Call me Optimistic. I believe that our USA President, has a humongous smack down in the works for China.
I don't know what it is, but, I am guessing huge.
When, he is ready to do so.
I, for one will back up whatever sledge hammer he lays on China. 100%.
No country should be allowed, like, China, to continuously produce viruses that kill people over and over again.
Without Severe penalties!
This has to end.
No terrorists have been able to cripple our nation like China has, and continues to do so.
For me. I hope that President Donald J. Trump has a way to completely isolate China.
problem is... They produce our needed medicines.
For me, as a teeny, tiny speck in this universe.
I will look for "made in China".
I will Never buy, made in China again. Period.
What if it says "Made in PRC" ?
Your post didn’t seem like you were minimizing social distancing @JaneEyre. :) Your 6 feet is what is suggested, even without masks at this point. I love your idea of sitting 30 feet apart with your beers talking over your phones! At least you can see each other and your gestures. Let’s face it, this is hard, but we will figure out workarounds. Zoom (as long as you keep security high) is turning out to be a “godsend” for many congregations and individuals. I never heard of it two weeks ago. Keeping in mind why we’re keeping a social distance helps me. Two new phrases: Social Distancing and Flattening the curve. What next!
The old way of measuring fabrics was from your nose to your outstretched hand is approx 1 yard. So if you are exchanging at arms length sideways to each other that is approximately two yards. However, in Europe we are saying 2 metres, which is 6 feet 6 inches and probably just a bit too far too pass anything by hand unless you lean sideways too. But then your heads would be closer together than two metres/yards probably. We need a social distancing stick (a broom?) to hand things in thru windows. Innovations needed.

USA has 10 times the population of Canada. Canada has 208 deaths, USA has 7400 deaths. Should USA deaths be 10 times that of Canada, so 2080? No reason to panic, but a good reason to increase self-isolation.
The high cases and deaths are in the highest populated areas of the various countries, where it spreads easier and quicker. Rural areas are less likely to have the same death rates IMO. Judging by the UK stats anyway.
The high cases and deaths showing up in elderly care homes are concerning. Recent Scottish and Irish reports.

I hate to be that person, but this doesn’t sound safe. I regret having talked to my best friend yesterday at 6 feet apart for less than ten minutes. Had we both been masked, maybe.

Sorry, hanging out while 6 feet apart isn’t coronavirus social distancing, expert says

Thanks for the article. I'm planning to wear a mask when I meet my friend. We have three old (expired) N95 masks that my husband got for woodworking. My friend doesn't have a mask but can use a scarf. I'm also going to try making a mask from a bandana.

Long Island doctor treating elderly patients with different antibiotic (Doxycycline instead of Azithromycin, which is toxic to the heart) in combination with hydroxychoroquine. Bless his heart for trying to find a way to save people and he has seemed to save some.
That's really encouraging news. He got the relatives permission first I notice and presumably the patients' too unless they had dementia perhaps.

I saw some made from a bandana using two pony tail holders or scrunchies. Wish I had a link. They were fast & ultra easy.

On another note, how ridiculous is this? The woman only need say she’s taking care of family in Ohio. Cars are not ding stopped at checkpoints, there’s hundreds of road into Ohio from KY.

The supplies were essentially stolen, as in piracy and wild-west. Medical supplies were ordered through normal channels. The USA intercepted the supplies in transit and took them.

Germany and Canada were ordering supplies, not bidding. It is the USA that has turned the supply of medical equipment into a bidding war, a tarmac money game. It is the USA that has compromised poor countries by ensuring that those with more money can corrupt any system.
I don't think they were stolen. Commandeered, maybe. What do 3M and China say?

Re the masks - there is a mask making thread and it is in that. Click on the forum link at top of page to find it. Then click on the "Things to do while quarantined" forum and it is hopefully in there.

Re your other note - Here we go. This will happen a lot until it is a country wide mandated lockdown. MOO.

Survival of the fittest is exactly how this will play out. People with secondary medical conditions who are infected will die - doesn't matter how old they are. Healthy people of all ages will die.

