Oh, I hope they don't head south!!! I've several friends on FB that said, if NY closed their families would head here.

My friend in NY texted me: DeBlasio said he is saying to be ready for a shelter in place order and there’s going to be an alert at 6 o’clock but didn’t say what the 6 o’clock alert was going to say

When all of this is behind us, I want my children to remember how their home felt during this time of confusion and uncertainty. My choices and behavior will teach them how to respond to stress and anxiety in their own lives. I want them to remember that we played board games and we went on bike rides. That their mom is terrible at video games. That our living room became my daughter's art studio so she could continue her college classes. That a friend let my son borrow his guitar so he could use YouTube videos to finally learn how to play.

Yes, things were cancelled. Yes, life had to change and we missed out on things. Yes, we had disappointments and challenges. Yes, we experienced loss. But we did it together and we tried to be happy and resilient. And when one of us wasn't, the others helped until they were again.

You’re a great mom.

TEXAS

NEW: Three of Dallas County’s new confirmed #Covid19 cases are currently hospitalized in critical condition. And two of those are young: one in their 20’s, another in their 30’s. The third critical patient is in their 60’s. No underlying health conditions.

Me too. I have a knot of nausea and nerves that just won’t let go. This time last week, I was sitting happily in a restaurant in Glasgow, chowing down on gnocchi and roasted veggies, worried about the virus but still feeling it wasn’t quite real. The sledgehammer hit as I sat the airport the next day and watched the pandemic announcement. I’ve felt like yarking ever since. On a plus note, I’ve dropped 4lbs in a week and my self-isolating-snacks remain untouched.

I’m only sleeping four hours a night. I go to sleep fine but wake up and I’m wide awake.

I'm in Santa Rosa County. Pensacola Beach has been crazy busy with Spring Breakers. A neighbor's daughter who is a server at one of the beach's hotspot restaurants (and it's large) said Sunday night was the busiest she's seen in two years of working there. She says they've been taking precautions, but it only takes one cough.

That’s insane.

I’ve worked with feral and stray cats. Over the years, I’ve learned something that applies to people just as much as it does to cats, “you can only help them as much as they’ll let you” Some people sadly have the “it won’t affect me, why should I worry” or the “it’ll be over in a couple of weeks - storm in a teacup” mentality. Sadly, the only time they’ll understand and agree with your view is when they or their loved ones are confirmed to have the virus. IMO JMO
The feral cats are typically not out and about spreading a highly contagious virus with no treatment however, and most likely only affect their own well being by refusing to be helped. People who refuse to take it seriously are probably living their lives as usual and could be affecting you and me.

Dr. Anthony Fauci w/ a stark message to young Americans.
He said: "Really try to distance yourself. Don’t get the attitude that I’m young and invulnerable...You are...less vulnerable than I am. However...We can't do this without the young people cooperating. Please cooperate.”

@Gardener1850 I promised to find that zinc protocol for you. Here is the original post by Dr. Williams, who incidentally is now in quarantine after having been exposed.

Humans....

Hope all is well. I will post a brief mid-week update on COVID-19 today.

I am a bit taken aback by the continued misinformation being provided by public health entities so do wish to clarify things immediately.

The World Health Organization today stated COVID 19 is more deadly than the normal flu. Almost like this is a surprise. The data clearly showed over 6 weeks ago it was categorically worse. How much worse? Look at the grafts I posted for clarification. The black and white ones are historical death rates from influenza over the last 100 yrs. Looking at the most recent few decades the mortality rate is ~5 per 100,000. COVID 19 is currently at a global 3.4% death rate or 3400 per 100,000.

Even if we double the historical death rate for influenza to 10 per 100,000 we are at a death rate increase of 340x higher. This is why comparing it to the flu is disingenuous, confusing and an error. Coronavirus is a game-changing super aggressive deadly pathogen to people over 55 years of age. If it can be contained it will save millions of lives. If it isn't expected the opposite.

I would strongly recommend excellent and thorough handwashing throughout the day, limit overseas travel and take Zinc Gluconate 50 mg/day with FOOD!!!!!

At the 1st sign of an upper respiratory tract infection please increase Zinc to 50mg every hr or so with food for 4# total doses. Hitting 200 mg of Zinc in the initial 8-12 hours of any viral infection can curtail it. We do want the Zinc to be taken in a 4-6 hr total time period to get a high serum level. Do not take it all t once as vomiting is definitely in your immediate future. If you do the elevated dosing scheme then take the next two days off Zinc.

This information is straight from Dr. Norman Imes MD in Oklahoma City. Dr. Imes is a brilliant pulmonologist and critical care specialist who was Chief of Intensive Care at Integris Medical Center for many years. He knows lung disease, ARDS, and viral prevention strategies as well or better than any physician in the United States.

All the best!

Noel

anybody know what that specifically means?

Great irony, we are plenty stocked up with food. I have zero desire to cook, or eat right now.
NYC is telling 8+ million people to be prepared to shelter in place  It’s on the breaking news ticker on CNN and my friend in NY got an alert on her phone.

Some provinces, including British Columbia, wanted Canada to include Americans in the border closure, but Freeland said that decision is being reviewed and debated constantly, given issues such as the need for food and other supplies to flow across the border. What measures are taken, she said, need to be carefully thought through.

Canada closes borders to most foreigners to fight spread of COVID-19

This! The magic hour for me is between 2 and 3 am and then I can’t get back to sleep. Last night when it happened I got up, took two benedryl, got cozy in front of a heater, and read until I got sleepy again (an hour later).

I left discussion for a couple of hours and watched a cheesy Lifetime movie  Missed many pages of the previous thread and obviously didn't realize there was a new one in progress. Will try to catch up. In the meantime, I just received a call from Beaumont Hospital Physical Therapy that the outpatient facility is closed until further notice. I was advised to continue my exercises at home and a clinician will contact me in the next couple of days. This is getting serious :( I hope and pray that everyone here will stay well. Please do everything that you can to take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES

Gosh how scary for them. So intense. I hope they have enough protective equipment.
