Has the governor of Florida addressed this or explain how he is planning on handling over 1,000 of the affected, infected, sick and deceased? Did he or the federal government explain why they are accepting this South American cruise ship?
Oh Fl likely has so many covid patients already, what's some more? The governor doesn't seem all that concerned about covid, he refuses to order any shelter in place.

ACLU objects to giving State Police power to pull over cars with N.Y. plates in response to coronavirus - The Boston Globe

Governor Gina Raimondo on Thursday ordered anyone traveling to Rhode Island from New York to stay quarantined for 14 days, saying the State Police would stop cars with New York license plates to help halt the spread of coronavirus.

The American Civil Liberties Union objected, calling the order an unconstitutional “blunderbuss approach.”

“While the Governor may have the power to suspend some state laws and regulations to address this medical emergency, she cannot suspend the Constitution," said Steven Brown, executive director of the ACLU of Rhode Island.

“Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’ to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how laudable the goal of the stop may be,” he said.
I disagree and applaud the Governor of Rhode Island..... Those Tri-Staters should be home in self-quarantine in their home states as their own Governors have ordered. They pose an "imminent danger" to Rhode Island and any other state they attempt to flee too during this time of crisis.........moo

Rent is due, and coronavirus means many Coloradans don't have the money

“Dozens of letters from landlords to tenants shared either with The Denver Post directly or via the new Facebook group Colorado Rent Strike and Eviction Defenseshow that landlords are taking a wide range of approaches. Some have promised to freeze rent levels for a few months. Many are offering payment plans and saying they’ll work with tenants facing hardship.

Others are continuing to charge late fees, and threatening consequences.

“We WILL exercise to evict you for non-payment ASAP!!!” reads one letter shared with The Post.

“My landlord sent out a mass email saying they are expecting rent on the first, that they’ll still be processing evictions,” Broker said. “It almost feels like my landlord doesn’t care about my life, that they would rather see me die than give me a month of free rent.”

Landlords, for whom few aid sources seem available right now, in many cases say they can’t afford a rent freeze — something advocates have called on Polis to support, but that he’s not backing.

“If people don’t pay their rent, who pays the housing provider’s employees, or the provider’s vendors, cleaning crews?” Lyng said. “Who pays the landlord’s debt obligations, mortgage payments? We’re all just part of this ecosystem. We’re all asking people to work together.””

Jarring photo shows difference between open and closed Florida beach amid coronavirus pandemic

The lack of social distancing in Florida was made clear by a viral photograph posted to Twitter Saturday (yesterday) afternoon. A Jacksonville Beach resident posted this picture showing the stark contrast between an open St. Johns County beach and a closed Duval County beach amid the coronavirus pandemic.

You can see exactly where Duval County ends and St. John’s County begins.

All beaches in Duval are closed, while St. John’s only blocked parking at the beach.

Gov. DeSantis needs to order a state-wide closure of all Florida beaches..

“Food insecurity has grown exponentially during the current health emergency in San Diego. On Saturday, 1,000 cars lined up at SDCCU Stadium for a drive-thru food distribution event, the San Diego Food Bank confirmed.”

[...]

““This is what living paycheck to paycheck looks like. People are hurting. They’re scared right now,” said Keith Maddox, Executive Secretary Treasurer of San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council.”

1,000 San Diego Families Line Up for Drive-Thru Food Distribution: SD Food Bank

I was just discussing this with my Dad. Had this happened a decade ago, I would likely have been one of those people lining up. So many people don’t have the ‘luxury’ (if one can call it that) of stocking up on supplies and have to live hand-to-mouth. It was frightening to me in normal circumstances, I can’t begin to imagine how I’d have coped had the pandemic happened back then...

This makes my heart hurt.

Japan uses targeted coronavirus testing; South Korea goes big. The U.S. faces a choice.

Japan’s infection numbers have remained low, but experts debate whether it’s because the country has tested fewer people, obscuring the reality of the situation.

“TOKYO — In East Asia, two rivals are grappling with the coronavirus pandemic in very different ways: mass testing versus targeted testing.

It's a debate over tactics that has profound implications in the United States and elsewhere, as health officials struggle to find the best methods to track and contain the virus.

South Korea has won global praise for swiftly making coronavirus tests widely available and has already tested more than 394,000 people. It has found 9,583 infected people.

Japan, a country whose population of about 127 million is more than twice that of South Korea, has conducted more than 48,000 tests on around 28,000 people and found 1,724 cases.”

Indiana

Positive cases 1514
Deaths 32
Total tested 9830

ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: Indiana Novel Coronavirus Map
Stats like these reenforces the naysayers belief Covid is not as serious as the media reports, I think.
I wonder how so many negatives are getting tested, when so many with the symptoms are not tested. Appx 85% of IN tested negative per stats. It’d be interesting to know why they were tested, was it due to presumed positive or vague symptoms, and might many of them now be positive? Moo

FRANCOIS BALLOUX

"There have been previous reports in the media of patients having been 'reinfected'. I'm not aware any of these have been confirmed. How long immunisation to #COVID19 lasts for remains unknown, but it is likely to protect against reinfection for ≥1 year. "(2/4)

Some asymptomatic patients might remain #COVID19 positive if they failed to clear the infection. If such healthy 'chronic' carriers remained infectious ('long-term shedders'), this would further add further epidemiological challenges. (3/4).
Mystery In Wuhan: Recovered Coronavirus Patients Test Negative ... Then Positive

It is premature to conclude whether transmission through 'long-term shedding' happens in #COVID19. Though, transmission by healthy 'chronically infected' carriers is known for other viruses (e.g. HSV, genital Herpes) and even bacteria ('Typhoid Mary'). (4/4) Francois Balloux on Twitter

Sorry, the Governor of Rhode Island misunderstood the 4th Amendment. :D
