They include grocery, drug and convenience stores, banks and gas stations. #COVID19 #Vegas Clark County Nevada on Twitter

This order goes into effect as of noon tomorrow. Every casino in the state must turn off their machines by midnight tonight. "Stay Home For Nevada" is the message that was on display @GovSisolak announcement.

Wow. This is interesting. Because the mayor of Las Vegas, Mayor Goodman, has been in complete denial about the situation. So, the governor stepped in.

Been lurking here but since i work as a grocery stocker at a major national chain (not walmart) i figured i would weigh in.

A lot of stores are using this time to sanitize empty shelves and surfaces in the store. I appreciate this, because ultimately i get paid slightly more than minimum wage but am considered as a grocery store employee an essential employee. Because grocery stores are "essential" businesses.

While i think this is kind of silly, because healthcare workers are actually i FEEL IMO, don't come for me, the only "essential" employees in a time like this i understand people need to buy food and personal products even in a crisis, i just think it is insane that we are basically spending 8 hours a day in a petri dish of people from everywhere, touching everything in the store. Yes, we can wear masks if we buy our own. We can wear the gloves they use in deli for food service, or buy our own gloves.

Doctors and nurses don't have to buy their own PPE and they also don't make basically minimum wage to work in close proximity with people from every sector of society, many of which practice VERY poor personal hygiene.
I hear ya! Please take every precaution you can. Hopefully your big box bosses will see the light!

Coronavirus: Forces' Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn, 102, tells UK to 'pull together'

Dame Vera, who is set to turn 103 on Friday, said: “In these uncertain times, I am taken back to my time during World War Two, when we all pulled together and looked after each other.

“It is this spirit that we all need to find again to weather the storm of the coronavirus. It’s important to remain positive, keep calm and follow the sensible advice provided by the Government at this difficult time.

“I am sure many people, especially the elderly, are worried about what the future may hold. I encourage you all to keep smiling through. Even if we are isolated in person, we can still be united in spirit.

“As the war showed us so many years ago, we are all stronger than we think and, however desperate things may seem today, remember that we can still be kind, we can still laugh — and we can still sing.”

Forces' Sweetheart Vera Lynn, 102, tells UK to 'pull together' to beat virus

It is lovely Dame Vera Lynn made this statement. I’m wondering if Her Majesty The Queen will make a video address at some point to boost morale particularly with the elderly.

thanks for your input. You should not have to purchase your own gloves, masks etc.
You are essential and I hope your customers appreciate your work and the store.

I'm amazed the OP you replied to doesn't take into account the surface life of virus. Metal and stainless surfaces are the longest life. All those customers touching cans, carts, freezer door handles. Boggles the mind. It's a huge undertaking, and I can imagine at times must feel insurmountable.

Right !! My daughter is trying to still work at the office a few days, plus she has 2 elementary age school children at home trying to do class lessons online --she is trying to get to where she can work from home at least for next few weeks as there is no babysitter.
My other daughter is a teacher and is teaching remotely her classes so she is also helping others online with tutoring or just basic questions since they are minus a physical teacher to be able to ask.

On the flip side, I have a very stubborn 93 yr old M-I-L who is gallivanting all over town-she was at 3 places today YIKES
And she keeps wanting us to come over to visit and I am like, Um..nope-- you stay home for the next 15 days and we will see you after the 15th day.
Until then, every time she goes out of the house, I am restarting the 15 days countdown. Sheesh
It's all about working together during the temporary crisis.

Can you take away her car keys?

Ugh...I have chest pain anxiety. I know we are in for the long haul and I must figure out a way to handle this better. It is just so isolating.
Can you get outside? I think that is the best, put your tablet down & get fresh air & sunshine. Save mundane inside chores for rainy days and sleepless nights. Moo
Good time to sort thru old paperwork, clean closets, drawers, etc. maybe try a new recipe....if you can find ingredients, of course. I would stay away from crafts needing tissue paper, lol.

I'll be curious to know you fare. We're in the same situation (except that we see our granddaughter once a week - she's home quarantined too, neither of her parents is in a very social work setting). I'm 4 days out from last contact with randoms and husband is 5 days out. I have a cough. We shall see.

His work just announced no classes until summer semester (and maybe not then, maybe no real world classes until September). My workplace will probably end up following suit. It's so strange.
We are not seeing our granddaughter for awhile...:(...

We used to see her every Sunday at the least. But my daughter in law is helping her mother through chemotherapy treatments. And so she cannot be near anyone else that might give her Any germs, or it could kill her Mom.

So we are not going to their home or having granddaughter at our home until the chemo treatments are through.

I worry about my daughter-in-law now. She teaches English at a junior college in Ventura County. And takes care of a 4 yr old and my son. He works at the Naval Base but they told the employees to stay home for now.

So they are all self quarantined, but with the added stress of the Mother's cancer diagnosis. They aren't working but son is still getting pay checks---for now anyway. So the future is stressful for them.

I’m having withdrawal from TJMaxx. It was a weekly “happy place” of mine.
Since I’ve been staying home so much I have...
Made a living will
Painted a piece of furniture that was on my project list.
Purged and organized my kitchen.
But darn it, when the weather gets warmer I WILL be buying flowers to plant, even if I have to wear a hazmat suit.

Have you been quarantined for a week?
I stayed in for 12 days, other than a quick run to the grocery. But I feel no safer because one trip out or contact with anyone or anything puts me right back in the midst of it. Moo
No, I have been quarantined already for 5 days, but 8 more days, and it would be two weeks since I
flew back into LAX. I am counting the days since then, hoping I have no symptoms from that adventure.

I wonder what will happen when they try to come out of lockdown. I wonder what the plan is.

And if are they testing outside of the Wuhan area.
