I cannot believe how people in this town are supporting us!
We had a customer tonight bring us 3 huge bags of grapefruits from their trees.
I had a horrible toothache, could not get in to anywhere for help.
A doctor customer gave me pills to take care of it. All he wants in return in my stuffed mushroom recipe!
My neighbor left a bag of lemons from her tree on my doorstep.
It's been just my husband and our cook running our Mom and Pop restaurant of 70 seats, and it's been cold and raining all week.
Miserable weather, but, our customers... Wow.
Hubby is 72 and I am 66. Years young.
I am in tears.
Your community sounds very loving! Can you send me your Stuffed Mushroom recipe also?

Question:
Any of you socializing in small groups at home, respecting the distance guidelines?
I’m single & accustomed to being out & about. Staying home only bothers me during adverse weather, like today.

Even though you stay home, you can do fun events like a Kahoots or Trivia or Headsup over Zoom with your friends. I'm sure there's some good ideas out there. There are online platforms to play Settlers, Monopoly or other board games together.

Netflix has a “party-mode” where you can watch a movie together and chat together throughout it.

Contests or Art sharing— Meme making contest, poetry writing, song lyrics— you could collect your friend's submissions and highlight them on Facebook or Instagram.

I might be utilizing mismatched socks.. I knew I saved them for a reason....
However.. the warehouse that i work at had 6 emergency full semi deliveries today of toilet paper so we could ship to the 152 stores we supply...so hopefully soon.

Can you tell us where they are being shipped? LMAO

Can you get to the moon? Might be a good time to hang in space.
Also, our local dentists are consulting only, unless emergency service is needed. They are asking patients to wash hands and rinse mouth with hydrogen peroxide rinse. I have been carrying mouthwash in my car & the few Xs I was out, I used listerine. I thought maybe if any germs got in my mouth it’d kill ‘em? Thoughts?

Many mouthwashes, including Listerine, are antiseptic. It will state 'antiseptic' under the brand name. Newer plaque reducing or whitening mouthwashes usually are not antiseptic. Think about the name. Lister-ine. Joseph Lister pioneering antiseptic protocols.

I wonder if genetics is a component of how your body reacts to the virus, much like many other diseases. Hmm...off to see what I can find out.

I think the answer to this is no and there were underlying medical conditions. (Which I suppose genetics could play a role in the medical conditions but that is another topic.)

OMG, I remember that too! It was so exciting!

Wise words - tissues and other non TP products can clog septic tanks and sewers. Be careful!

It's more important not to run behind pesticide trucks, frankly.

China appears to be pesticiding its nation (hard to tell) but for what? We're not dealing with bacteria or fungus.

I noticed Lonetraveler had a comment about toilet paper not being available and I have the same question: i mean this is the United States of America- i know people are hoarding but how come Costco and other supermarkets don't have toilet paper? you mean there is a shortage? i read there isn't so what is the deal.

Each store is limited in size. Each store is a fixed distance from warehouses. For my local stores, the warehouses are about 70-80 miles away. They typically spend the fuel once a week. They have drivers for once a week. Now they're trying to hire more drivers and that's not happening very quickly.

Hence, no TP. Each store has sold its entire usual allotment and even those big stores that got an extra delivery this week have sold ALL of it. People are going into stores and hitting the paper aisle (I'd love me some paper towels) and buying EVERYTHING. Most people have friends and family who can't make it to the store.

Meanwhile, there are still vanilla wafers. Most places. No bananas anywhere.

I stopped paying them immediately. They'll catch up with me eventually, but right now we need the money. California has been bragging about it's money surplus for years. Great. They can wait for my money, while I borrow from them to stay open. Moo.

I think some businesses pay their taxes on a quarterly basis so as soon as the US government hits the first quarter and they see their tax revenue payments greatly reduced because of all the shut downs, its going to be interesting to see if they start to change their mind on some of the business closures.

Warner-Lambert, a Lambert heir was my neighbor & remains a close friend.
I will continue to carry it with me, if I’m out, I’ll rinse my mouth can’t hurt. I’m all for germ eradication.

honestly, the writer of this article can spare me the BS psychology---lots of
people are not hoarding and i have no use for the selfish peop!e who are-
they simply dont care about anyone but themselves--they make me sick

I just bought a 2 of those medium sized multi-packs, enough to last us about 3 weeks or so. That's plenty. Sad to see some folks can't find any now. It will all be caught up soon, though. Pretty sure we still make most of our own tp, diapers, etc. here in the US.

It's getting real here in New York. We've topped 5k and getting close to the 6k mark of active cases in our state.

My son may be on his way down state. They simply don't have enough manpower to handle the demand down there. Meanwhile, his firehouse is on lock down. Only essential people should be there. He is busier and busier. The rate of robberies and violent crimes has been increasing. (I may be "coming out of retirement" at this rate.) His chief is requesting deferment for them because it would leave our county short and more vulnerable than it all ready is.

The streets are empty. We are all at a standstill. It's eerie.

Finally caught up on threads for last 24 hours or so, and see that Margarita, you asked me if I hoped or planned to travel to Beijing in the future. Sorry I didn't answer earlier.

We've been going to Beijing every spring for the last 20 years. This year we couldn't go, of course. Don't know what the future holds long-term. There is the coronavirus situation, obviously, but also the political situation. The communist government has been doing more and more surveillance and it is harder and harder to stay off their radar screen. We have family there, and very close friends, and hopefully will get to see them again. Right now we are just focused on trying to survive the pandemic, and are hunkered down like everyone else, trying not to go anywhere, except pharmacy if needed for prescription renewals, and if the food runs out, may have to figure that one out, too. We are doing the 15 day quarantine, and I am working remotely. It's harder than I thought it would be. Lots of distractions, so I often have to work late into the evening to get all my work done. But am grateful to have that option for now.

it's interesting to me how different locations have different shortages
