Yes, we are doing good. It is just so sad to see so much panic . I really wish ppl silently prepared weeks ago . Daily mental health discussions at our dinner table is becoming vital while we all watch the world deal with this virus.

Glad to hear you and your family are doing ok.

Is there some resource or something that has helped your family the most when you bring up the subject of mental health with them?

Its become a big part of this crisis now and im trying to figure out what can help the most when I talk with other family members.

I’m all caught up here. That knot of stressy-nausea that’s been sitting on my chest lately- it’s back with a vengeance.
@Henry2326 a sincere thank you for the amount of research and thought you put into all your posts here. It’s very much appreciated.

Prepare Now for Long War Against Covid-19. With Richard Danzig. We propose scale up of serology, war-level production of medical countermeasures, national effort on education, preparing for safe democratic November elections, infrastructure strengthening Prepare Now for the Long War Against Covid-19
Marc Lipsitch on Twitter

Very thoughtful article with some very important points for the next year.

From what I have read, the serologic pattern of SARS-CoV-2 is very unusual and does not follow the ususal immunologic response seen in infections with other viral classses, such as influenza viruses, herpesviruses, hepatitis B or C.

This is making the development of a VALID and SPECIFIC serologic test quite difficult at this point. Also, we are not yet that far out to be confident about the immunologic response. Most studies need to follow people for 6months to a year.

Also small convenience stores carry basic grocery items.

Absolutely a great tip. The convenience stores usually have frequent trucks that come by to restock the stores frequently during the day even.

We scored some disenfectant cleaning supplies at one the other day.

They usualy have milk, water, and other essentials but they usually dont have huge volumes so you may have to try a few of them to hit the gold mine.

Now I’m wondering if payments are delayed without accruing interest if you owe the government?

Usually they are not.

In prior years when the April 15 date was moved, all payments due to the IRS were required to be paid by April 15, and penalties accrued if they were delayed to the new July 15 date.

We have always had open discussions about our feelings at dinner time so no resources that we lean on. We just stress that open communication good or not so good is important to deal with . We have found that our teens and college kid are more open with us when we say no judgment will happen. My junior high school daughter is dealing with despair right now with all the school related events and social clubs she is in are cancelled. Her spring sports is cancelled too and she is feeling out of touch. We are limiting social media platforms for a bit for her.

I know, but as you know, not everyone has money on hand to buy ahead, or the time or mental or physical capacity to do the planning, or even much access to food. Not everyone could start working from home ahead of time. So we all need to help each other.

Mayo Clinic can now process up to 4,000 #COVID19 test samples daily, after a significant expansion of capacity at @mayocliniclabs. Mayo Clinic Laboratories significantly expands testing capability for the COVID-19 virus #Coronavirus Mayo Clinic on Twitter

And other medical laboratories that use the same Roche Cobas instruments and can get ahold of the recently FDA-approved Roche reagent system optimized for automated testing will also soon be able to validate and run larger numbers of tests

Detroit-Windsor Tunnel prepares for closure to 'non-essential personnel'

The United States and Canada are moving to temporarily close their shared border to "non-essential" traffic to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, though trade and people who cross the boundary for work won't be affected, officials said.

It is unclear when the closure will begin affecting travelers and what kind of documentation workers will need to cross, as officials continued to sort out details.

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and Ambassador Bridge remained open as of Wednesday, as well as the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron and the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, with tunnel officials saying they were preparing for closure to "nonessential personnel, including regular travelers, as advised by the U.S. and Canadian governments."...

So Florida finally issued orders closing the beach? Ridiculous. Way too late.
Yes, and they don't close until Monday in my area (Pinellas county).

I realize that re the financial aspects but so much more in preparation with out the money part could have happened. SO many ppl brushed off the virus as not a big deal. I didn't spend lot of money when preparing. I just added a few more items each grocery shopping trip and we usually do a big one time Costco trip once a mth.

Thank you and that is great advice to just have honest and open communication.

Some of that is lacking within my family right now.

Just talk more and hear each other out and you will see results. Give each family member time to express themselves with the varied opinions. Hugs

Dr. Maria from WHO being interviewed ETA: this interview was ???? LONG TIME AGO... Just found it. Not sure when it was done.... I thought was new as it says "live" but this was done even before it was declared a global health emergency.... as said in the interview. I would delete this post, but I'm leaving it up as interesting to go back and view. I was mislead s to when the interview was done as current stats surround the interview...

Agree. Bread is fun to make, and can be addicting. I picked up extra flour, sugar and yeast.

It's finding the flour right now that it the tough part in my area.

Flour is depleted from the shelves in my area, and from on-line sources.

It makes the house smell so good too, and brings up memories of my Grandma :)
