Mexico coronavirus: Governor claims poor are 'immune' from coronavirus - CNN

The governor of the central Mexican state of Puebla told reporters that poor people "are immune" from the coronavirus.

During his remarks, which broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook, Gov. Luis Miguel Barbosa posed a question, asking reporters which people were infected at the moment.

"The majority are wealthy people, you know," he said, answering his own question. "If you're rich you're at risk, but if you're poor, no, well us poor, we are immune."

According to Raffat, the study found that 87% of patients on hydroxychloroquine experienced biological clearance by day 7,
compared with 97% of patients in the control arm."

I am so glad for this thread. It may have actually saved lives here. When there was a "What to do this week" in our town paper, March 7, 2020, I actually "outed" myself as a "lunatic" naysayer. I wrote in the comments section of the newspaper article that it was absolute "insanity" to promote any type of parades, concerts, plays, meetings because of the fast spreading CV19.

It was at that time, becoming an emerging issue in Seattle.

And maybe someone realized that it was "insanity", because the next day most of the events were cancelled.

I would have never done that before. Thank you @Henry2326

CALIFORNIA.....HOWARD FORMAN

#California is complicated thread:
CA apparently #TESTING at low rate AND not getting results quite so quickly.
State is TWICE the size of NYS, but only seem to have tested 10K yesterday (compared with NYS at 22K yesterday). 1/x

Their positive rate is 14.8% for results as of last evening.
They have 57,400 tests pending results (!!): This implies that as many as 8500 positive patients will be reported in the coming days, moving CA well ahead of NJ in the coming days, and just behind NYS. 2/x

This remains a problem if they continue to only test 10K per day. NJ is testing twice the per-capita rate as CA. NY is testing almost 4X the per capita rate. #Testing is ABSOLUTELY necessary to mitigate/suppress cases, make policy decisions. CA is NOT alone. More to follow. 3/x

NYC

<snip, BBM> FDNY handled more than 6,000 calls in a day

On Thursday, the FDNY handled more than 6,000 911 calls, on what was the busiest day ever for FDNY paramedics in terms of individual medical incidents.
The number is nearly double the normal amount of 911 calls and far in excess of the busiest days for medical incidents, which are New Year's Eve and July 4th during a heat wave.

The record-high call volume is largely being driven by sick calls from people who are scared or concerned they have coronavirus. The FDNY is imploring people not to call 911 if they feel sick. Instead, they should call a doctor and only call for an ambulance in a true emergency.

Coronavirus Update: NYC nurse among 365 dead from coronavirus, more than 23K cases

The amount of information/misinformation about COVID19 is staggering. Who knows what to believe any more?
This is so true for me too! Some days I feel like "what's the big deal?" might as well throw caution to the wind (especially living in South Carolina, the 'ignorance is bliss' state) but then other days I want to quit my job and never leave the house again!

Well, I ended up needing to get bread from WMT, as always I was the only “solo” shopper. I hope the 2-3 yo twin boys both sucking their thumbs and dragging “bankies” don’t die as a result of mom & dad BOTH needing to peruse the WMT store. Moo. I think I’m set for two weeks. I’ll be leaving home on horseback, the one place I can escape Covid & clear my head.

Wonderful! There were 2 large events here in my county in the city of Seaside Heights, that were NOT cancelled, nor did anyone question why they were still being held. Thank goodness I knew this virus was spreading and did not attend.

An extremely crowded Special Olympics polar bear plunge on the beach on February 22. Bars and restaurants alone the boardwalk in Seaside Heights were open. We watched on cam, and a lot of people were passing around the same towel to dry off and I can only image those who were coughing and sneezing after taking a dip.

Another event was the largely popular St. Patrick's Day parade, also in Seaside Heights. Families young and old lined the Boulevard shoulder-to-shoulder and drink and partied in the bars along the route. That event was held March 7th.

Right now there are over 300+ people in this county confirmed to have the virus. More testing venues are opening Monday (Ocean County College).

It's only going to get worse.

Just to give you a visual, here is a picture from the Polar Bear plunge:
