The Navy announced that it relieved the captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt who sounded the alarm about the COVID-19 outbreak aboard.

Navy relieves captain who sounded alarm about COVID-19 outbreak on aircraft carrier

Someone asked why would they do this ...

By alerting the media the Captain broke military protocol, rules, and regulations. Any information released to the public that is not authorized to be released is viewed as jeopardizing the security and mission of the ship and crew, disobeying an order, conduct unbecoming, and dereliction of duty. Regardless if his ship is being attacked by a virus or by bombs the Captain cannot take it upon himself to release unauthorized information to the media. The Captain cannot pick and chose what rules and regulations he wants to follow in peacetime or war time. IMO, the Captain ruined his career and fell on his sword to protect his sailors.

I have to wonder, what is the success ratio of people with no pulse being ressituted at the hospital? 1% ? 20% ? Would there be brain damage? For myself, if brain damage, I would not want to be brought back.

The New York Post obtained a memo that was sent out to the city's EMTs on Tuesday, saying that if they can't get a pulse from a cardiac-arrest patient at the scene, they shouldn't transport them to the hospital as is normally advised.
  • The New York Post obtained a memo sent out to New York City ambulance workers, advising them not bring cardiac-arrest patients to the hospital if they can't get a pulse at the scene.

  • Such patients were previously brought to the hospital, where doctors would try to revive them, but these cases are being deprioritized during the coronavirus outbreak.

  • The city's ambulance service has been overwhelmed by the pandemic. Last week, Reuters reported that about 20% of the city's EMTs weren't working because they were either sick with coronavirus or had been exposed.
NYC paramedics are stretched so thin by the coronavirus they're being told to leave cardiac-arrest sufferers at home if they can't get a pulse at the scene

Not sure if any of you have heard about the Teddy Bear in a window game going around..Like "I Spy" game.
Tonight after work, ( I am working from home) just to get out of the house, for the first time in weeks, we got on the golf cart (which has a plastic cover over it, our "bubble" lol) and cruised around the lake by ourselves and did NOT stop to talk to anyone, stayed on the road so we stayed safe, BUT.. we did see lots of teddy Bears in windows as we were looking for them LOL
That was fun to see how many homes are partaking in the game.
Made me smile tonight, the first time in a few weeks :)

Health expert says "not every American is following" social distancing guidelines

Dr. Deborah Birx said she can tell by looking at the US curve of coronavirus cases that not every American is following the guidelines set out by the administration for people to stay home and be vigilant about washing their hands.

“Just to everybody out there across the country — when we say no gatherings of 10, we want to be clear — if you have a family of 10, we don’t want you to be split up,” Birx said, while noting that the guidelines mean people should be having “no dinner parties, no cocktail parties.”

@NuttMegg that article about the "care" center in Kirkland is the worst thing I have ever read. The center kept admitting patients, even though they KNEW that there was a respiratory infection going through the center.

The lack of ethics is beyond belief. I wonder if the center is CARF accredited? They should lose their accreditation. And even their licenses.
I know, incredible. See the last sentence, four people who were admitted after the center knew there was a problem died of covid. 4 families put their loved ones in the center and they just died! I logged into the seattle times to see what is going on up there, they have comprehensive, thorough coverage of covid from all over. That's where i found the article. The Seattle Times | Local news, sports, business, politics, entertainment, travel, restaurants and opinion for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Just curious, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Two neighbors across the street have decided that they are going to "quarantine together"...not together in one house, but allow their two families to get together and to let their kids run about the neighborhood together. There are ten people between both houses. However, we have seen people coming and going into each of the houses separately.

I feel so extremely irritated, but not sure what to do. Do I say nothing and let them live their own lives or do I, as a friendly and elder neighbor, politely share my concerns?

Last night they went so far as to have a fire pit, a cookout, a party together and all the kids were screaming and dancing on the roof of their shed. I think it is selfish and is hurtful (in man you ways) to all the other neighbor kids that can't go see their friends or family members.

To top it all off, one family is a pastor's family.
I would say it depends on your relationship with your neighbors, how you think they will respond, and how much you care about getting along with them in the future.

If one family has a member who is a paster I would imagine they would be decent people (some of my neighbors are pretty scary) so I can't imagine they would be rude or anything. Although you never know.

You could always give them a big hint by going out in a cap, gloves, and a mask, walk by and casually ask them how they are doing. Then step back and say, "Oops, don't want to share any germs!" Then say something like "stay safe!" as you walk back towards your house.

Maybe they will get the hint.

The ships are in. Although the cruise line said 10 needed hospitalization, there were 14. It will take until Saturday to disembark all. The 4 dead passengers are on the boat’s morgue waiting for info on where to ship.

‘We are excited to be home’: Cruise ships dock at Port Everglades despite coronavirus concerns

From governor...
“Just so people understand, there’s probably 25 of these ships out there. Two of them, these two, have U.S. citizens on board,” he said. “We have an interest in making sure those folks come safely. Some of these other ships are all foreign nationals, that’s something that would be difficult to accommodate in Florida given what we’re facing in South Florida.”

Makes me wonder about OD and Narcan...
Definitely not the resources available for that when ER is stretched beyond it's limit.
I'm guessing that's why an age was stated?
Geez, so scary!

Trump says he's "looking to see" if he can stop states from releasing prisoners

President Trump said Thursday that he disapproves of states freeing "serious criminals" to reduce congestion in prisons during the coronavirus pandemic and that he's "looking to see" if he has the right to stop them.

"Some people are getting out that are very serious criminals, in some states, and I don't like that. I don't like it." Mr. Trump said at the daily Coronavirus Task Force briefing. "But it's a city or state thing in certain cases, as you know."

Jeff Bezos donates $100 million to U.S. food banks

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is donating $100 million to food banks across the U.S. so they can feed needy Americans as the novel coronavirus cripples the economy.

"Even in ordinary times, food insecurity in American households is an important problem, and unfortunately COVID-19 is amplifying that stress significantly," Bezos said on Instagram Thursday. "Millions of Americans are turning to food banks during this time."
