I'm doing ok mostly. My husband is furious. He wants me to get out of nursing, as he says, what good is a nursing license if you're dead....I do have a low grade temp, headache and runny nose. I will probably be checking to see if I can be tested later today. I'm too mentally exhausted to deal with it right now.
I’m speechless......I can’t say “I know how you feel.” I have many acquaintances in med’ fields, all terrified.
As a normal (?) citizen, I’m terrified to go to any public venue, when I must. I don’t have high blood pressure but when I see large family units shopping, I think my BP soars. I just don’t get the inability of so many to not heed directives. School in my area was dismissed so kids would not spread the virus, now they are spreading it more, imo.
best wishes & thank you for your service

eta: if I had small children, I’d be terrified of a shortage of pediatric ventilators & other equipment required for children. Moo

This isn't call my and I'm not a moderator, but I want to give an opinion that no body asked for.

I think this is a discussion board where we discuss and educate one another on Coronavirus.

The continual dumping of links, and text from links, just buries any discussion. The pages move so fast that no one has time to go back.

We all can (and do) Google info on COVID-19.

Just suggesting that if you post a link, discuss what it means to you.

SIA (sorry in advance).

I think it is critically important to get vital information to the members here that might need it. Not all information about this tragic crisis needs to be discussed or commented on. Just my opinion.

WHO:
“Geneva, 23 March 2020:
FIFA, the international governing body of football, and the World Health Organization (WHO) have teamed up to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) by launching a new awareness campaign led by world-renowned footballers, who are calling on all people around the world to follow five key steps to stop the spread of the disease.

The “Pass the message to kick out coronavirus” campaign promotes five key steps for people to follow to protect their health in line with WHO guidance, focused on hand washing, coughing etiquette, not touching your face, physical distance and staying home if feeling unwell.

“FIFA and its President Gianni Infantino have been actively involved in passing the message against this pandemic since the very beginning,” said WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the virtual launch of the campaign at WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. “Be it through campaigns or funding, FIFA has stood up to the coronavirus, and I am delighted that world football is supporting WHO to kick out the coronavirus. I have no doubt with this type of support that together we will win.”

“We need teamwork to combat the coronavirus,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “FIFA has teamed up with WHO because health comes first. I call upon the football community worldwide to join us in supporting this campaign to pass the message even further. Some of the greatest players to have played the beautiful game have put their names to the campaign and are united in their desire to pass the message to kick out COVID-19.”

Twenty-eight players are involved in the video campaign, which is being published in 13 languages.

Sami Al Jaber (KSA), Alisson Becker (BRA), Emre Belözoğlu (TUR), Jared Borgetti (MEX), Gianluigi Buffon (ITA), Iker Casillas (ESP), Sunil Chhetri (IND), Youri Djorkaeff (FRA), Han Duan (CHN), Samuel Eto’o (CMR), Radamel Falcao (COL), Laura Georges (FRA), Valeri Karpin (RUS), Miroslav Klose (GER), Philipp Lahm (GER), Gary Lineker (ENG), Carli Lloyd (USA), Lionel Messi (ARG), Mido (EGY), Michael Owen (ENG), Park Ji-sung (KOR) , Carles Puyol (ESP), Célia Šašić (GER), Asako Takakura (JPN), Yaya Touré (CIV), Juan Sebastián Verón (ARG), Sun Wen (CHN) and Xavi Hernández (ESP).

A video campaign, which will be published on player and FIFA digital channels, is also being provided as individual localized files to the 211 FIFA member associations and media agencies, together with a graphics toolkit for implementation on social media to further pass the message.”

"I’ve respected #DeborahBirx for years. Not sure I trust her any longer. Tonight she said everyone who needs an ICU bed or a ventilator will get one. I’d ask hospital administrators & physicians to speak out now. How close are you to maxing out on capacity?" #coronavirus
Gregg Gonsalves on Twitter
I believe she has lost respect in her field. Very unfortunate that she has put such a black mark on an otherwise stellar career.

Ita & I think Coco advised against debating. I simply scroll if a link doesn’t interest me or is repetitious. Moo

UK

The Department of Health rejected high-level medical advice about providing NHS staff with certain protective equipment during an influenza pandemic because stockpiling it would be too expensive, the Guardian can reveal.

Documents show that officials working under former health secretary Jeremy Hunt told medical advisers three years ago to “reconsider” a formal recommendation that eye protection should be provided to all healthcare professionals who have close contact with pandemic influenza patients.

The expert advice was watered down after an “economic assessment” found a medical recommendation about providing visors or safety glasses to all hospital, ambulance and social care staff who have close contact with pandemic influenza patients would “substantially increase” the costs of stockpiling.

The documents may help explain a devastating shortage of protective gear in the NHS that is hampering efforts by medical staff to manage the Covid-19 virus pandemic.

Advice on protective gear for NHS staff was rejected owing to cost

I just ask people to not post multi-page studies and transcripts. An interview with a doctor posted earlier froze my phone twice trying to scroll by. Post a summary and a link. We can click if we’re interested.

Lol, I’m almost afraid to eat. The longer my food lasts, the longer I can avoid stores.
Getting one loaf of bread nearly caused me a panic attack.

Ah, Trudeau's so smooth with the non-answers.

(Not meant as a political comment but rather recognition of Treadeau's ease in delivery, eh?)

My 19 year old just called to tell me he quit his grocery store job on the spot today. He has been there since he was 15. The reason had nothing to do with COVID-19, but I must say I am relieved to have him out of the public.

Maybe his French is just bad... or not (I swear I hear the translator starting to laugh on occasion!)

ETA - all this just for LOL. I can't speak any French, and I admire the man and wish his wife well in her recovery. Translator does sound like she has the giggles, though. Hope so, because we all need some happiness.
