Emma had no pre-existing conditions. She has not traveled recently and it's unknown how she contracted the virus, according to Anthony.

There are 330,000,000 of us. To truly understand the factors behind why some are so at risk would take lots of data.

We don't have that data and are limping along on state-by-state efforts that may or may not be generalizable.

The horror of it all! How ever can we survive without nail and tanning and salon services???

My blow-out bar closed. Jeez no mani-pedi or blow out? What’s a crone to do?
Likely because alcohol is both highly taxed and there is no reason to restrict it.
Many cultures have a ritual of having a glass of wine with a meal. If folks want to shelter in place with a glass of wine or a shot of my son's pecan whisky, I'm all in.

mmm I can make citrus bounce. Just a Creole-Cajun thought with surplus of citrus

Or maybe the risk of a bunch of drunks with no booze is too great? I went for beer today, the liquor store was busy.
To any of you that can get out in the fresh air, do so. It really clears your head. I went horseback riding on three huge, contiguous farms. Despite the cold, it was awesome!
Lotsa calves on the ground, renewed hope.....
We all maintained distance but could enjoy convo & Covid 19 was not discussed, it was “look, look....see that hawk”, type convo. I was tasked with wiping beer bottles before loading saddle bags, but I got my horse groomed & saddled in return!

McDonalds will close all 1,270 of its restaurants in the UK by the end of Monday, as fears over the spread of coronavirus escalate. Previously, the fast food giant had closed its seating areas but had continued to offer takeaway and drive-through services.

McDonald's employs around 135,000 people in the UK, the majority of which are on zero-hours contracts. The chain said staff employed directly by the company would receive full pay for their scheduled hours until 5 April.

McDonald's to close all UK restaurants

John Lewis (high end department store) is all closing all branches which has never happened:

The shop has never before closed its stores apart from when the flagship John Lewis on Oxford Street was bombed in 1940 during World War Two, and even then partners retained trade by setting up a desk outside the shop and took orders to other shops.

Hopefully US will follow suit. I think the risk is too great, even via drive thru. The same people are working that worked prior to Covid 19. Moo

Given that our young are overweight or obese in larger numbers and given that those same youth are disproportionately from lower socioeconomic levels and

Given that our young have a higher rate of diabetes 2

...we will see different profiles for mortality here. Also, we have high rates of depression and anxiety in younger people, and depression is not good for the immune system. I suspect anxiety is not good either.

Do Depression Symptoms Predict Early Hypertension Incidence in Young Adults in the CARDIA Study?

At any rate, our youth don't always get exercise, live in polluted circumstances (worsened since EPA regulations were lowered), and science can't keep up with it.

This event will give fodder for thousands of future studies - but without federal funding, the results will be localized to California, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington and Oregon (IMO)
I definitely agree with the fodder for future studies. The truth always comes out. In the effort to keep everyone calm, I don’t believe the nitty gritty details of this pandemic are publicly known by the general population, at the moment. JMO. Much like the reality of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is different than was what initially reported. Scientists are still studying the effects from that. The GOM is still recovering.

Globally, I hope the leaders learn from this. The medical industry devises more/better emergency resources faster. The school leaders learn that they can successfully educate online. Employers finally get on board with work from home options. Wages go up for basics like child/adult care and service staff. And, most importantly, parents actually learn to parent.

Rand Paul, really? He’s a doctor. What an example.
How many other Rand’s are out spreading the evil virus between testing & results. He should be ashamed, imo.
We all know, if a person is tested, they met criteria, so they are considered exposed & must isolate. Exemption for politicians? I think not. Moo

My daily pups walk and car ride really helps to clear my mind.
I just did a live yoga class - online with Zoom - with the owner of the studio I attend. Complete with meditation.

May I/You be happy.
May I/You be healthy.
May I/You be safe.
May I/You live life at ease.

I share this with you all. xoxo

Made you feel better, right?
I’m okay with things....I can fulfill my part, what I can not do is be responsible for another that cares none. One thing that disturbed me today was the elderly woman in a beat up car next to me at a traffic light. She had zero expression & was not the “best” driver, iykwim. She was prob’ 80ish & headed to WMT. She must be terrified......
WMT was packed, I hope she found what she needed.

He has no symptoms and no known contact with anyone infected. The test was done because of his extensive travels. Out of an abundance of caution.

Given we are in for a long haul, I really hope people will continue with their kindness once we come out the other side. We are really learning what truly matters.

Severe Outcomes Among Patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19

In this report, COVID-19 cases in the United States that occurred during February 12–March 16, 2020 and severity of disease (hospitalization, admission to intensive care unit [ICU], and death) were analyzed by age group. As of March 16, a total of 4,226 COVID-19 cases in the United States had been reported to CDC, with multiple cases reported among older adults living in long-term care facilities (4). Overall, 31% of cases, 45% of hospitalizations, 53% of ICU admissions, and 80% of deaths associated with COVID-19 were among adults aged ≥65 years with the highest percentage of severe outcomes among persons aged ≥85 years. In contrast, no ICU admissions or deaths were reported among persons aged ≤19 years. Similar to reports from other countries, this finding suggests that the risk for serious disease and death from COVID-19 is higher in older age groups....

Among 2,449 patients with known age, 6% were aged ≥85, 25% were aged 65–84 years, 18% each were aged 55–64 years and 45–54 years, and 29% were aged 20–44 years (Figure 2). Only 5% of cases occurred in persons aged 0–19 years....

Poor Lady Trudie, that poor woman needs someone to buy her groceries. Walmart used to stress me out until they opened one on every corner - spreads the crowd.

We can only hope!!!
