Anyone impacted best start saving any supporting documentation as proof of the date of impact, etc.
I’m sure there will be a lot of red tape to jump thru. Moo
Correct. You can't just "not pay" because of the virus. I'm sure you'll have to prove hardship.

Our liquor stores/gas stations remain open.
Lol....our Gov yesterday said something like: I know how hard it is to be cooped up with your kids, it can be tough, get out and walk, blah blah.....
I thought heck, it’s only been two days, they ain’t seen nothing yet.
After sporting events cancelled, one might be inclined to think people would see the big picture. But no....., not all.

I’ve been wondering what will happen to people dependent on alcohol as well. You can’t just stop drinking! You can die from that.

Exactly. We’re in March, so not paying from Nov- to date won’t cut it, lol. Many will try, we already know.

Y'all ain't gonna like this...

I totally agree. We are just dragging this out, transmitting and infecting more and more. The longer we go with out containment the worse on all...People, Economic and our kids.

Until we contain the virus we can not mobe on, heal and recover.

China totally locked down, mandatory quarantine, armed guards guarding the streets, infected people removed from their homes under force and it was still months and will takes years to recover Financial.

Italian number are rapidly increasing. Dr. Birx said today, we see significant increases in positives over the next 5 days due to backlog testing. We will exceed Italy.

Heck YES !!!Lock us down, now!!! Lets get this over with and move to recover.

Lockdown are the ONLY thing than flattens the curve. We will be no different.

MOO...
Even if China went on lock-down for the virus, it was the Hubei province that were under the strictest mandatory quarantine. It can be a good idea to take a look at the map here, and compare the size of Hubei and Italy to the size of the US, before considering a lock-down of the US. Here's what a massive coronavirus lockdown would look like in the U.S.

It's not unheard of for those in dire straits to seek other forms of alcohol, like Sterno or rubbing alcohol in desperation. Now, rubbing alcohol is also scarce, so that may prevent some deaths Hard choices. IMO

I was thinking the same thing....rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, Sterno but everyone's sold out of that stuff.

They can go to another state and purchase. This is a state regulation.

I think Rx addiction might already be a prob, like in West VA, the state with the worst opioid crisis in the nation.
I worked with addicts, the only time they want to see a dr. Is if they can score a new ‘script. Moo
I hope there will some hospital beds or programs available for people in this situation. I haven't seen it addressed yet, but I think this will be a huge problem.

Coronavirus: How to protect your mental health
''With weeks and months of the coronavirus pandemic ahead, it is important to have down time. Mind recommends continuing to access nature and sunlight wherever possible. Do exercise, eat well and stay hydrated.

AnxietyUK suggests practising the "Apple" technique to deal with anxiety and worries.

  • Acknowledge: Notice and acknowledge the uncertainty as it comes to mind.
  • Pause: Don't react as you normally do. Don't react at all. Pause and breathe.
  • Pull back: Tell yourself this is just the worry talking, and this apparent need for certainty is not helpful and not necessary. It is only a thought or feeling. Don't believe everything you think. Thoughts are not statements or facts.
  • Let go: Let go of the thought or feeling. It will pass. You don't have to respond to them. You might imagine them floating away in a bubble or cloud.
  • Explore: Explore the present moment, because right now, in this moment, all is well. Notice your breathing and the sensations of your breathing. Notice the ground beneath you. Look around and notice what you see, what you hear, what you can touch, what you can smell. Right now. Then shift your focus of attention to something else - on what you need to do, on what you were doing before you noticed the worry, or do something else - mindfully with your full attention.''
Thank you for this! I have a coworker I've known close to 30 yrs, keeping each other in check, talking each other down. We recognized years ago on the same page, same personality type. I'm grateful to have that. We have lost our "jobs" about 2 months ago when the Tradeshows were being cancelled. So we've had nothing but time to observe all the going on around the world, and in turn fret about the situation. Because now it's become more than getting sick, financial lives of every human is at risk.

I’ve been thinking...as frustrated as I am with the previous delays and apparent incompetence and outright “alternative facts” that have been the case in the U.S...I’m going to stop being bothered by that now and just look ahead. I have to believe that most of the experts VP Pence has brought to the Task Force are giving us truthful information, and being honest about what they don’t know. I have to believe that most governors and local officials finally have their act together. It will probably prove to be too little too late, but looking back and being upset about what they “coulda, woulda, shoulda” done earlier won’t help me personally or the country IMO. Who blew it can and probably will be sorted out later. Right now I/we need to do our best to protect ourselves, flatten the curve and help those who need help on an individual basis. It’s going to be a long haul, well beyond the 15 day experiment, so I will conserve my energy for coping with that, and let go of the past for now.

