I’m so excited the sun will shine today. We e had dreary weather, only compounding an already “dark” existence......

Shine on
Me, shine on me
Let it shine on
Shine on
All I have to say is let it shine on

(I’ve had Humble Pie tunes stuck in my head, mainly 30 Days in The Hole)

Strange as it seems, too many people believed that the virus was hoax/hype, that it would blow over in a couple of weeks, and so they could carry on with business as usual. Those are the people who are stuck on a sick cruise ship, stranded in the wrong country, and partying hard.

My son was going to travel with some friends from Melbourne to Vietnam in early March, but changed his mind at the last minute. Those people are stuck in Vietnam. Many other travellers decided to ride it out in Melbourne, not realizing that flights would be cancelled and options would be eliminated.

People who boarded cruise ships after the virus spread around the world believed that this would blow over in no time, that ships were clean, and that the virus only attacks sick old people.

some cruise lines were refusing to let people cancel and would not issue credit or refunds... so, $8,000; $10,000 x 2..... a lot to lose for some who might have planned
a honeymoon or anniversary...

Here’s an article from Colorado on Hobby Lobby I posted the other day:

BBM:

““Employees from locations nationwide have been outspokenon Twitter, claiming the company exploits loopholes in orders similar to Colorado’s to stay open. People have shared photos of signs posted at Hobby Lobby stores that say they’re essential businesses because they sell materials for making personal protective equipment and homeschooling supplies.”

Hobby Lobby remains open in defiance of Colorado's stay-at-home order

However, I see they too have received an order to close today:

Colorado directs Hobby Lobby executive to close stores – The Denver Post

“Hobby Lobby stores in Denver shut down this week after being cited by city inspectors for violating a statewide stay-at-home order and the Colorado attorney general’s office has directed the chain to shut down statewide.”

[...]

““You are directed to immediately close all Hobby Lobby locations within the State of Colorado,” the directive, signed by W. Eric Kuhn, senior assistant attorney general, said. “Immediate compliance is compulsory, and any future or continuing non-compliance will be subject to the full force and effect of injunctive relief.””

VACCINE HUMAN TRIALS MAY START SOON IN PORTLAND, OREGON!!

PORTLAND, Ore. — Scientists in Portland think they may have figured out a vaccine against COVID-19.

Researchers at the Chiles Research Institute at Providence’s Robert Franz Cancer Center have asked the federal government for permission to start trials with human volunteers.

They’re experts in cancer research and immunotherapy.

Providence develops potential COVID-19 vaccine; wants feds to start human clinical trials

there are so many vaccine projects right now- I am wondering, if they find an effective vaccine, how much will it cost? will it be readily available? will most people take it?

Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
This too is meaningless.

I started wearing gloves early on, but at first I was wearing regular gloves to not stand out. Of course you can't sanitize regular gloves like you would do with rubber gloves. But I purchased the work gloves that had rubber insides and still kind of looked like regular gloves, LOL.
Even if you wear gloves, you need to change them, or sanitize them a lot. It's easier with disposable rubber gloves.

FWIW, I wear regular rubber gloves- remove and put in a tray in the car- hand sanitize, and when I go home, wash my hands and the rubber gloves and the tray. You do have to be careful not to contaminate the inside of the gloves, but you make less trash. There was an article pleading with people not to leave disposable gloves and masks all over. I have seen some that do not make it to the trash can and then I imagine no one wants to pick them up.

I used to enjoy shopping for groceries. I've been shopping at the same store for years and always ran into neighbors and friends. I know I spent more time visiting with people than actually shopping for groceries. And now? I dread getting on my mask and gloves and going to the store but I need fresh fruit and vegetables and you can't stock pile that stuff. I just want to get in and out of there as fast as possible. I doubt anyone recognizes people they've known for years as everyone is wearing masks. Life has become the twilight zone.

There is absolutely nothing enjoyable about shopping now.
Even bringing items from car to house is daunting as well as timely.

Interesting questions. At first thought, Of course. Second thought, hmmm, what is in it? Any side effects? The side effects of the Anthrax vaccine have been so severe, the military has quietly stopped giving it to soldiers.

And ironically, this virus has crippled a military carrier.

Would I take a vaccine for the virus? Yes. I just hope that the "cure" is better than the disease.

I’m leery of new vaccines. However, the alternative is rather grim.

A few weeks ago I told my GP that we had my parents in isolation. She asked why! I just shook my head and left. Now, they are pushing video appointments!

tried to warn my dentist about this- he thought it was a joke or a political thing too.
problem with people posturing is that when there is a real crisis, no one believes it
until there are body bags at the curb. still cannot believe that institutions and retailers were not stock piling equipment and supplies. bought one bottle of hand sanitizer (do not like it because it is so drying) in early February and then it vanished from store shelves and on line.

I will eventually need to go to a grocery store, but right now I still operate on 'Do I want bananas so badly that I would risk being on a ventilator?' and the answer is No.
SBBM

This is a phrase I’m going to keep in mind.

I never get the flu vaccine, but as an older person with asthma I would
Definitely get a vaccine for this merciless killing virus

My neighbor is “busy”, always helping elderly shop & doing other errands for them. He’s now carrying his own spray Clorox/water mixture with him, even into stores, along with his paper towels.

I don't know if this will help you all, but I felt better after watching this. It's long, but try to watch it.

Shingles shots - bedridden a week twice. Awful same reaction with both shots. But, if a vaccine will save me, I would take it.

This is going to sound really dumb but stay with me. The big rubber gloves for washing dishes - is that what you mean? And then you just keep them on and wash your gloved hands? I never thought to do this - this sounds perfect.

Dr. Tony Fauci confirms 'disturbing' threats against him as he reassures interviewer his hoarse voice is from giving too many briefings

Top government infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci confirmed the existence of 'disturbing' threats after it was revealed the official steering the nation's coronavirus response now has a security detail.

He told Guthrie he feels secure. 'I do, Savannah,' Fauci said. 'I've chosen this life. I mean, I know what it is. There are things about it that sometimes are disturbing. But you just focus on the job you have to do and just put all that other stuff aside and try as best as possible not to pay too much attention to it and just forge ahead,' Fauci said.

I hope Dr. Fauci stays safe he is not to blame for what has happened. I really feel he and Dr. Birx are honest and good people who care about people’s lives and not politics.
