I haven’t posted on this thread before, and I’m not entirely sure what everyone’s feelings are about this.

Despite the Chinese misinformation, the silencing of doctors, and the burying of actual data, I’m pretty impressed by the world’s response to this.

I think anyone who knows anything about how China operates was well aware that this was likely to be far worse than initially reported. I don’t think anyone expected anything to this extent though.

The world was behind the 8 ball, and it responded in a big way.

Sports don’t get shut down, restaurants don’t get shut down, schools don’t get shut down, and life as we know it doesn’t stop like this. This is completely unprecedented, regardless of your age.

It’s not easy to make a decision that effectively upends the global economy.

The coming weeks and months will be telling, as we’ll have a deeper understanding of the trajectory here.

What’s frustrating is that if the Chinese government had just told the truth, this could have been nipped in the bud. What’s encouraging though, is that we’re seeing bold action all over the world.
The Hazmat suits in Wuhan were literally a dead give away. Don't listen to what they say. Watch what they do. MOO

I am ordering all paper products on-line: mostly from Cleaning companies who seem to have enough stock to provide it. I am so
pissed at those people who hoarded enough toilet paper for
10 years!!! so selfish---you can order on Amazon now -toilet paper and such, but it won't be delivered until April 20---- i can't wait that long- duh!!!!
I 1000% agree.

I’m sorry, I will email my idea to corporate, I’ll PM you a copy after doing so. I’ll wait a couple weeks, too much going on now. Do you have a lot calling in sick?
Sadly I doubt that is going to be the case. Without saying too much because I could get in trouble they aren't very understanding of the things that we are having to go through at the stores.

@JerseyGirl I hope everyone is listening to Andrew’s explanation of Risk v Reward!
I wonder why his daughter is at the PC? Too cute regarding her missing the intense final weeks of college.

They don't have enough freaking swabs!!! are we living in a third world country??? it sure feels like it--- what a mess
Those swabs were being made in Italy.

I’m sorry you feel not supported. It unfortunately depends greatly on store level leadership (which is often lacking) but there are anonymous ways to voice your concern without any possibility of retaliation. Let me know if I can be of any help to guide you. I’m home office in a different state but have many connections regionally including those in your state.

I love hearing from him. His approach to calm people is so relieving where anyone else in authority makes my blood pressure rise and fits of rage.

NYGovCuomo
He is my every morning tune-in to calm my racing mind. As he says, he works off of facts, not fears. "We know the facts. We know this virus from its past behavior. Misinformation is more dangerous than the virus."

"I'm not going to lock down New York."

From the presser:
*Only 25% work force at a time in the city. Down from yesterday's 50%.

*Numbers going up because taking more tests, finding more positives.
These people had the virus already and didn't know about them.

*Progress on getting more hospital beds. Working with Army Corps of
Engineers currently.

*NY waives mortgage payments for 90 days in hardship.

*This will change almost everything going forward, and time unknown.

*To the younger people in our state: Risk/ reward! (Spring
break partying does not justify infecting and possibly killing
someone.). "We grow too soon old, and too late smart.
"

"My own personal advice is understand it for what it is. Think through how you're going to deal with it. Even try to find a positive in it."

Transcribed by me from live presser.

China eventually reported large numbers of corona virus infections and victims.
US in reality has a much larger number of infected because a lot of people are not able to get tested. That's months after US knew what could be coming.

This is a heartbreaking story from WA. :(

Mom of 6 who survived breast cancer dies from COVID-19 in Snohomish Co.

The community is now rallying behind her children—ranging from middle school to college— who are now left without any parents.

Family and friends remember Sundee Rutter as a fierce fighter and single mom of six who beat stage four breast cancer. She lost her husband some years ago.

Her life of beating the odds—was ended by Covid-19 at the age of 42.

It wasn’t so much that, but a realization of what it would mean. The Chinese knew what the impact would be (financially), and lied, while miscalculating what would happen.

When this first broke, I think everyone knew there was a coverup going on. But the problem with a coverup is that it masks the extent of the problem.

And the extent of the problem was worse than what most people could imagine.

So they didn’t go ahead and cover up a global catastrophe, they went ahead and covered up something short of that, hoping it didn’t escalate.

It did. And now it’s a global catastrophe that we’ll tell our kids and grandkids about.
If we're around to tell them, or if they are around. MOO

We had a cashier at our local store that was the nicest person ever, always smiling & courteous. I sent corp’ a letter describing how fortunate we were to have her locally & how all of us wanted to use her cashier lane. She got called to the office by her manager and got a huge hourly raise! This was years ago. The next time I was in the store she hugged me & was teary eyed. I still see her to this day, she’s now retired.

LOVE THIS! Especially in an era when people are only too eager to post videos online to ridicule or complain about others.

Way to set an example of how to be better than that - thanks for sharing.

I love your post! He is more of what is needed. Definitely compassionate and certainly wise. Lucky NY!

Did you see he also had his youngest daughter at the presser when he addressed the "young people?' She is missing her graduation, and he said to her, "We will have the biggest party for you...later. "

A friend told me her neighbor is going to FL because our tanning salons were ordered closed. The woman is always very tan & unwilling to lose her color. Idk if hotel pools are open or not. I also don’t know about hotels on private beaches.
