I've been watching a NC company in the Research Triangle Park that produced a rapid test for Covid19.

Approved !!!!

COVID-19 IgM/IgG Rapid Test – BioMedomics Inc.

Precise
  • Works with whole blood, serum, & plasma
  • Tests for both IgM and IgG antibodies
  • Validated using PCR
Fast
  • 15 minutes per test
  • Intuitive visual interpretation
  • No special equipment needed

NOTE:
Updated USFDA guidance issued on March 16, 2020, allows the distribution of this product for diagnostic use in laboratories or by healthcare workers at the point-of-care. The updated policy can be viewed by clicking here. Please see FAQ’s below for more detailed information.

Here are the problem issues with this serologic test. Which, by the way is not for home testing and will be regulated by each State, so that one State may allow it to be done by properly licensed healthcare personnel, while another may not.

ie: This is a can of worms problem:

    • This test has not been reviewed by the FDA.
    • Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic should be considered to rule out infection in these individuals.

  • Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection or to inform infection status.
  • Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.
Here is what the CDC says about the non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains:

I actually believe the numbers.....similar to the issues in the rest of the world, we are finding that its difficult to track and get tests to people. Imagine what they went through......we should have known better....they didn't have a clue what was happening. I admire them tremendously. My niece is in China.....so I know for a fact that mainland china is out of lockdown and moving on with their lives......meanwhile in the US.....

All it's going to take is one person returning from someplace else to spread it again. If they're out of lockdown, people will travel. Or are their borders still closed? I do think China may try to legislate a closed circular economy - indefinitely. This is really awful for international business (and for all of us dependent on their manufacturing).

And since China did not test every person in the quarantined province, they really do not know what's going to happen next. When people start emerging from their homes. They are going to let people out again, right? In about a month? Two months? A year?

The draconian force behind all of this locked down quarantine would not work well in most other nations.

Earlier someone posted a link which said that the cruise ship outbreaks came from lowly-paid food handlers preparing all that showy food on the ship.
Also, the fecal/oral possibility, idk if any cases are known to be from F/O but it can happen. As I’ve posted previously, in KY, we had numerous restaurants shut down including entire food courts, due to F/O transmission of hepatitis. Moo

Hatfield.....Mardi Gras .......my thoughts on the cluster around New Orleans and southern Louisiana......the thousands of people who were in the city and the area for the parades came in from all over and partied for days. They received loads of beads and trinkets which were thrown from floats and trucks and many are "made in China". Then the "throws" were put in pockets, purses and bags and brought home....usually to keep for years. I still have some in the attic.
Now, maybe the throws were not the issue, but the people who came in from
all over may have included parts of Europe and the United States.
Dates for Mardi Gras parades..... Mardi Gras 2020 Parades and Schedules in New Orleans

Hope everyone is doing as well as they can.

One thought I have been having today is I really think scientists should try to figure out why certain "clusters" blow up. I have had a theory for some time now that there is something unique about when these clusters blow up. At bottom is an example of 31 people catching the virus just because they went to a wedding. That is a huge number of people catching it from one place in a short amount of time.

I have no idea what could be causing such a major cluster outbreak. I dont know if there is a certain strain that is more catching or if there is a medium like food or air ventilation or plumbing or something like that that could be causing some large breakouts. I do think certain clusters are occurring more than a typical person to person catching, and I think there is something unique about it that causes the cluster to blow up.

We have seen quite a few clusters now and some of them like the nursing home in Washington state they claimed was the vaporizing due to them using a bad method at first to help the patients breathe and were inadvertently putting the virus in the air. But even in that cluster I am not so sure anymore because we have seen other clusters breakout and it seems super contagious more than a typical person to person spread. I am leaning towards three possible things. Either a food source becomes infected and then is given to the people in the cluster or maybe the air ventilation systems that somehow gets piped into and out of all the rooms from an infected source, thus maybe sharing air particles from room to room. Or maybe even plumbing systems that can aerosolize the particles when flushing comodes or simply spraying water out a faucets nozzle with a stream that aerosolizes it. Or maybe even possibly a certain strain that is more contagious than others. Wait, that is 4 options. LOL I have no idea but I do think it is something that needs to be determined because I do think there is a common link in how the clusters are catching it so badly.

