I placed an order on DH Gate for medical masks over a month ago. They were shipped but have been sitting in Shanghai for weeks now. At the time, a pack of 10 masks were $8 shipped.
I’ve heard shipping is VERY SLOW right now. Hang in there, they will come. Did they do free ship? Those take the longest.

DHgate sells surgical and N95 masks. Use the filter to find sellers with a good reputation and those that small small amounts, 20 pc or 50 pc. If you need help finding some you can also contact me through PM.

is that Australia or UK?

China has fewer reported cases than other countries.

The countries have the resources for comprehensive tracking and are democracies where uhmm…. "creative statistics" are harder to maintain.

In short, I strongly suspect that China realized that the virus could not be contained and that they also lost the ability to comprehensively track the virus through out urban and rural areas of the vast country.

They then decided that they would not order comprehensive and near total economic shut downs (very few Chinese have a work from home option). The virus was left to burn itself out naturally and a certain death rate would be accepted.

I can guarantee that Canada has a higher number than reported simply because there is a shortage of tests. People who have mild symptoms are told to self-isolate for 2 weeks. They are not tested. That is happening all over the world, including China.

Have a look at where the US stands in terms of testing as compared to other countries. It's at the bottom of the list.

Yes, at this time the only way to control the virus is to self-isolate and let it "burn itself out."

Can somebody explain to me the reasoning behind letting prisoners out?

Most likely the state/county/feds will be sued if one of them perps dies of corona virus and they will posssibly win. Meanwhile, we the innocent people/victims, are in danger 24/7.

That’s even more reason to ‘Buy American, Hire American’.

It's even more important for Canada to invent, innovate, and manufacture in Canada.

Yes, free shipping. I've ordered from DH Gate before pandemic (for other non-pandemic items) and know it's slow, taking 30 days or more.

Just checked my order again, the masks have been sitting in "Shanghai Dispatch Sorting Center" since March 20.

Indeed, most country's numbers are inaccurate. China managed to contain the outbreak primarily to Wuhan using strict measures that included dumping dirt on all roads in and out of the city. People were locked in their apartments to prevent them from spreading the virus. Wrist bands were issued weekly to allow one person from a family to shop once a week. The virus was handled very differently in China than in other parts of the world. China built new hospitals in 11 days. We don't see that anywhere else.

It doesn't really add up that China's numbers are significantly inaccurate given that the handling of the epidemic was drastically different than every other country.

The Chinese people themselves are saying that a family member dies of Covid but only pneumonia is put on the death certificate. This is one reason why it doesn't add up. Also our own intelligence agencies say they are not giving out true numbers and they stopped
a lot of their testing so they put down other causes of death not caring if it's Covid.

This is why it doesn't add up. I put out 4 links to articles.

Wait, it does add up for China, it's called disinformation modus operandi
of the China Communist Party.

Viral Dose, Viral Load

How ‘viral dose’ could cause doctors to get sick

ABC News’ chief medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton explains more about this “viral dose,” and the latest on deaths related to coronavirus.

Viral dose, is this the reason healthcare workers are contracting the virus?

That is the leading theory, there is something called a viral load, a viral inoculum that is how much virus actually gets into someone's body and that can be a factor with how sick they get.

It is the contact, its the exposure, doctors, nurses are intubating patients, putting in lines, IV's, they are really up close for a prolong period of time.
We know distance, length of time, viral load, all of those things can play a factor in how sick someone can gets

In most coronavirus deaths we know there are elderly people with underlining conditions but we are also seeing some younger healthy people die as well.

Could it be that these victims have been exposed to high doses of the virus?

That is one thing we are looking at, the other thing is this really vigorous immune reaction, this so-called cytokine storm, which typically younger people with a more robust immune system can experience, but again we are going to be looking at this because more older healthcare workers are being asked to volunteer so it is going to be a split kind of like population.

How ‘viral dose’ could cause doctors to get sick

“Viral load” is one of the more ominous-sounding medical terms emerging during the coronavirus outbreak.

Who is exposed to high 'viral load' of COVID-19 and why does it matter?

Cuomo said just a little while ago in his briefing that the N95 masks cost about $.70ea at the beginning of this, now cost about $7.ea...if you can get them.

Very true.

Canada can also conduct increasingly sophisticated statistical studies based on random testing. My guess is that should Canada implement those studies, it will be more difficult to insert creativity into the statistics in Canada than in China.

Day 5,476 of social distancing. I ask my husband a question. I then pretend to be him and answer me. He sits and stares at me.

Good thing he's very laid back in nature.

This, too, shall pass.

I’ve had things sit there for what seems like forever with no movement, then show up at my door in 2 days. o_O

UK hospital deaths rise by 684 to 3,605

A total of 3,605 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Thursday, the Department of Health said, up by 684 from 2,921 the day before.

The Department of Health said that, as of 9am on Friday, a total of 173,784 people have been tested of which 38,168 tested positive.

For context, the previous day’s rise was a further 569 deaths, which took the total to 2,921, and another 33, 718 tests were positive for Covid-19, a rise of 4,244.

UK coronavirus live: hospital death toll reaches 3,605, a record daily rise of 684

You know, I can sadly see us reaching 10,000 deaths in the next few days. I can’t help but wonder how many losses might have been prevented had we had a strong plan (or indeed, any plan at all) in place at the beginning of March.
My heart hurts so much for those left behind.

My great state of VA is going to host the president's golf outing with emergency rental of 30 golf carts.
God bless us all

I read this last night in - I think - The Guardian. For a moment, I thought I was reading The Onion. $45,000 well spent (insert sarcasm and rolled eyes here) there. Good grief.

I started a gardening thread :)

Quarantine Vegetable Gardens

Yay! Thank you - a place for me to warble on endlessly about my tomato seeds :D Thank you for starting this, @Gardenista