If the health system is overwhelmed, people over 60 will be told to go home without testing. They will skew the mortality rate to suggest that only old people die of the virus.

That doesn't mean that countries should start an international bidding war for medical supplies.

Funny thing about the toilet paper, even though people were hoarding, there's still no shortage of toilet paper. Everyone can still afford to buy toilet paper.
There was a shortage of TP in the UK. It is just now improving as most people have some stocks now.

Thank you for the link.
Spells it out. Wonder why it has to be said.

"Such wild west methods can’t dominate, even in a time of global crisis.”

So they were going to France not Canada? From that link.

"Berlin’s state interior ministry blamed the U.S. for confiscating 200,000 masks ordered from a U.S. producer when they were in transit through Bangkok. French officials have accused unidentified Americans of paying over the odds to secure masks in China that had already been earmarked for France.

The U.S. embassy in Paris said any suggestion that the federal government was involved in such practices was “completely false.” There was no immediate response the allegations from the White House or the State Department."

And it was Bangkok not Bangladesh? :-)

I guess we will eventually know the full story at some time anyway.

Anti-parasite drug ivermectin shown to be effective against coronavirus

Australian scientists have published research indicating that ivermectin, an approved anti-parasitic drug that is available worldwide, is highly effective against the Covid-19 virus when applied to an infected cell culture.

The collaborative study led by Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI) with the Peter Doherty Institute of Infection and Immunity showed that ivermectin reduced Covid-19 viral RNA present in the cell culture by 93% after 24 hours and by 99.8% after 48 hours - around a 5,000-fold reduction in coronavirus RNA, indicating that the ivermectin treatment was leading to the loss of "essentially all viral material".

Dr Kylie Wagstaff from the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, said ""We found that even a single dose could essentially remove all viral RNA by 48 hours and that even at 24 hours there was a really significant reduction in it."

Re your other note - Here we go. This will happen a lot until it is a country wide mandated lockdown.
actually we are not under a mandate, more of a request. Previously I linked PC info, a reporter generally mentions ‘this stuff can’t be enforced’ or similar & then it turns to a ‘we are encouraging’. Anyone wanting to travel can, if stopped for a traffic violation and questioned they only need to give a reason. Obviously police see boats and other recreational toys all over the roads, and some parks, marinas & campgrounds remain open per previous links. If things are open, people will travel. Moo

Quoting from the article @JaneEyre posted:

Any extended, unnecessary contact with people, even six feet apart, violates the spirit of the precautions.

“If you’re going to practice intense social distancing, it really means avoiding or limiting contact with people outside of your family, and really staying home most of the time, unless you really need to go out,” Ciminelli said. “But any prolonged kind of engagement outside is really still not social distancing, having that prolonged contact with people that are not in your family."

Ciminelli said the six-feet rule is for when people need to leave their homes for essential reasons, such as running to the store for groceries, or going on a run or walk for the good of physical and mental health.
Sorry, hanging out while 6 feet apart isn’t coronavirus social distancing, expert says

I’m not sure that a mask or scarf really changes the intent of the social distancing rules. It may be somewhat safer, but maybe rethink walking with your friend? Wearing a mask is for extra protection when doing essential things outside our homes, but does it really change the social distancing rules to make it OK to be with a friend when you walk? What if everyone does it? Rhetorical questions to consider. :)

Tresir, it is indeed true and so horrible I can’t post what all is done to make these animals life a living painful hell. There are probably a million links. They place tin cans around their mouths, tie their legs behind them and leave them to hang for days while beating them to death. That is a nicer way. Just google Wuhan Dog meat festival or China dog and cat meat torture. Be prepared for pictures and articles that will keep you up at night, bawling your eyes out. I just can’t do it right now, I am afraid of seeing any new pictures.
I certainly don't want to see pictures but articles written in respected MSM about it would be fine. If there are none without pics then never mind.

It is great for horses, imo. I’m a fan.
My dog/s can’t tolerate it & before linked info was known, a friend lost several Aussie’s after his vet used Ivermectin.
