This place was full of bed bugs.
I'm itching thinking I'd have to isolate there!!
Marietta hotel will become home to quarantined coronavirus patients, mayor says

HHS will do a quick revamp to adapt/repurpose.

Logistically this works... property will be protected by fencing and US Marshalls.

  • rooms with individualized ventilation systems
  • bath, TV,
  • probably microwaves and small fridge
  • 3 daily meals
  • quick access to a higher level of need, if need
Hotels seem to meet the needs. Wonder if NY has considered this.

Ya know, I think this is as close to an Alien Invasion as we'll ever get. IMO

NYC
BREAKING: New York City reports 279 new cases of coronavirus since morning update, raising city's total to 923 Tracking coronavirus: Map, data and timeline

Pretty safe to say that the virus is free rolling now. I don't see how this can be contained.

I am surprised that there hasn't been a call for people over 65 to completely self quarantine. I believe that will be coming.

Unfortunately that will not be possible in many low income households where there won't be sufficient independent living space.

Personally I think this crisis is going to have a much bigger impact on our daily lives around the globe. 9/11 was absolutely devastating and horrifying. I was worried sick about society in general and I thought thousands of innocent people were going to be killed in ongoing attacks. But I didn’t immediately think a large part of my family or I could potentially die in the coming months.

With this virus I’m terrified to go out my front door because I could get the virus and kill my Dad, Mum and myself because we are all high risk. I’m worried sick about my Dad, who is nearly 74, going out in case he catches the virus.

I’m also extremely concerned about my Auntie who has Lupus, my best friend who has bad asthma and an 84 year old close friend who has serious health problems. The virus could kill us all. In addition I could be totally housebound for 18 months or longer until a vaccine is made.

Economically I also this crisis is going to be much worse around the globe than 9/11 was. Life completely changed on 9/11 and it has changed again on an incredible scale because of the virus.

You are so right, @gregjrichards. The world really shook on 9/11, but I didn't really feel personally vulnerable after a couple of weeks. This is just the silent, invisible terror.

And the older and medically fragile are threatened by severe disease or death, but their funds are also likely to be savaged, with the recovery in a time frame that probably exceeds their expected lifespan.

Like the 2008 recession, younger people will also be walking away from their homes, when they can't make mortgage payments and give their own children a secure education

The US & Canada are preparing to issue a joint statement in the next 24-48 hours to suspend non-essential travel between the two countries, an administration official tells me.
The restrictions will ensure trade & business between the two countries can continue. 1/2

The agreement is not yet finalized and officials are still working to define "non-essential travel.”
Part of the discussions involve what types of vehicles & individuals would still be allowed to travel between the two borders and for what purpose.

I am thinking I may have to venture out to Publix tomorrow. I am out of coffee creamer, ice cream, potato chips, cheezits and coca cola. I usually pace myself when I am at work but now that I am home, I am eating my treasures at a rapid pace. I am actually thinking that a banana would be good too.

I think some of us are too nervous and tense about the unknown to settle down long enough to get projects completed. I have started 3 knitting projects, 2 art projects and have stuff strung out everywhere but keep going back to watch NYC channel one news. Wish I had some of those fudge dipped Oreos.
I have a ton of things to keep me busy. Am I doing them? NO! I did take the dog out for a walk yesterday, went to the park drove around town little bit. But most of the days I'm glued to the laptop for any bit of info

Oh, no! My Amazon order is in! Gotta look young for triage!
Got that right!
Same here. I refuse to take sleep aids.
I find that watching "Forensic Files", puts me to sleep.
Something about the narrator's voice is hypnotic.
I love Forensic Files. The voice just lulls me to sleep every night. I watch it on Pluto.

More than 2 million Americans could die of coronavirus if the US did NOTHING - but keeping people apart could cut fatalities to 200,000, study suggests

Social distancing of the entire US population, isolation of anyone infected with coronavirus and quarantines for their household members may be the only way to stem the pandemic - and these measures may need to be in place for 18 months, a new study suggests.

Researchers at Imperial College London say that if the whole population doesn't hunker down, between 1.1 million and 1.2 million Americans will likely die of coronavirus, even if they are treated.

Thanks Greg.....I was just looking for the graph in this article. It shows all not any one strategy will work. It requires all of them to get the best result.

My husband had to pick up his new hearing aids at Costco here in Colorado Springs today. Rather than have him shop afterward, I shopped while he had them adjusted. It was a surprisingly civilized experience. People kept their distance and the store was busy but not packed. The grocery selection was good. The cashier said it was mobbed this weekend but they had done some restocking. At the entrance to the store, there was a list of things they were out of. There was signage throughout the store reminding people to keep their distance. I made a point of thanking the associates for working. Customers seemed to be serious but not stressed.

That's interesting, because a colleague of mine got a call today from Costco in Ohio saying that her prescription eyeglasses had arrived and were ready to be picked up, but they wanted her to know that they are not able to do any adjustments/fittings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This seems untenable.

Yikes! My son lives in Louisiana and works a 21 day stint on a rig in Newfoundland/Labrador region. I imagine that he won’t be able to travel.

Is it just me or does it seem like they are trickling out information and warnings out gradually everyday?
I feel like as the numbers start rising everyday the warnings/lockdowns are going to be in a more serious tone. Hopefully with repercussions for those that aren’t cooperating.
JMO.

One thing that's rather disturbing about that graph is that it isn't until JULY 20 that one could consider it "over".

That's 4 MONTHS away.

Like was said, we are at the first 10 minutes of a 3 hour epic terror movie.
