NYC

<snip> An Amazon warehouse worker at a facility in New York has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, the company confirmed to CNBC.

The employee works out of Amazon’s Queens, New York delivery station, known as DBK1. Amazon said the employee is receiving medical care and is in quarantine.

The company said it has temporarily closed the facility for additional cleaning and has sent workers home with full pay. It’s not yet clear when the facility will reopen.

And how do we protect those workers sitting side-by-side in a warehouse? Large manufacturing plants are shutting down out of fear their employees with contract the virus. Amazon now has concerns for their own employees and may need to shut down.
Social distancing. Round the clock operation. They don’t need to sit at every machine or down every row. Mo

I live a small town just outside of Dallas and I work at the Wal-Mart the hoarding is not stopping. We run out of stock of everything within hours of opening. We have no TP, water, cleaning supplies and meats of any kind by 9 am everyday.

I'm in a medium size city in SC. My son works at the largest Food Lion in town. They are getting trucks everyday, but it's gone as soon as it hits the shelves. There is a meeting today to start limiting purchase amounts until the store is back to normal. They will also be adjusting hours. Somebody purchased $575.00 worth of meat a couple days ago! Disgraceful! Unless she was feeding the homeless or something on that order....

I still have my granny’s war ration book and some stamps left. Wonder if they’ve expired!

I anticipate a huge problem in my town. Why? I just picked dry cleaning up at the drive thru. In the otherwise closed strip plaza, there is a Big Dots store, I think it sells all types of things, I’ve never been in. I counted 7 carloads all with three or more kids, all going in Big Dots. Each group consisted of one or more kid that appears 12 or older. I couldn’t help notice everyone looked disheveled, leading me to wonder if they have any hygiene skills.
Idk if the store has self checkout stands or not, I hope so, otherwise idk how the cashiers will live.
In my county, school was not closed for to allow kids to roam around amongst us. They closed to keep them home.
I did see two elderly, not in the best physical shape women exit the store, it looked like they had TP or paper towels.
can anyone here explain to me why a party of 5 should be in a store?
Is there a certain sector of society completely unaware the virus exists? Surely they realize school is not in session. But how many don’t watch any news and are completely clueless?
....so glad I was not in that store, had I, I’d be in big trouble & clad in orange by now.

Yes!

And regular folk staying home and being socially distant are super-hero helpers.

It's not often we can make such a big difference to humanity just by sitting on the couch.

"With containment strategies you can get through an epidemic--we've seen that also in South Korea and Singapore," says @ScottGottliebMD. "In Italy you still see number of deaths rise but they may be approaching the peak in terms of new infections." Squawk Box on Twitter

snipped.

I'm seeing kids all over the place. My husband said co-workers brought kids to work yesterday. ?!?

There wasn't a plan of what to do with the kids when the school closed, which is why I think de Blasio in NYC was so reluctant to close them, but he was pressured to do so.

I see both sides to the decision, but it's too late now. Most schools are closed and the kids are now in the community.

I hope you remain safe. Are you seeing mainly adults shopping? Or are you seeing entire family units?
Also, are you allowed to “hold” TP in the back for employees? Our local WMT is allowing this. I’m not complaining, they are on the front line, they need TP!
