This was also reported on the news. So far, all LE received a bulletin from California Gov. Newsom, but a formal announcement will be made tomorrow. Some beach locations were fine, but some did not show any consideration and ruined it for all. I know there are people either thinking they are special and won't get it, or they don't believe how easy this Coronavirus Covid-19 spreads. Anybody watching the news should know this virus spreads and kills some people. Is sitting on the beach close together that important?

Memo Says California Governor Will Order All Beaches Closed

"Gov. Gavin Newsom will order all beaches and state parks closed Friday after tens of thousands of people flocked to the seashore last weekend during a heat wave despite his stay-at-home order, according to a memo sent Wednesday evening to police chiefs around the state."

He probably would more readily eat horse meat than soy protein on principle if he knew. But he doesn’t and he loves it.

That is sooo funny. I can just see him sitting at that kitchen table ! Defiant.

Swiss researchers see sewage as early warning sign for COVID flares

(Reuters) - Researchers in Switzerland have been able to detect the new coronavirus at even low concentrations in wastewater, offering a potential early warning system for flareups in infections as countries emerge from emergency lockdowns.

(...)

"Wastewater doesn't lie, and it reflects what is excreted by the public within a few hours," team leader Christoph Ort from the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology said in a statement.

I hope there won’t be anything “interesting to watch” regarding the beach closures. They had their chance to act responsibly and chose to flaut public health requirements, so they have only themselves to blame. This is a temporary closure due to coronavirus. They could act in the public interest and wait until the danger eases instead of putting themselves and LE at risk. JMO

From the link it’s clear that the protestors were issued a permit but did not comply with the public health guidelines. So they have brought this ban on themselves. There was room for compromise and they chose not to. JMO

“The California Highway Patrol said Wednesday that it is temporarily banning rallies at the state Capitol and other state facilities because of the pandemic.

The change in policy came after hundreds of protesters gathered on the Capitol grounds in Sacramento on Monday, many without wearing masks or following recommendations to remain more than six feet apart to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The event permit “was issued with the understanding that the protest would be conducted in a manner consistent with the state’s public health guidance. That is not what occurred, and CHP will take this experience into account when considering permits for this or any other group,” it said.”

Most people know the difference between wheat and beef based products. Regardless of age, everyone knows the juicy fat on a slab of beef that cannot be replicated with wheat.

Signal that the substitute is okay, but to suggest that people don't know the difference - nope.
makes me want to go light up my home made fire pit with my pecan wood pieces and flame up my one big fat steak. yum. (my daughter is vegan and always honor her choices and meals when she visits) But.....

What were the results for sick people making ice cream, like Typhoid Fever Mary?

i am not that familiar with typhoid Mary, but from my limited knowledge, is that she
was an asymptomatic carrier of a BACTERIA, a germ, not a virus, that she spread thru
her job as a cook-- this germ was a type of salmonella, which is present in food
like ice cream--so one can deduce therefore that anyone sick with this bacteria
that handled food, including ice cream, would cause spread of the typhoid germ

From the link:

The nation’s biggest teachers unions said Tuesday they would consider strikes or major protests if schools reopen without the proper safety measures in place or against the advice of medical experts.

“It’s insane. It’s not safe to go back in July,” said Jon Bath, political action chair for the Fresno Teachers Association. “Can you imagine being with 40 kids in a room that’s 20 [feet] by 20 [feet]? As a teacher, you’re going to get it.”

As a retired teacher’s wife, I completely understand the teacher’s concerns. Kids are little germ factories and social distancing in a classroom is not in their skill-set. Teachers are always excited at the start of the school year and happy to return under normal circumstances. But the pandemic is an extraordinary circumstance and preserving everyone’s health and safety has to come before eagerness to return to school. There isn’t enough known yet about children carrying and spreading Covid-19. This isn’t the time to make guesses and force teachers to be guinea pigs.

Typhoid Mary.
Mary Mallon (1869-1938) and the history of typhoid fever

She was something else! Refused to stop spreading the disease, changed her identity and continued to move around until she was forcibly quarantined.

C’mon @cody22. You know this isn’t “entertainment” as long as they are risking their health and that of others. If they want to drive around with signs on their cars, honking and using bullhorns...from inside their cars...no one would have stopped them. They could even climb on the car roof and give a speech. Just keep away from each other. Easy peasy.

Yep, they should do just that... Let's see what the protestors do( if anything) and what Newsom and the CHP do this weekend......It is entertaining to me watching the debate and antics of both sides........I am an "equal opportunity neutral bystander" protest watcher.........moo

Grandparents in Switzerland are now allowed to hug their grandchildren under the age of 10, said the physician behind the country’s coronavirus response.

While there have been rare reports of cases in London and other parts of Europe, "only half of these children tested positive for coronavirus," Adam Finn, professor of pediatrics at the University of Bristol and chairman of the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts advising WHO Europe, said during the briefing.

"This may be a late complication of the infection," Finn said, "But all of this is speculation at this point. The size and exact nature of this problem is only just beginning to emerge."
