The fecal information really surprised me, because I had read elsewhere that stomach acid will kill the virus. Now I don't know what to think.

Your intestines and colon are hooked up to the rest of your body, not just to your stomach.

If the virus is in your body (and entered through your lungs), it's everywhere in your body. Ergo, it's in your intestines and colon too.

It is in your blood stream, and from there, it goes everywhere that blood goes (not the brain neurons, fortunately).

yes there's info that they do and have clogged sewer systems, along with 'flushable' wipes

Things were hoppin' at the local blood drive Sanitizer everywhere, beds and chairs spaced way out, and no more than 10 people that I could count in the room at a given time. Slow but steady stream of donors. Proud of my community, and even more so of the Red Cross staff. They were sweet as pie, despite seeming a little ragged. May they and their families stay safe and healthy.

Sorry, forgot to add this if anyone is wondering - they took donor temperature before letting us into the work space, then took it again during the intake interview. Donors seemed to range from late 20's to late 50's. No coughing or sneezing. All surfaces wiped down after use (visibly wet with sanitizer).

I hope that is the case for other locations, too, because we would not want operations shut down due to the epidemic. Will be accompanying my slightly needle-phobic young adult son to his first donation next week, assuming still permitted. Reminded him of the common good when he balked at first. He gets it. Most young'uns do

Do you need frequent eye exams because of it?

I have a fiend who takes it for Lupus who says there are retinal damage issues possible with taking it. Maybe only for long term use. IMO

Once a year. For long-term use only.

Oh indeed, I read the article. Assuming something is functional isn't good enough for this ole boy.

There's a lot of misinformation floating about. It is rather clear to me that U.S. authorities wanted to ensure accurate and reliable testing. Your information very well may tell you otherwise.

Yes, they will clog plumbing.

People using more wipes now concerns me because they are not flushable. Flushing wipes, or really absorbent paper towels, will clog apartment buildings pipes and destroy the sewer systems.

There's no telling what some people, maybe one in my building, would flush without a thought.

They do clog the sewer system. You would need a trash receptacle by the toilet for used paper towels.

Remember White House Dr. B said expect large increases. It is not reflective of the curve, rather a bunch of testing being crammed in over 5 days. The curve is expected to be off, per WH conference yesterday morning, iirc.

But yeah certainly tailgating for sure.

This is correct. The numbers of infected will grow rapidly as testing continues. It is not reflective of a huge jump in cases, rather, it is indicative of a more accurate appraisal of the current situation.

We just covered WW2 in the history class I teach. As I do every year, I showed them my mother's rationing book. When we went over some of the allowable amounts of stuff like sugar and flour, I had to remind the kids that there wasn't the packaged foods we have today. If you wanted something sweet, you had to produce it in your own kitchen, hence the need for so much sugar and flour.

Aside: I remember an author once holding court on the topic of Jane Austen and sociology of Great Britain at the time.

The conclusion was that everyone was basically half starving all the time (all the mentions of blancmange and porridge/gruel) and that meat was a rarely afforded treat; hence the universal obsession with issues like "Mr. Darcy's ten thousand a year", which would buy a lot of joints and roasts.
