From the link:

"Dr. Robert Redfield, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will self-quarantine for two weeks after he was exposed to a person at the White House who tested positive for Covid-19...

Dr. Stephen Hahn, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, also began to self-quarantine Friday after being exposed to a person at the White House who tested positive."
It irks me that we have the technology to do so much stuff with social distancing and yet they act like it’s the Stone Age and they all gotta cluster around each other during a pandemic. They don’t even have to be in the same country, let alone the same room, to accomplish a lot of this. Yet here we are, and how many people outside the WH will end up infected by people who frequent the WH because the WH refuses to follow common sense while telling us to do what they say and not what they do? It’s idiotic. I hope we don’t lose the smart ones.

Thanks. Now I know why the allergy question was not obvious to me.

Most men just get a hair cut without shampoos and conditioning. Please remember that Websleuths is not comprised solely of women. There's a few men here too.

Yes, I know - that's why I went to the trouble of explaining what men might not know about women's services within salons.

Further, most people don't have allergies (although both my adopted mother and my bio-sisters do, and so do I - what a difference it's made to my scalp to avoid those things - I have psoriasis).

When men have psoriasis, if they're keeping their hair fairly short it's way more obvious/visible. My sisters and I have long hair, it's not visible and most stylists haven't noticed the obvious signs (until my daughter noticed and was just open about it - she doesn't have any allergies, btw).

My poor mom would get burn-like rashes from things like licorice root or any form of peroxide and certainly from her beloved permanent chemicals (which today are sometimes called "straighteners" as most people don't want the tight curls my mom, from the 40's, desired).

At any rate, I expect a "better salon" (like one licensed to sell Aveda) to have sent their group to Aveda for training, which includes extensive training about allergies. Aveda makes a product claim that it does not include blah blah allergens and has some products that are right down to the basics in terms of chemicals. So some salons (Aveda isn't the only brand that does this) do take it seriously. They are usually more expensive.

It'll be interesting to see if the more expensive salons survive.

I'm waiting on your hair report Kensie :D

My new hair stylist , me and eSalon, did okay. I have gone from blonde to purple to light auburn color of hair. I am tired of being blonde and wanted to go brunette but was afraid my complexion is too light for brunette so I chose a light auburn hair color. I love it.
I missed a lot of spots because I am no good at coloring hair - but hopefully I will improve. Thinking that I might give myself the shag hair cut tomorrow - trying to work up the courage.

I bet Dr. Seheult will be covering this when published. From link..

The main finding of this study is that after adjusting for the timing of zinc therapy, we found that the addition of zinc sulfate to hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin was found to associate with a decrease in mortality or transition to hospice among patients who did not require ICU level of care, but this association was not significant in patients who were treated in the ICU.

This result may be reflective of the proposed mechanism of action of zinc sulfate in COVID-19. Zinc has been shown to reduce SARS-CoV RNA dependent RNA polymerase activity in vitro [13]. As such, zinc may have a role in preventing the virus from progressing to severe disease, but once the aberrant production of systemic immune mediators is initiated, known as the cytokine storm, the addition of zinc may no longer be effective [17].

Our findings suggest a potential therapeutic synergistic mechanism of zinc sulfate with hydroxychloroquine, if used early on in presentation with COVID-19. However, our findings do not suggest a prophylactic benefit of zinc sulfate in the absence of a zinc ionophore, despite interest in this therapy for prevention. A prophylactic strategy of zinc sulfate should be evaluated to help answer this question.

another combo with hydroxychloroquine:

Let us know how it goes. Remember hair grows if your not happy with it.

I'm not sure if this is COVID19 related, maybe someone can chime in. Hair salons are allowed to open on 5/18 in my area. I booked an appointment online with the same hair salon I've been going to for over a year. I then got an email with a Release Form asking for some medical history.

Here is what they asked for:

Current medications
Surgery in last 6 months?
List all allergies
Medications taken in last 6 months

They also asked on their form what products you currently use and other questions related to hair, waxing, etc. I have never had to provide medical information to a hair salon. I'm a little taken aback by this. Has anyone had a salon ask for this type of information? TIA

ohhhhhhhhhhh, give me their number and I want to make an appointment. I'll list a slew of current meds for my tuberculosis, schizophrenia, ebola, smallpox, malaria, chickenpox, cholera, rabies, Marberg, Dengue. Then list my surgeries for the last 6 months as penile implant, breast augmentation, ............. you get my drift.

That's ridiculous!

I'm fortunate that i can still get my colour from my Stylist, e-transfer and day and time allotted for pickup. Only reason he can do it is because he and his Husband have a massive building. Former Masonic Temple. They live in the top floor so it's their residence. Downstairs is clothing/home decor and salon. Full service spa. When I went to pick up my colour out he came and he had plopped a wig from a clothing mannequin on his head and passed me the bag thru my window on a long pole. It was hysterical. Before all this it was the most entertaining hrs. at my appts. I'm sure he will have some very creative set up when they do open up.

I really hope the winds settle here. Pollen is horrid. My eyes are gunky at times and itchy sneezy nose. Typical for me this time of year. With eye wear and a mask it's really going to be difficult.

I haven't seen even sunglasses. In fact, I noticed today that one guy who wasn't wearing a mask did have sunglasses, but they were on upside down on the back of his neck -- which is a trend way to wear them if you're a hipster. :rolleyes:Personally, I don't think any of it really helps. But that's jmo.
I wear my other sunglasses (not my fashionable ones) the ones that are wraparound with removable foam inserts. Motorcycle type.
My cousin ordered these to try out.

I am sure that all of these people would be willing to get on shuttles and driven directly to the tarmac for evacuation. But SOMEONE has to arrange it. They cannot arrange it themselves. Someone has to spend some money, somewhere. I suppose they could heartlessly only rescue the employees whose credit cards could handle the charges of the plane fare - but really, they should rent a private plane.

The lawsuits an airline would face if knowingly boarding untested employees of a cruise ship would be numerous (should anyone on that plane come down with CoVid - which someone probably will at some point).

Airlines would be willing to provide a jet for very little, for the positive publicity (Delta comes to mind - they would do it, it seems like their corporate policy is in that direction). But SOMEONE has to ask and arrange.

We live in a day when even if Delta has reached out (to whom?) no one is at the top or in charge or knows what to do.

Where do they "disembark immediately"to? I would suggest local hotels, as we've done in California - but the State required the hotel be repurposed just for this quarantine and testing of cruise passengers/employees and the State paid for it.

When the very first disembarkations occurred (before the new policies were signed) the first 60 cruise passengers brought CoVid to many counties, most notably Sonoma, but also my own county and to Long Beach (which ended up with Long Beach being a hot spot - the hospitals tried to quarantine, but there was no PPE and this is extremely virulent).

In short, no one in Florida's power structure wants them to "disembark immediately" (without testing and plans for moving them to their own countries). Further, there's a federal set of rules about immigration - they must be held at the "border" if they are not transiting. They are no longer transiting.

If their employer just bought them all plane tickets - they would be transiting again and I bet HSA would agree to let them go home. Maybe not quickly - but surely...the Federal Government would permit them to use the "transit" clause of our immigration policy?

(And not hold them in camps as if they came from south of the border...although many of them are from south of the border).

The Diamond Princess cruise passengers were quarantined at first on board and then Americans were flown to another quarantine on military facilities for another 14-day quarantine. The cruise lines should use the same protocol for their employees.

I hear you. On the plus side it will keep them away from us.
