker "How many plastic bags do you need ?" Business is so big that they are running out of plastic bags.....Gas and cigarettes place. No problems.....Pet Smart - Dog food was in stock. Was surprised as there have been "runs" on dog food in this area........ All dining out/in food places are open. There is less business at them though.......Normal amount of people out on the streets at this time of the week, even though schools are closed ...... Except for food shortages and school closings it is "business as usual " out here in the West Texas oil patch. There is anxiety about possible future job losses due to the price of oil going way down...... As I mentioned yesterday, there are already buying runs on certain types of firearms and ammo going on for the last 4 or 5 days.......moo

I'm not the least bit surprised. Imo, gun, and ammo sales will continue to skyrocket.

What terrifies me is legal gunowners buying these weapons for their own protection, and their loved ones may very well windup having to use them.

One thing every law abiding gunowner hopes for is none will never have any occasion where they are forced to use their firearm against anyone. Now due to this deadly virus they may have no choice.

But during times of crisis the violence against others seems to rise, and this crisis affects every part of our nation. The longer it goes on citizens will have to protect what they have inside their homes whether its food, cash or any other items that may be in our homes,and themselves. The drug addicts will be looking to supply their addiction anyway they can.

Simple things found inside of all homes will become targeted items the longer this goes own.

Those who do not have the capability of making their own bullets will flood gun, and ammo stores to buy, and stockpile ammo.

It literally could become every man, and woman are on their own. So they will prepare to do everything in their power to protect themselves, children, and other family members.

I've missed several threads over the weekend so I'm not sure if any of the other Arkansans on the board have posted any stats for us. Currently, we're at 22. Yesterday it was 16. Last Thursday, we had 6.

Below is a text from a friend checking up on us this morning.

Cool. I went shopping over the weekend. Sunday Costco had toilet paper for the first time in a week. A sign saying , Limit one per customer." Finally. People are driving me nuts. One person told me they were shopping and the store just put out a case of hand sanitizer. She took two and a Fireman next to here took two. The next lady took the rest of the case and pu it in here cart. The Fireman went over to here cart and took two out, put them in her cart and put the case back on the shelf. Ha ha

At a minimum I would hope her husband could be tested (and be SARS-CoV-2 negative) so he can be there for the birth. I just can't understand banning a woman's support person during birth
