A fellow Kentuckian myself, looking forward to fresh tomatoes! I am hoping we are handling this situation well. My granddaughter is devastated by not having graduation, prom, but seems to be handling it pretty good.
Welcome to Websleuths! BTW I have to share that I saw asparagus that I planted last summer poking up today in my patch. Happiest I've felt in a while :)

2nd death reported in Houston due to coronavirus as number of cases jumps

"HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Another person has died from the novel coronavirus in Houston, Mayor Sylvester Turner said Saturday, as it was revealed that 163 new cases have been identified.

The sudden increase in positive cases brought Houston's total to 232 by early Saturday afternoon. Houston health officials said the jump was due to a batch of reports received from area medicql providers.

Seven Houston police officers have also tested positive.

The details were released in a briefing held at Butler Stadium on Saturday, which has been serving as a coronavirus testing site for first responders and people who've had symptoms. On Saturday, Turner said the site is expanding testing to screen people who aren't exhibiting symptoms."

So now I get it. The states are bidding against each other and the federal government for ventilators so he must think with his federal surplus he’ll try and sell the ones he gets to other countries.

My take is that the states are no longer involved with the acquisitions. He said Navarro is national coordinator for the contracts for ventilators. I don't know about selling anything to other countries or the role WHO plays in it.

I heard that the Farmers Market was open today in downtown Lexington, surprised me!

Well, based on that presser, we the taxpayers are also going to own a "chunk of the airlines". I'll wait and see on anything I hear. But for now, just feeling happy thinking about all those pretzels and teeny ginger ale cans that may be in my future.

Drive-thru testing here a bit of a disappointment - no hazmat suits, no tents, needless to say, no three ring circuses. (Just teasing.) Efficient and prompt, and thank God after - how long? - tests are available.

My job is considered essential here in California so I'm still going to work.

I used to work on Saturday but my work has decided to close on Saturday for who knows how long. This is the first Saturday I've had off in a long time.

We needed some supplies so I went to Foods Co (Kroger) this morning. Looks like the hoarding is subsiding. Last week no eggs or bleach but I was able to get that today. Bread, milk, eggs and meats where plentiful. Water was available in gallons and 12 pack bottles with a 2 per limit.

No lines to get in and not very many people shopping so I was able to keep proper distance from others with not too much effort. I did check out the paper product isle and there was a bunch of Kroger brand paper towel that I didn't need. There was even a few six roll Kroger brand toilet paper still on the shelf that I left for someone else to buy since we still have plenty for now.

That's how my grocery shopping trip went today in Sacramento California.

Well, my area's open air farmer's market is open, too, and it also seemed like a bad idea at first. Haven't been yet, but I suppose if it helps us support local growers, it's not too much riskier than the supermarket. And crowds are down, from what I hear.

I believe this is why the best news today is the possibility of that 15-minute test. EVERYONE is going to have to get tested.. and for a while, after we come out of the worst, before getting on airplanes, trains, work gatherings. What if a percentage of people are nothing but carriers.,

I wonder what we'll do then. Just pondering. Jmo

oh, this would go over big, all we need is people jonesing for nicotine at a time they are already fragile.

For real. I didn’t want to say it. Surely there can be delivery or something. There has to be an alternative. Otherwise...well lemme not go there...let’s just say I can possibly see people breaking quarantine and lockdown to get smokes one way or the other. Again, I still need to read the full article by this too is my automatic reaction to that headline.

Ours is basically open air but under a large pavilion. Probably not too large of a crowd because it is early in the season.

Yeah, she’s at the age where things that are important to her are dif’ than someone older. Many milestones will be missed. I hope she can put her prom dress on & get some pics! Idk if she can have her date in the pic and maintain distancing, lol?
No matter what we enjoy for leisure, we’ve all been impacted, even a walk thru the woods is risky. Not only do we have to lookout for the usual dangers, now we have to lookout for people potentially carrying Covid.

I wonder how many people, who were previously counting on cigarette delivery, future trips, etc are now suddenly flooding stores to go buy cigs after hearing this. This is what just happened in Colorado - Within minutes of the Gov’s announcement to make liquor stores and pot dispensaries non-essential businesses, people suddenly started rushing out and crowding stores, so they reversed that decision as quickly as they implemented it, a few hours iirc moo.

How ridiculous, at a highly crucial time for news. Duh
Tempers are beginning to flare, imo. The first week, some enjoyed sleeping in,working from home, etc., now many are tired of being tired. And afraid.
Good luck to him. ETA - Tampa Bay Times, too.

That's the thing, if the grocery store or farmers market are jammed packed with people I would turn around and leave.

If there's room to separate and keep some distance I will feel much better shopping.

At the Food Co today a young man was cleaning the handle on the shopping cart when you go in. The young lady at the checkout did the same to the belt before I put my stuff on it. Yes, I know that's probably not enough but it helps. I also use hand sanitizer after I left the store. JMO
