Probably. Was she there and if so why did she allow?
She was at work when her son had the party. When she found out she was not happy about it. Ans she actually found out when police showed up hours after the party.

UN warns coronavirus fallout will lead to the next pandemic – global starvation

The next global pandemic may very well be a hunger pandemic as a result of the fallout from coronavirus.

While the World Health Organization warns that stringent guidelines need to stay in place to combat the spread of COVID-19, fellow United Nations agency World Food Program (WFP) believes that it will lead to an uptick in global poverty and starvation, and the response to the virus itself may end up killing more people by the end of 2020.

Last week, WFP's executive director David Beasley cautioned the UN Security Council that the risk of large-scale famine in much of the developing world was now "of biblical proportions" as a result of the global pandemic.

"While dealing with a COVID-19 pandemic, we are also on the brink of a hunger pandemic," Beasley told the council. "There is also a real danger that more people could potentially die from the economic impact of COVID-19 than from the virus itself."

Much more at link. None of it good :(

This is very true about the hunger, something I've been worried about since I first became interested in this virus. With meat packing plants closing down and farm workers not able to do the work, where does the food come from?

If there isn't enough food, what comes next? Civil unrest?

She's the homeowner and responsible for what takes place on her property but, I agree, the son admitted he invited "20-30 people" and that clearly is a violation of the order prohibiting gatherings of no more than 10.

JMO
Well, using that logic, if robbery or burglary takes place on your property, you are responsible for it? What if somebody kills someone on your property, are they going to charge you with murder even if you had nothing to do with it?
Woman says she didn't know about the party and was at work during the party.
Her adult son is the one who threw this party.

Reynolds defends lifting COVID-19 restrictions I listened to the pc this morning. IMO-Governor Reynolds and the IDPH were very irritated this morning. IMO-they don't like to give straight answers to the questions either.

Interesting. Dubuque is a big John Deere town too, if I recall correctly. Wonder how it is doing. Riverboat gambling there too, on the Mississippi?

Now we're in agreement! :)

I don't know who you know who accused kids of being super spreaders (I haven't heard that but I'm sure it's been said by someone).

Clearly, they are not super-spreaders. I truly do wonder, though, when we'll know more about their antibody formation (the kids).

Take it from a grandmother of 14, kids are super spreaders of everything else, why not the Corona? During flu season I stay away from the kiddies if they even sneeze.

FDA to authorize emergency use of new coronavirus treatment: NYT

The F.D.A. plans to announce the emergency use of a virus
treatment after a trial showed shortened recovery time.

The F.D.A. plans to announce as early as Wednesday an emergency use authorization for remdesivir, an experimental antiviral drug that is being tested in treating patients with Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, according to a senior administration official.

Before the announcement President Trump and Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the federal government’s leading infectious diseases scientist, on Wednesday hailed early trial results of the drug, holding out hope that it could help stem the rising death toll.

Meeting with reporters at the White House, Dr. Fauci cautioned that the results of the study overseen by his agency, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, still need to be properly peer reviewed but expressed optimism that it could make a difference in speeding up the recovery of some patients infected with the virus.

I do not cry easily. But, watching Gov Cuomo's address this morning made me weep .
I wept listening to an interview with a NYC city bus driver awhile ago (a week, two weeks, I don't recall).

He drove bus during 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, and now in the pandemic.

He said he views his job as a mission - his duty is to serve the people of the city. He said he knows he's bringing essential workers to their jobs and even people to the hospital sometimes.

I was bawling by the end, in gratitude and humility.

Heartfelt briefing Governor Cuomo today. Cuomo, Just the Facts

He mentioned how nice it was for the "Thank you salute," dedicated to the health care workers. "That was nice, saying thank you is nice, but how about rewarding them and making their lives easier, hazard pay, child care," and more examples.

more
"Thank you to the Front Line Workers who risk their lives every day. The fire department, the delivery drivers who go to 50 doors a day, nurses and doctors in the emergency room, the police officers, who go into homes because of a domestic disturbance, the EMT. They are All doing the work.

Front line workers are heroes, they risk their lives every day, showing up not because they get paid a lot of money, not because people say thank you and god bless you...
They are doing it because it is their value, their honor, their pride, their dignity. They show up. Even when it is hard, they show up. We need to make sure they are protected, they have the equipment, PPE, they have our respect, our gratitude and make sure they are tested and they get the results so they can take care of themselves."

There was much talk on politics that is not to be discussed here

“This is a self-portrait of America,” says Cuomo pointing to a wall of masks sent from around the US. “And you what know it spells? It spells ‘Love.’ “A little bit more of this and a little bit less of the partisanship and the ugliness and this country would be a better place.”

There are caution signs that we need to pay attention to. Singapore was under control and they are now seeing a second wave, with 900 new cases

"Singapore reported 1,426 new infections on Monday, a record jump in Covid-19 cases as it battles a new wave of infections in dormitories housing migrant workers."
Coronavirus latest: US warned about reopening, Singapore cases hit record

Germany relaxed and started to reopen, they are seeing an increase.
Germans have been advised to stay at home as much as possible and continue to apply physical distancing as official data appeared to indicate the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic was once again accelerating.

I forgot to add, wanted to include, in my post. But this was all said around the politics with what is going on.

Governor Cuomo, talking about the American people, the American instinct to help others in crisis. He mentioned the farmer who mailed him a mask to help a New Yorker. The farmer's wife had one lung and an underlying illness. and he sent one of his five masks to New York.
"Think about that generousity and charity, that spirit, that is America."

"America is when we need help in the emergency rooms and hospitals and 95,000 nurses and doctors from across the nation said, "We will come to NY to help, we'll come into the emergency rooms, we'll come into the hospitals. I understand it is Covid, I will leave my family to come and help yours."

Some open in Atlanta tomorrow.

I fee like I did back in February......watching a train wreck in slow motion.
Wonder where they're getting the $ to spend. Better save for the second wave.

meat packing plants are only shutting down briefly to sanitize and reconfigure for safety reasons. Farmers are still hard at work.

Well, we just went over 60,000 deaths from covid in the US. So whoever modeled that it was going to be our death total was way off.

I think any spending will be light, imo. So many people have been without income. But what do I know....I have no desire to go to a mall.

Neither hubby or I will ever go into a nursing home. We have no children to take care of us, like we took care of hubby father.
So, either we can take care of each other, or, it's exit, state right.
Agree. I just updated my Health Care Directive, Advance Power of Attorney and Last Will & Testament. It meant going for a signing at my attorney's office last week, but we each sat at opposite ends of a very long conference table. Witnesses who signed were stationed in the hall outside the conference room looking in the window.

My Health Care Directive has do not resuscitate order, but I've added no ventilation as well. A copy is now with my doctor, and life options advocacy agent as well as POA. They all know.....make me comfortable with morphine drip and let me go.

I agree! And this time, with a second wave, we should know better what to expect. Save money now, people. imo
