Looks like we won't be having a presser today at 11? (ETA: Looks like our Dr. Mike, Maria and Tedros are not on this live feed below, so I guess it will happen??)

Due to the unprecedented challenge posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the work of the United Nations, the Presidents of the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council and the Secretary-General will convene a joint virtual briefing for Member States. The briefing will focus on outreach to Member States and other stakeholders, including the measures taken to mitigate the impact of this pandemic on the work of the Organisation, as well as the activities of the Principal Organs of the United Nations during this crisis. The Secretary-General will also update Member States on efforts across the United Nations system to respond to the crisis in its multiple dimensions and plan for the global recovery.

"We are tracking growth in cases by City. New York still represents the epicenter of the U.S. epidemic. But over the last week, #COVID19 cases are building in other cities, especially New Orleans, Detroit, and Miami, Chicago, LA. "Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter

Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri
The station encourages fast food lovers in its Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri listening area to consider paying for the order of the car behind them when going through a drive-through to "pay it forward."

Today, the station puts a spin on the concept in response to struggles induced by the spread of the coronavirus. For those who want to help during this time but are limited by social distancing guidelines, KLRC invites the community to participate in Delivery Difference Day.

Delivery Difference Day encourages people to call a local restaurant and arrange to send a meal to someone they know working harder and longer hours due to the outbreak -- medical professionals, retail store associates, first responders -- anyone who is working diligently to ensure supplies and care are maintained during this stressful time.

The hope is that Delivery Difference Day will brighten someone's day and encourage those on the front lines, while also supporting local restaurants.

"One of our core values at KLRC is to care for our community," Sean Sawatzky, KLRC general manager, said in a press release Wednesday. "We've been entrusted with a great platform and megaphone to promote ways that we come together during these difficult days. Our plan is to communicate new ideas each Friday to encourage a different segment of the population in positive ways."

Those who participate in Delivery Difference Day can share their story on the KLRC mobile app, call 800-909-KLRC, send KLRC a message on Facebook, or email via the contact page on klrc.com. The station shares these helpful tips for serving others through the initiative:

• Choose a friend or family you know who could use some encouragement or who is working for the benefit of others.

• Pick out a local business to support that is offering delivery or curbside pickup services.

• Today, place an order for a meal and have it delivered directly (don't forget a tip for the delivery driver) or pick it up and deliver to the home porch or workplace.

• Finally, in the notes on the order, leave a quick note sharing that you're participating in Delivery Difference Day and let them know they are appreciated.

@imstilla.grandma, Thank you so much for your posts that remind us to be positive, kind, and creative role models to our young ones right now. I count on seeing them - they calm me. And I love seeing that quote from Chief Tecumsah at the bottom of your post. It is so true.

WASHINGTON

"A huge increase across the state today (+627) but that might have been expected as yesterday's number of 2,580 was a "best estimate" and only had a 111 case increase from the day before.
Also thank you @WADeptHealth for getting the numbers in earlier today." alex halverson on Twitter

Boris Johnson was shaking hands with everybody, even when he went to the hospital where there might have been a few covid patients. Is it surprising he has covid now?

I saw you question refrigerator trucks in the last thread.
"A refrigerated truck has been
stationed outside to hold the bodies of the dead. Over the past 24 hours, New York City’s public hospital system said in a statement, 13 people at Elmhurst had died."
It was a SEMI TRUCK backed up to the hospital in the video of the Doctor at Elmhurst stating she didn't have the supplies she needed
It's in this article.

Coronavirus: Crocs giving free footwear to health care workers

"Over the past week, we have spoken to healthcare workers, their facilities and even their family and friends, and they have specifically asked for our shoes in an effort to provide ease on their feet, as well as ease of mind as they need the ability to easily clean up before they go home to their families," said Crocs president and CEO Andrew Rees in a statement."

"Here is the info I cite that this is not just dangerous for the elderly, that a quarter of people age 45-54 need hospitalization, and 5-10%, need ICU care to survive."

We have decided that we would like to donate all our refurbished bikes to key workers who need a bike to get to and from work and who perhaps would struggle financially right now to afford a bike. More details to follow...
upload_2020-3-27_9-13-9.jpeg

If you think those battling to care for our most sick and vulnerable, to keep our shelves stocked, transport services running, people fed are already having it tough, few of us would have considered they might be having trouble even getting to the front line itself.

Demand for bicycles has immediately outstripped supply and the business is now launching an appeal to enable it to deliver even more bikes to the army of silent heroes who also want to remain healthy during the crisis.

Which is why Punchline has singled it out as one of what it is calling its Business and Community Champions, a roll call of honour being sponsored by the county's local enterprise partnership GFirst LEP.

The requests we are getting are so varied, from people who have to be at work stocking shelves at 2am and then has to walk home after their 10 hour shift because they no longer have a lift, a cook at a care home who has to use public transport even though he has a lung condition, respiratory nurses, oncology nurses, people who can't afford to get their car back on the road who were using public transport but are too scared to so have to walk, school staff supporting vulnerable kids at school, a care workers wife has asked for a bike for he husband who can't stay at home as two of the children are classed as vulnerable and so who has to walk two miles to the river so they can shout I love you daddy across the river bank...... so many heart wrenching stories.

"I can't tell you how much we want to say 'yes' to everyone who needs a bike to feel safe and stay well in this."

GEORGIA.....ummmm... hes ok if the locals do it, but hes not going to....ok

Several Metro city leaders were given a presentation Monday that prompted their emergency declarations . It was made by @CarlosdelRio7 , and warned of grim outcomes without a shelter-in-place. Hear from some of those leaders at 11 @wsbtv
Nicole Carr on Twitter

Kemp asked why no shelter in place order says he’s listening to data, Dr. Toomey and his team. Said his task force has “the brightest of minds in this state.” Says governing the state is different than what cities have done, though he said he’s supportive of mayors locking down.

I've watched Dr. Toomey speak... she IS NOT as knowledgeable as 90% of those who have been on this thread. MOO.
