It's finding the flour right now that it the tough part in my area.

Flour is depleted from the shelves in my area, and from on-line sources.
Almond flour is still available and I use that instead of the reg flour. Much healthier for you!

We really need a thread about things that make you laugh.

My daughter calls me this morning, "Mom, my Dad is wearing gloves and a mask every where, do you think that is "normal" or messed up?".

WTH? A few months ago, that would merit a psych consult. Today, I don't know, "Ask him if he has any extras for you.".

Have a good day peeps!

I just spoke with my neighbour from much more than 6 ft. She retired last year from our local Hospital. She received a call to come back. She is thinking about it. Very hard decisions for folks right now.

He's a rock star....put it this way, I would believe him over any politician or media....

This is leading indicators from hospitals. Frankly the Governor probably already has the data. Different organizations have tracked leading indicators of flu for years.

I'm sure you haven't heard.....that's why Topher is telling us.

Thanks for the info--you just never know what kind of info you are getting on
social media--clearly he is credible but and this is a big but: that kind of information is not helpful in and of itself: it could just cause more panic. I want to know what is an atypical fever (okay it is a fever that is not typical compared to what? a typical fever?)-- where in Florida? all over, any place in particular, other symptoms with it and what does an atypical fever mean in context of the virus!!!

I wonder if genetics is a component of how your body reacts to the virus, much like many other diseases. Hmm...off to see what I can find out.

Excellent question / point.

Yes it would be. The one thing that I am wondering about with that.

Isnt there some major things like Pension Benefits if any companies have them anymore, Social Security benefit rules, Health Insurance rules, and things like that which could cause certain benefits to become null and void because of the official retirement rules?

Im not sure but I think people and the companies need to be sure to have all that ironed out, or people may find they lose some sort of benefits if they begin working full time for the same previous employer they offically retired from.
Maybe companies can hire them as a contractor or something like that?

Re: Arizona governor

"The Republican leader also...
Called on the National Guard to help grocery stores and food banks restock shelves to protect food supplies."

Our country should always have factories available and ready to make medical supplies. We should not rely on another country in case they get ill first or refuse to sell to us.

Exactly.

I was also appalled learning here how many of our drugs come from China too.

Henry, you are the best! You did graphs like this previously that were per capita (vs. one here which is straight numbers). Is your source still doing per capita graphs as for some reason I really liked that one better as a true picture (as so many countries have such different numbers of populations so that made more sense to me in that format)

If you come across such, could you share that one type? Thanks in advance.
I saw it yesterday but didn't grab it. I will keep an eye out.

Just a reminder - for as long as its safe and whoever feels comfortable doing it - the Red Cross needs blood! It was a clean and pleasant experience for me yesterday, and if you have questions, please feel free to PM about procedures I noticed* I hope they can continue to collect. Some folks very brilliantly suggested mobile operations in a previous thread.

I have also posted the reminder on a neighborhood SM site - people are giving advice and offering help/updates, etc. Not sure if I can name it, but Googlable. You also start to see all the need in your area, and ways to help (safely). JMO.

*ETA - or better, you can ask them what measures they are taking if you schedule by phone. I'm sure their website has info as well.

Exactly. Way back when companies started to send jobs overseas, that was the one thing I wish the US government would have forced certain businesses and companies to not allow them to off-shore certain critical jobs that produce products or services that our country relies on. It was foolish at the time and now its showing why it was so foolish.

I’m all caught up here. That knot of stressy-nausea that’s been sitting on my chest lately- it’s back with a vengeance.
@Henry2326 a sincere thank you for the amount of research and thought you put into all your posts here. It’s very much appreciated.
You're welcome....I'm angry, heartsick, worried, and hopeful all at the same time. Knowledge is power and hopefully keeps us safe when we act on it.

I do know several folks who did go back to work here in Ont. Canada after deciding retirement was not something they thought it would be lol. Went back part time. You have an option here to take your Canada Pension and Old Age Security and still work. You can also opt to continue paying into Canada Pension. You have to weigh it out as it all just adds up to what income taxes you will pay. Health Care continues due to Canada's system. One can take Canada Pension at 60 yrs but you take a hit. Old Age is only at age 65.

It makes the house smell so good too, and brings up memories of my Grandma :)

Memories are wonderful, hold fast to them. Some of the "old" ways are worth holding onto also - kindness, honesty, morality, love of God and fellow man. Sometimes the old is better than the new.

As confirmed in the periodic transaction report to Senate Ethics, I was informed of these purchases and sales on February 16, 2020 — three weeks after they were made."

IMO There are "smart" thermometers all over the country that are tied to an app that sends anonymous data to a database. It is a way to track small changes in temperature that are occurring BEFORE data from Doctors and HealthCare makes it to the CDC. The website is easy to use. Just put your zipcode in. There are also links to technical docs that describe the how/what/why
