Whitmer - Executive Order 2020-11 (COVID-19)

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2020-11 (COVID-19)

Acting under the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and Michigan law, I order the following:

Beginning on March 17, 2020 at 9:00 am, and continuing through April 5, 2020 at 5:00 pm, all assemblages of more than 50 people in a single indoor shared space and all events of more than 50 people are prohibited in this state. A single indoor shared space includes but is not limited to a room, hall, cafeteria, auditorium, theater, or gallery. The prohibition on assemblages set forth in this section does not apply to:

health care facilities;

workplaces or portions thereof not open to the public;

the state legislature; and

assemblages for the purpose of mass transit, the purchase of groceries or consumer goods, or the performance of agricultural or construction work.

We also must be prudent as the virus spreads. Let us rely on the good judgement of health care officials and government leaders.

SEATTLE (AP) — Target Corp. apologized Saturday for selling face masks in Seattle stores while hospitals face a dire shortage amid a growing coronavirus outbreak.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said his office intervened when it received reports Saturday that the much-needed N95 masks were on Target shelves.

“Those masks are now on their way to the health care workers who desperately need them,” Inslee wrote on Twitter.

And where does the buck stop? The party goers or FL governor?

On Tuesday FL Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered bars and nightclubs to close for 30 days and directed restaurants to cut their seating capacity by half. That same day he said that beaches could remain open but that groups of more than 10 people would not be allowed in one place.
The edict wasn’t enforced.

Now, with their campuses likely shuttered, most spring breakers will return to hometowns across the country where any exposure to coronavirus could set off a contagion, public-health experts warned.
Will spring breakers become super-spreaders?

Unbelievable that this was allowed to happen! For what ? A drunken party and a financial injection for the community? I was thinking that they should be water cannoned, but that certainly wouldn't come off right. That's what China would have done, and look how well they've put a stop to contagion?

"I’d be more concerned about picking up coronavirus from handling bottled water cases that other people have handled at the store — apparently due to its longevity on hard surfaces — than I am about getting it through drinking water,” Van Abs said.

I think we have to face it, any and every “thing” we touch has the virus germs. Because I fear ticks, I watched a very lengthy video on them. They actually stand on their rear legs using their front legs as feelers....waiting for a host to pass by. Imo, covid is basically the same. It has invaded our world.

Now that is outstanding.....moo
Vanderbilt stepped up immediately after the devastating tornado hit Nashville a few weeks ago. Our neighbor's son is an alum and he collected supplies, drove down there and is still there helping out as a volunteer.

Regarding getting food to health care workers:
Maybe the grocery stores could have a special "instacart" type app only available to those who work in healthcare, or at a specific hospital or care center. Would it help the problem if their groceries could be delivered to their place of employment (hospital, etc.) on a weekly basis? IMO

This is a great idea and I can see California implementing something like that (especially after today's uplifting strategic presser by our governor, Gavin Newsom).

I guess I can somewhat understand some people not getting it, when some of us are not receiving factual info. It gives false hope. Gov’ Cuomo is at the far end of the spectrum, I think he comes across in a matter of fact manner & people believe him. He gets down to biz during his PC. Again, our gov’ likes to chit chat about his kids, his mom, pass out awards & waste time. What he does not want to discuss is Covid. He’s very calm & all smiles. He can smile, he gets to send KSP on errands.

US Army scientists are on the front lines in fight against coronavirus

To protect against infection, the researchers wear two sets of rubber gloves, a double layer of protective scrubs and a protective double shrouded head covering attached to a portable air respirator.

Other researchers at USAMRIID -- who work on the deadlier Ebola virus -- wear even more protective clothing including: specially designed rubber suits and head coverings that surround the scientist with positive pressure airflow.

If I had a family member alone, or I needed some space from my loved one. I would order an Amazon Echo 3rd generation.
They're $49.00 on Amazon. We got our first one about 3 weeks ago.
A very fun, interactive computer.
Can keep you engaged for hours a day.

A great present to cheer someone up. Imo

I'm so sorry to hear about your son's job, but I'm glad Louisiana is stepping up! (It's times like this you realize how small the world really is!) I hope your family takes care and stays well!
Thank you! It’s a new reality.

I did go out for the first time other than work which has been very minimal. Realized we had no Tylenol. I think the last time I or husband took any was maybe 2 years ago or more. Had my errand broken down in steps. Winter gloves, hand sanitizer etc. etc. Shoppers Drug Mart now has a Security Guard at the door. Asks you usual questions re: travel etc.

I went out today for an emergency run, saw maybe 20 cars on the roads. Lots of people were walking in the neighborhood, but the streets were very quiet for a Saturday afternoon in a city of between 1 and 2 million. The shop keeper put on a fresh pair of gloves.

I started self-isolating 2 weeks ago, but was forced to go to work on Wednesday and Friday last week. Two people at meetings I attended have since reported minor cold symptoms. One person took vacation to avoid pressure to go to work. So far all is well. Sick people at work, but not in the team.

Keep in mind that fever fights illness. Controlling fever with coronavirus may not be the best option - mixed messaging again. My son knew to avoid ibuprofen for his "allergies". Chinese said early on to let fever run its course, but if fever doesn't fix it I suppose it's lights out.

Be very careful. Take shoes off in the garage and put mail in the garage for a couple of days. Don't use plastic bags from the supermarket - use paper or cloth bag for groceries.

Yep I use cloth bags and they go right into washer. Husband does the grocery run and we keep that minimal.

So strange to think about a simple errand becoming a real task. I break it down as to what I am touching and what I need to do. I even sanitized my bank card. Hope it still works lol

It's frightening to go on an errand today. We know that we have to count for 5 days from today to see if we're safe. First symptoms show up at 5 days. Sick by 14. Death by 18. Recovery by 20. Dailymail article lays it out with medical references.

I cannot explain how very angry I am against the Chinese regime's deception.

I got the Tylenol as Husband is prone to sinus headaches with weather changes. Advil works like a charm for him but he knows that is not a good option right now.

My son is in DC and I am worried sick. The people there are like in NYC, live on top of each other. It is beyond my comprehension but he loves it there. I prefer no one around me.

Since the rent is so outrageous there are group homes. You rent a bedroom and share the main living areas such as the kitchen, dining area and living room. Sounds like pure misery to me.

I feel for you. That's how my son lived in Melbourne. He wondered if people living farther apart, less populated areas, would fare better.
