Some people pulled up in front of my house and went next door. Came out with camping gear, fishing nets and a long gun. Loaded up and took off.
Primitive camping, off grid. Not a bad idea. I wonder if they packed TP?

5:33 pm... DAYUM! That's like when there was the Olympics. No one was on the interstates. It was surreal. So, Atlanta major industries that were around at that time are perhaps very familiar with telecommuting?

Speaking of the Olympics, I don’t think many countries (USA included) will be sending athletes to Japan if this virus continues over the summer.

Here’s how scary it can be. My aunt and uncle, both in their late 60s, are cancer survivors. They are in recent (less than 1 year) remission. Both were diagnosed with “community viral pneumonia” late last week. Both on meds, inhalers, & quarantined at home. It started as a cold but progressed. Their Florida mobile home community closed the pools and cancelled all activities. It’s an all age community with tons of families.

My other aunt and uncle are also in Florida, but in a retirement community that accepts you when you’re healthy, and continues care as you decline. Their community has been closed off. No visitors, limited deliveries.

Both couples are on the east coast. I’m on the west coast. My visit has been postponed. I’m sad but totally understand as I am also a cancer patient.

Stay home, please. It took me 57 years to find my family. (DNA) I don't want to lose them before I get to know them, just because of ignorant fools!

sending you virtual hugs

In ‘defining moment,’ San Francisco to order residents to stay home over coronavirus - The San Francisco Examiner

STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES

Wow a complete Wuhan shutdown, praying for these people. It’s not going to be easy. At least ITALY let their citizens roam the streets.

How is San Francisco going to handle the homeless?

refused to shut down restaurants, bars, spring
break gatherers, etc.

Oh well that's just great! Thousands of Spring Breakers packing the bars and restaurants. I'm sure they'll practice social distancing.

Kinda wish I had all my Foxfire books again. I shouldn't have sold them a few years ago...:(

Fl Gov. DeSantis just wrapped up a press conference. Main takeaway is that he has
refused to shut down restaurants, bars, spring
break gatherers, etc. Says it's up to local jurisdictions to handle it. Left it open that
they will be meeting tomorrow to discuss.
------
very disappointing.

Well, if things go south in the next two weeks or so, the governor can't claim ignorance.

I had an appointment with my cardiologist for tomorrow to discuss continued chest pain I've had since I had fluid around my heart and was hospitalized a month ago. They called and said they are rescheduling all appointments for anyone 60 or older to 60-90 days out. So I guess if you don't get the virus you'll die from something else if you're 60 or older. Or I could go to an already overwhelmed ER in the next 90 days if I have chest pain indicative of a heart attack.

I'm so sorry. These are scary times. A friend just posted about her father's bypass being canceled. Again, that's something he needs. I'm very worried myself because I have ongoing medical needs that require testing regularly in a hospital lab. I can't risk coronavirus though. What are we supposed to do?

What a shame. They are ignorant fools to not recognize the risk.

Frustration... personal story...
Unfortunately, a close relative is a believer in his rights. He doesn’t think any government has the right to tell him he can’t go to a restaurant. Not able to even discuss this with him - gets angry.

Told him about Jack Ma’s donation to the US of a million masks and test kits - after this relative’s anti- Chinese tantrum. Jack Ma is Chinese. Of course, this relative had no idea Jack Ma is co-founder of Alibaba and worth about 40 billion.

Nothing to do but sit back and wonder how I could be related to such an idiot.

CT - 41 COVID19 cases

Coronavirus Cases Surge to 41 in Connecticut

Quotes from article:

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Connecticut has risen to 41, according to the state Department of Public Health.

The agency released the numbers Monday afternoon.

Here are the current numbers broken down by county:

  • Fairfield County: 29
  • Hartford County: 4
  • Litchfield County: 4
  • New Haven County: 4
Gov. Ned Lamont joined the governors of New York and New Jersey ordering all bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and casinos to close as of 8 p.m. on Monday.

