Strange as it seems, too many people believed that the virus was hoax/hype, that it would blow over in a couple of weeks, and so they could carry on with business as usual. Those are the people who are stuck on a sick cruise ship, stranded in the wrong country, and partying hard.

My son was going to travel with some friends from Melbourne to Vietnam in early March, but changed his mind at the last minute. Those people are stuck in Vietnam. Many other travellers decided to ride it out in Melbourne, not realizing that flights would be cancelled and options would be eliminated.

People who boarded cruise ships after the virus spread around the world believed that this would blow over in no time, that ships were clean, and that the virus only attacks sick old people.

@otto How is your son? Wasn't he trying to return home?

Hoping he is safe and all is well.

Forgot to add. Still no makeup but I did put on my favorite lipstick and favorite perfume.

Today was first day that I managed makeup. I have been wearing perfume (to test my sense of smell each morning,). I almost feel like I could be sort of productive...tomorrow.

And everyone I know who is in their homes feels the same way. Working my way up to regular walks outside the house.

Regarding cruise ships left to drift with no place to dock. I realize no state or area should have to shoulder the responsibility for docking all the cruise ships, but as a humane society, we can't allow them to drift endlessly until everyone on board dies. If this is what our society has become, then we should be ashamed. The cruise lines have canceled all the cruises, so at least let the ships remaining at sea to dock.

MOO
Oh I so agree with this post. I never had any desire myself to take a cruise but these are human beings and shouldn’t be left to fend for themselves.

Two weeks ago I had a social worker, intern and a nurse in a HOSPITAL either roll their eyes or laugh when I mentioned Coronavirus. Really pissed me off.

AWESOME!! GREAT NEWS!

Small Victories....:p

I was determined to find some toilet paper somehow. I had two instacart orders, and neither delivered any paper supplies. And my daughter had been on two grocery runs for us, and no luck.

Then when I saw the posts about the possible strikes by Amazon employees and instacart employees, and Whole Foods, I began to be concerned....

I had heard rumours that our Home Depot has TP when it opens, at 6 am. But it is gone quickly.

So my wonderful daughter and her boyfriend said they didnt want me or hubby to go, they would do it....I told them I had masks for them, so they would be safer too.

We agreed to meet in the 7/11 parking lot at 5:45, and hand off the masks. When I arrived, I looked at the front window of 7/11, AND THERE WAS AN ENTIRE WALL OF TOILET PAPER AND NAPKINS AND PAPER TOWELS, right in front of me....

This is terrible. Our government computer systems are ancient! They should have been updating them while our unemployment was low and they were slow.

Connecticut governor says people will have to wait FIVE WEEKS for their unemployment checks and laid off workers in New York say they still can't get through to apply

This is terrible. People really need help ASAP during this incredibly distressing and extremely stressful time.

LMAO...seemed like it for my daughter because they overslept, of course...lol....and I texted her at 6 am and said ' We got TP----go back to sleep'....they were thrilled and had nice dreams...
I wish I could find some. Stores are limiting the amount of items you can buy but I still have not seen any toilet paper for two weeks.
I keep expecting someone to start selling TP rolls out of their garage soon.

BREAKING Six-week-old baby dies of coronavirus becoming America's 'youngest victim'

A six-week-old baby has died from coronavirus, becoming what is believed to be America's youngest victim.

The child died in Connecticut last week, with test results from last night showing that the youngster had Covid-19.

Governor of Connecticut Ned Lamont tweeted: "It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we can confirm the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to #COVID19. A 6-week-old newborn from the Hartford area was brought unresponsive to a hospital late last week and could not be revived.

This news is desperately sad and tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to the little one's loved ones.

Home Depot announced Wednesday that its stores would temporarily be closing at 6 p.m., and the number of customers inside at the same time would be limited to promote social distancing.

Additional cleaning is being done at Home Depot stores and thermometers are being distributed to employees, who are being asked to perform health checks before reporting to work.

Woohooo!! Glad you got toilet paper lol.

Seriously, I have learned all this requires quite a bit of ingenuity, strategy, patience, and frankly mental survival skills. It has taken a LOT of work to get some of my necessities. And not even in bulk, just period.

One thing I’ve found really cool so far is I’ll call the stores ahead and so far everyone has been really helpful at explaining the status of their locations.

People have offered to get things for me while there out which is really nice.

A lot of heroes and good people are stepping up.

• I’m kind of rambly today, need more coffee. I think it’s just the point of emotional and academic exhaustion where you finally reach a point and you’re just like “Duuuuhhh”.

I was shrugged off as a hysteric for suggesting to my family to start preparing mid February.
I so WISH I was wrong.
