Reuters: WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION SPOKESMAN SAYS THERE ARE TWO CONFIRMED CASES OF CORONAVIRUS AMONG STAFF

I wonder if it's our beloved Mike and this other person Dr Sochi? This is what I typed as yesterday's presser was about to begin.

"Looks like Dr. Mike won't be at the presser today. Dr. Maria and Dr. Tedros will be there.

They had one person up in his place for Mike (Dr. Sochi, Assistant Director General Emergency Response) but just removed his nameplate and now Dr. Paul Molinaro in his place who is the Chief, Operations and Logistics."

THANK YOU @Bit of hope! So many need to hear this. I’ve pulled out a few quotes that really epitomize what we are facing...and what we need to do. This is not a time to panic, but it is a time to be prepared and think of others. Can Belgium do that? Can Florida and the U.S. do that? Can the world do that? Time will tell.

It makes me sad. We are a stubborn and unruly people. Far too much on our individual desires to manage this epidemic. Our individualism is going to kill us.

This is a historic opportunity. We can now really mean something for each other and for the country. Each of us can now save a life by acting responsibly, by placing the collective above the individual.

Since we don't know who is infected and who isn't (the labs can't handle that many analyzes), you should assume that everyone is potentially infected. That's the nasty thing about this bug: you only know a week later that you had been infected a week earlier, so it is not read on anyone's forehead.

The front soldiers risk their lives, because the protective clothing and masks will be worn out and cannot be replenished.

I am not at all pleased with frightening people, but as long as many people still do not understand the seriousness, we must be explicit.

Those who are unlucky enough to fall seriously ill in the coming weeks will depend on the courage, self-sacrifice, and selflessness of the heroes of care. They will skip breaks, run double shifts, continue to work exhausted, take the work of their colleague who has been corona down, and this for weeks, even months on end.

You may want to see if your healthcare provider/system has a telemedicine program. The program I used is a hospital sponsored program. It was a FaceTime type visit. The np ordered a script. The visit was $45.00.

Happy St. Pat's!! I'm wondering if any restaurants in my area are still doing corned beef & cabbage for carryout, since the governor shut down all restaurants, bars, movie theaters, gyms, etc. in our state as of 5 pm yesterday...

He said take melatonin? I knew about the zinc and other vitamins. But why melatonin?
Ha! Probably to help us weary to sleep.

Also my husband just walked in to the living room so proud of himself telling me that he ordered groceries! I say great, thinking he restocked what we talked about- black beans, squash, rice, canned goods.

No...he ordered a variety of fancy Spanish salami from some specialty foods store???? He’s going to be shocked when he gets A SLICE OF SALAMI for dinner because he didn’t pick up the reasonable staples we’ve been eating for a week.

The best part is we GAVE UP MEAT for Lent. So we can’t even eat the salami for another 3 weeks!! I need a private quarantine from this quarantine.

Husbands...they try, very cute.
Ha! My husband shops the same way. I’m Catholic and I understand the abstaining from meat. I say slice that baby up and savor that expensive cut of meat.

Oh dear! I think washing money in a bucket would be better. Or a lingerie bag in the washer even.

Be careful you are not arrested for money laundering!

I just looked through the article quickly, but if I recall correctly, children have higher levels of melatonin, and the virus doesn't seem to affect them so much. Whether is's true is another think.

This made me smile, which we need to do. I actually told my husband to buy some extras @2-3 weeks ago. Just enough to have on hand. He came home with a few things I hadn't told him to, and without some of the things I did, lol. One of those items I certainly didn't want was a small can of Spam..... I never liked it and I've never known him to eat it, either! But, as I told him this evening, at least we have it as a last resort :)
Ha, not surprised there was spam on the store shelf.

I work from home. Tips: get dressed. Doesn’t have to be office clothes, but get out of the pajamas. Work in only one room. Only be in that room when working, and shut the door when you leave.

Latest on coronavirus in Scotland - BBC News

Court cases will be affected

e2bda990-5230-45e5-90f5-88fddd304fb9.jpg

Reevel Alderson

BBC Scotland Home Affairs correspondent

No new jury trials are to start in Scottish courts as part of measures to avoid the further spread of coronavirus. The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) said jury trials which have already started will run to their conclusion where that is practicable.

The restriction will be in place until further notice. It is not known at this stage whether the government is to legislate to alter the current legal time bars which mean criminal trials have to begin within a fixed timescale.

Under the rules, an accused person can only be held in custody for 140 days without trial. If that is exceeded without a court order the accused must be freed.

I shared this a few threads ago but thought some might not have seen it. I like coffee in the morning, but I enjoy tea in the afternoon and evening. Yesterday I poured myself a glass of wine at 2:00 - it was 5:00 somewhere :D - but that's rare.

THE EIGHT BEST TEAS FOR STRESS & ANXIETY

  • CHAMOMILE TEA. With a smooth flavor that makes it easy to sip on, chamomile tea is one of the most popular tea varieties. ...
  • PEPPERMINT TEA. Peppermint tea is a refreshing sip that is delicious both hot and cold. ...
  • VALERIAN ROOT TEA. ...
  • LEMON BALM TEA. ...
  • LAVENDER TEA. ...
  • GREEN TEA. ...
  • ROSEHIP TEA.

Coronavirus in NZ: Tourists to be deported after failing to self-isolate upon arrival

Two people who arrived in New Zealand from South East Asia and failed to self-isolate will be kicked out of the country.

The pair had put New Zealanders at risk and were being removed from the country, Immigration NZ said.

INZ compliance and verification general manager Stephen Vaughan said the tourists' behaviour was unacceptable.

"This kind of behaviour is completely irresponsible and will not be tolerated which is why these individuals have been made liable for deportation," he said.