Restaurants will be able to continue take-out and delivery service, according to Gov. Lamont.

He said he is working with Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, which are both tribal casinos on sovereign land. Mohegan Sun said Monday it would close temporarily.

The governor noted that drive-through testing has been approved at seven Connecticut hospitals, but only for those who have a prescription for the test from their doctor and make an appointment in advance. Those hospitals are:

  • Bridgeport Hospital
  • Bristol Health
  • Danbury Hospital
  • Greenwich Hospital
  • Stamford Health
  • Waterbury Hospital
  • Yale-New Haven Hospital
Hartford HealthCare will also be offering drive-through testing starting Monday at Hartford Hospital and at other locations later this week.

The state is also working to streamline approval for healthcare providers to make coronavirus-related treatment and services available.

Coronavirus Symptoms
The key symptoms of the coronavirus, according to the CDC are:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
Symptoms can appear in infected persons two to 14 days after exposure.

Coronavirus Prevention Steps
Steps for prevention from the CDC include:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

7 Tips to Help Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus
Steps to Self-Monitor for Coronavirus
Steps to self-monitor from the CDC include:

  1. Take your temperature with a thermometer two times a day and monitor for fever. Also watch for cough or trouble breathing.
  2. Do not take public transportation, taxis, or ride-shares during the time you are practicing social distancing.
  3. Avoid crowded places (such as shopping centers and movie theaters) and limit your activities in public.
  4. Keep your distance from others (about 6 feet or 2 meters).
If you do get sick with a fever, cough or have trouble breathing, call ahead before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room and communicate with your doctor about your recent travel.

  • If you develop symptoms, stay home and avoid contact with others. Do not go to work or school for this 14-day period. Discuss your work situation with your employer before returning to work.
The CDC has a special website set up with details about the coronavirus, including how it spreads and treatment.

Anyone with questions relating to coronavirus can call 2-1-1 or text "CTCOVID" to 898211. The 2-1-1 hotline is available 24 hours a day.

You can also visit the state's coronavirus information website here. Residents are encouraged to check the website for answers to questions before calling the hotline.

Wow a complete Wuhan shutdown, praying for these people. It’s not going to be easy. At least ITALY let their citizens roam the streets.

How is San Francisco going to handle the homeless?

It’s not as extensive as that. It’s like Italy and Spain. They can get groceries, gas, go to the pharmacy and walk the dog. But no outside walking for anything else.

Well, if things go south in the next two weeks or so, the governor can't claim ignorance.

It’s a crazy mistake he’s making. And unfortunately we aren’t closing state borders so mistakes like these made on the state level will affect other states.

NEW JERSEY – Gov. Phil Murphy is enlisting the help of the National Guard and FEMA in an effort to combat the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 in New Jersey.

The 8,000 members of the state’s National Guard could be called upon to serve at some of the so-called “drive-through” testing centers, help reopen a shuttered hospital or convert a wing of a building into a temporary treatment area, Murphy said.

FEMA has identified New Jersey as a “priority state” and will set up and help staff coronavirus testing sites at the PNC Bank Art Center in Monmouth County and Bergen County Community College. FEMA’s involvement comes, Murphy said, after a conversation he had two days ago with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

I fear it will have to hit very close to home for some to understand what is actually happening all around them.

This is all I could find. Not definitive, but it may help. Personally, I will choose a restaurant carefully and then assume that the restaurant is taking steps to make sure their workers are virus free and/or that standard health department standards are met. If I ask, I’m sure they’ll say “yes” so why ask?! And then I’ll heat it up in the microwave. I’m not sure what else to do. I don’t want to go above and beyond and drive myself nuts!

Coronavirus: How to best handle food to protect yourself

How will a manager at a food or beverage establishment know if any of their employees have the virus?

We are already spraying packages and boxed grocery items with Lysol. :p