Wishing everyone good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. :)

Ok, some happy news! We got approved to be a foster dog parent with the county humane society. I passed my phone interview with flying colors. I get to go see the dogs on Friday morning. The shelter lady said "You can have your pick of whatever dog you'd like. We just want to get them out of here." I asked what their protocols were as far as being busy because I am of course, a cancer patient and high risk. She stated they implemented a policy of only 5 people in the facility at a time. If more than 5 arrive, they have to wait outside, not inside. I can wear my mask and gloves too.

I can't go help anyone else. Everyone else is helping me to stay isolated. So this is the only way I can help. I am happy to feel needed to be honest and it will help me stay active - playing fetch, wandering around my back yard, making sure my little charge has fun. Stay tuned!!

That is wonderful. Congratulations and thank you for doing this. Best wishes to you for your treatment I really hope you will be safe from the virus.

My son's 27 yo friend and his 60 yo mom have it, on home quarantine until March 25th.
He's letting every one know "this is bad!"
"We have been sick for 9 days!!!"
He knows a few unmarried friends, but most of them are married with children and he is saying "keep your kids at home. Please don't spread this!! Believe me when I say you dont want it!"
A few are listening-
Moo

I’m so sorry, I really hope they both recover fully.

Yeah, they are concerned about the playground equipment being compromised. Now why? Not for adults, huh?
Every recommendation I’ve seen regarding kids is they can play outdoors, hike, ride bike, play ball in the yard but they MUST maintain a safe distance and MUST not be around elderly or anyone otherwise compromised. Play dates are NOT suggested.
Skate board and dog park as well as playground off limits at a public park near me.

Thanks! The shelter provides food and any meds. The only thing I have to provide is lots of attention. That’s all I can afford too so it’s a win win. I could have gone today but Thursday’s are my treatment days. I want to make sure I have lots of time with them before I leave them alone. My daughter usually go to work about noonish. So maybe a few hours of being alone on Thursdays only.

Congress has to get this right, they just have to. This is such an ungodly amount of money and once it is gone, it is gone. Who gets it? The people, the airlines, medical, etc, etc, etc ? How much for each? I remember how it feels to live paycheck to paycheck. As long as everything goes according to plan, basic living expenses are paid. But who could have come up with a scenario like this? I'm sure that many people are in a panic. Not being able to pay for a roof over their head, utilities, basics for their children, transportation, food, pet needs, etc. Please Congress, get this right.

I posted this yesterday, I did not check today for an update

"We are looking at sending checks to Americans immediately. What we heard from hardworking Americans, many companies are now shut down whether bars or restaurants, Americans need cash now and the president wants to get [them] cash now. I mean now in the next two weeks," Mnuchin said. "We want to make sure Americans get money in their pockets quickly."

"At my direction, [Treasury] Secretary Mnuchin is meeting today with senators on additional stimulus packages," Trump said, adding that the administration is looking at a range of relief from help for the airline industry to loans for small businesses to financial flexibility for fast food workers.

In the most dramatic move to help average American workers, Mnuchin announced that the administration is looking at sending checks directly to households that are hurting – possibly within the next two weeks, supporting an idea that began in Congress.

"I think we'll do something to get money to them as quickly as possible," Trump said.

"More than $1.000 for every American except for those at the upper income levels. The checks will go out by late April, then a second check for the same amount will go out two months later, if we are still in a National Emergency

The official said the size of the check would depend "on where we set the income cap for eligibility."

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin warned unemployment could hit 20% without action: Sources

Trump plan: Give direct cash payments to most Americans

Thanks that great information.

Keep in mind COVID 19 doesn't care about the size of the country, only finding a "host" to live in.

Size don't matter. The more people you have, the greater the spread.

IMHO.... The CDC and the President and some governors are doing everything they can to encourage folks to prepare for a lockdown and to stay home NOW. The lockdown question is ask everyday, in my state and the Presidents presser. The answer is always, that option is on the table.

Its coming...maybe this week. Today, Trump will enact the Defense Production Act. The DPA is the MOST powerful act. They can now seize land/property, manufacturing plants, all available stock and warehouses. Things are going to start rapidly happening, the military are preparing to step in.

Change is a coming and some of it we ain't gonna like...

Have food and CASH.... Forget the dang toilet paper....
MOO...
