Implode the VA. It would be cheaper to give veterans a card like "VetCare", and let them get services in their own community. especially since they will not support the mission of supporting civilian hospitals in time of crisis.

If I did everything on hot nothing would fit! Just to spite me if nothing else.

I hung a clothesline on my balcony and often handwash my clothes, but it's hard on my hands to wring out bulky stuff.
I use hot also to make sure I never pick up bed bugs. Oh, I miss my own washer/dryer so, so, so much.
Today I did mainly sheets, towels, nighties, so hot was fine. Those would be impossible to wring out by hand.
I feel good that I did the laundry...I hope I don't die from it.
P.S. I hung two signs near the entry elevators-- "Don't kill Nan, Wash Yer Hands!"

Italy has 27,980 infected people, 3233 new cases today.
Total deaths are 2198, todays deaths are 349.
It doesn't sound like they have a handle on it.
1851 are in critical condition.
Total cases per million population in Italy: 462.8
Total cases per million population in China: 56.2
Mortality rate in Italy today: 7.8%
Last time I checked it was 6.2%

Hopefully they will work that out. So many children from low-income families rely on school meals, so it's important that the school system finds safe ways to continue providing them.

Praying for all first responders. My brother-in-law is a flight paramedic. Today he responded to a recently confirmed COVID-19 patient who'd become critical.

Spring Breakers will be sorely disappointed coming to Southern California where bars are closing. Sorry, no beach bars this month. I wonder if they'll try to party in Tijuana. Tomorrow is usually a big drinking day, but hopefully with less drunk drivers maybe some lives will be saved on the highways.
Listening to all this Help being put in place, I am amazed at all the wonderful companies and people willing to do an act of kindness for fellow human beings. I bow to you.

“Americans face increasing stringent guidelines about social distancing and group gatherings and some governments are now telling residents not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
A day after the CDC urged all gatherings of 50 or more people to be canceled or postponed for the next eight weeks, the White House offered even more stringent guidelines.
The Trump administration says people should not gather in groups of more than 10 and asked Americans to stay away from bars, restaurants and food courts for the next 15 days, and to not travel if possible.
"I believe the people in the United States (should) take them seriously because they were based on some rather serious consideration back and forth," Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert. "Some may look at them and say they're going to be really inconvenient for people. Some will look and say, well, maybe we've gone a little bit too far. They were well thought out."”

Nearly 80 million jobs in the US economy are at high or moderate risk today, according to analysis in the last week from Moody's Analytics. That's more than half of the 153 million jobs in the economy overall.”

“That doesn't mean that all those jobs will be lost. But it's probable that as many as 10 million of those workers could see some impact to their paychecks -- either layoffs, furloughs, fewer hours or wage cuts, said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics.
Of those 80 million jobs, Moody's Analytics projects that 27 million are at high risk due to the virus, primarily in transportation and travel, leisure and hospitality, temporary help services and oil drilling and extraction. Maybe 20% of those workers, comprising about 5 million jobs, will be affected, Zandi said.
The other 52 million jobs are judged to face "moderate risk." They are in areas such as retail, manufacturing, construction and education. Some 5 million of those workers are could be unemployed or underemployed.
"People are going to be buying less of everything. The stock market is down and wiping out people's nest eggs," Zandi said. "They're worried 'Am I going to get sick? Are my parents going to get sick?' That's a prescription for people going into the bunker and for job losses."
The shock to the economy could come quickly. When the job changes in the coming week are counted it could show a loss of as many as 1 million jobs, according to Kevin Hassett, the former chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors under President Donald Trump.”