I think we have yet to figure out what is causing certain clusters to blow up.

This cluster in this news article below is an example of a mystery cluster. 31 people that attended a wedding ended up catching it. They could not have been there longer than 1/2 day or so and yet 31 people got it. That is a rather large cluster breakout. Something is unique about that IMO.

Im not convinced yet that it was simply person to person causing the big cluster outbreak. I think it is deeper than that and I think we will eventually find out something common that helped it spread within the clusters. Im leaning towards "some source" acted like a petri dish and had lots of the virus active in the source and then by some mechanism like ventilation or plumbing or food, it was then transmitted to the people in the cluster. So as the wedding guests all either breathed or ate or flushed toilets or ran sink water and lets say germs at bottom of sink got aerosolized, then something along those lines allowed the guests to become infected from the same "thing".

Anyway, its just a theory I have been mulling over for some time.

I hope scientists can figure it out because if they can and there ends up being a common thing about the clusters then that can go a long ways to prevent new clusters.

"A pregnant woman and member of parliament are among 31 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus after attending a wedding."

At least 31 wedding guests catch coronavirus from Sydney ceremony of Emma Metcalf and Scott Maggs | Daily Mail Online
I think weddings are especially dangerous because there is so much hugging and kissing long missed family members. And toasting, and shaking hands and dancing and finger food and close contact for hours.

I can easily see how many people could have been infected. At my nieces wedding last summer, I probably hugged 30 people, kissed many of them on the cheek. Ate dip and guacamole, clinked champagne glasses, did a conga line, etc etc...

Also, I helped cut the cake and pass pieces out. I am sure my fingertips touched a few of the slices as I put it on the plates, etc.

CT - 2 COVID19 Deaths announced

Update as of 3/18/2020:

Connecticut had 96 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday evening, up from 68 on Tuesday and three this time last week. Twenty-four residents are currently hospitalized, the state’s chief operating officer, Josh Geballe, said Wednesday. Though the majority of positive tests have come from the southwestern part of the state, there is now at least one confirmed case in five of the state’s eight counties.

The true number of cases is assumed to be far higher, with the state’s chief epidemiologist estimating this week there are likely at least 100 infected residents for every one positive test.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced Wednesday the state’s first coronavirus-relateddeath is an elderly man who had suffered “severe complications from COVID-19.” Lamont said the man was in his 80s and had been receiving treatment at Danbury Hospital.

Lamont also revealed that the victim was a resident of an assisted living facility in Ridgefield.

I am not sure what the end goal is with this, i get that we are trying to limit the spread as much as possible by trying to isolate everybody as much as possible but once all of these lock downs and isolations are over surely its only going to take one person to start the cycle all over again until a vaccine is made? Is there something i am missing?

For California, that's about a 2.3% death rate of tested cases (who are almost entirely people who are symptomatic). I'd love to see a breakdown by transmission method, but I suspect we'll have to wait for that.

Oh hell, no! I would rather go home bleeding than get on a cruise ship!
Is there a more unsanitary vessel? We here of cruise ship probs nonstop. I can’t imagine recovering in a hospital bed only to be told “good morning, we are moving you to a Carnival ship.” I would resist. I doubt anyone can force a patient to move.

It was approved and reviewed by FDA, March 16th and was used in China and is currently in Italy.

I see this being uses by EMS in the field, especially if and when hospital become overwhelmed.

All test and drugs have many disclaimers. It has good valve and will be used.

Let us all bow our heads. Doesn’t matter your religion. If you don’t believe, just give it a moment of silence.

Wondering if ppl are buying extra freezers?

I feel fortunate to have a yard big enough o plant veggies. And also because of location, close to bay/ocean water, have friends that have property on bay, fishing, crabbing and oysters which we have here now. Meat is the concern, shouldn’t have a problem with that at this time, hubby is hunter so that helps.

Hoping ppl on ss are included in the pay out.
Thinking about it!

She’s on the road! Lol left about an hour after I posted. Dropped her dog off for my friend to watch & gave her $500 to dog sit, pick up mail & watch house. I only hope the poor woman has a risks free trip what if she breaks an acrylic nail?
Well at least her priorities are pretty clear----- SMH
