Unfortunately, we haven't seen anything yet. The lovely people now get a mention....that will end soon...
Right. It's a novel Virus. There's no telling when it will end. It's also mutating already from what I've read.

Then there is this study by the University of Maryland:

IHV Researchers Use Climate to Predict Spread of COVID-19

“Based on what we have documented so far, it appears that the virus has a harder time spreading between people in warmer, tropical climates,” said study leader Mohammad Sajadi, MD, associate professor of medicine, UMSOM, physician-scientist at IHV, and a member of GVN.
On the other hand, Chile, just coming out of austral summer --- still hot and very humid along much of the northern coast, has closed its borders to land traffic from Peru, Argentina and Bolivia; has stopped all cruise ships from docking, has stopped flights from EU, and USA (or declaring a 14 day quarantine for all foreigners); has closed ALL national parks and reserves; has declared a national catastrophe which is similar to what has been declared in the USA, giving extraordinary powers to the government; is putting up roadblocks with the police checking to see if symptoms are obvious and WHY people are going to certain towns, and making them turn around if they don't live there, or if they don't have elderly relatives in those towns. Among other things in a hot and humid area, although not technically "tropical". I don't think that research is worth the paper it's written on.

BREAKING NEWS: US Rep Mario Diaz-Balart is the first member of Congress to test positive for coronavirus

The Florida Democrat said in a statement that he has been self-quarantining in Washington since Friday and has not returned home to Florida because his wife's pre-existing conditions put her at exceptionally high risk.

The congressman said he developed a fever and headache on Saturday evening and was notified 'a short while ago' that he tested positive.

Article Says he is a Democrat but I believe he is actually a republican.

Nine new COVID-19 cases in Iowa, two new eastern Iowa counties included 9 new cases in Ia. today & 2 new counties added ETA-the total is 38 now. IMO-they are no longer telling whether it is a travel related, close contact, or community spread and people are getting very frustrated here. Also, I'm watching a live show on one of the local channels, so I have no link but the local health experts did say that there is a significant amount of Iowans who have been tested and have already gotten their results or are waiting for them. Also, because they are testing in different locations they are no longer posting number of tests taken and tested as negative just the positive ones.

I feel the same way and faced the same obstacles on Monday. I spent 8 hours shopping: 4 of those hours spent driving.

It may not be true of everywhere, but here’s what I found on the north-west shore of Nova Scotia:

-the dollar store had my cat’s brand of food and kitty litter (no kitty litter found in 4 other stores)

-the largest dollar store didn’t have tp, but did have boxed tissues, wet wipes, and paper towels. They also had powdered hot and cold drink mixes.

-I went to Michaels craft store and found they sell and have hand sanitizer in stock (!!)

-check the organic and international sections of the more expensive grocery stores. I found eggs, flour, mystery soups, and mystery breads while the rest of the ‘common’ areas of the store had none of those items.

-check the damaged/reduced section.

-go shopping very early in the day

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but be sure to thank the grocery store staff, especially those loading the shelves. A lot of them are students, and it’s back-breaking, exhausting work.

I found in the lower priced stores, the customers were politely and efficiently shopping, not bothering the staff with questions.

In the high-priced grocery stores, I found people with empty carts chatting in groups, people waiting in the back of the store, asking staff to check for very specific brands of items, and other poor pandemic shopping etiquette.

^^I mean no offence to anyone, but I’ve noticed this pattern for the last few weeks.

Wow kudos to some new shopping tips I hadn’t heard yet about Michaels having hand sanitizer and checking the organic/international aisles. :) :)

Lol @poor pandemic shopping etiquette

Disappointing results from a study, looking at Lopinavir–Ritonavir for #COVID19 infection.
"In hospitalized adult patients with severe Covid-19, no benefit was observed with lopinavir–ritonavir treatment beyond standard care."

Ok, some happy news! We got approved to be a foster dog parent with the county humane society. I passed my phone interview with flying colors. I get to go see the dogs on Friday morning. The shelter lady said "You can have your pick of whatever dog you'd like. We just want to get them out of here." I asked what their protocols were as far as being busy because I am of course, a cancer patient and high risk. She stated they implemented a policy of only 5 people in the facility at a time. If more than 5 arrive, they have to wait outside, not inside. I can wear my mask and gloves too.

I can't go help anyone else. Everyone else is helping me to stay isolated. So this is the only way I can help. I am happy to feel needed to be honest and it will help me stay active - playing fetch, wandering around my back yard, making sure my little charge has fun. Stay tuned!!
Little nudge, if it is even possible, try to get a smaller breed.
I am in an end of life situation with my dog, who I probably need to say goodbye to, but...
Coronavirus has messed everything up!!
Anyway, she is unable to walk at times, still eating like a horse, wagging her tail, hydrayed etc.
It is killing my back having to pick her up to take her outside!!
My husband had a hip replacement and he has helped, but he isn't supposed to be lifting 60+ pounds.
If it was my smaller dog, I'd be fine.
Food for thought.
Congratulations!!
Moo

Dr. Jennifer Ashton speaks with David Muir (short video)

"Younger patients and coronavirus: What we know and what we don’t know at this time..watch here "

David: To answer your questions tonight, Let's get right to our Dr. Jenn Ashton, who has been with us all the way.

"That headline from France, obviously, we need to know more there. But it underscores when you hear that half the people in critical condition are under 60, why we need testing in this country so we can see what the demographics are. Who is coming down with this and where in this country."

Dr Jennifer: Answers the question in video
