Scientists 'undermine Trump's narrative on coronavirus and reopening of the economy'

Scientists 'undermine Trump's narrative on coronavirus and reopening of the economy'

The New Republic reporter Alex Shephard says the reopening of the United States has demonstrated a “split screen of most of the coronavirus response”.

Dr Anthony Fauci was one of several members of the scientific community who testified before Congress, stating the coronavirus was not under control and it would be dangerous to reopen the states.

Mr Shephard told Sky News what tended to happen was the president would champion the economy and push to reopen it while Dr Fauci would be “pouring cold water [on Trump]”.

I think I heard that most medical plans will cover the test IIRC, but you need approval though your doctor. I saw an opening available tomorrow so I didn't want to wait days to find out if it is approved. So I just went to the website and paid by credit card. No doubt the best purchase I have made this week (but it's also the only purchase I've made this week).

What website???????
My daughter-in-law had antibodies test almost three weeks ago and still waiting on results.

I’ve had the Corona virus for five weeks Thursday! Have run fever every day. Luckily I skipped the dry cough and lung problems, however, have had almost all the other symptoms. My doctor has been in constant zoom meetings with me. Finally reached the requirements of my state to be tested, test came back negative! My nurse said they are getting a lot of tests returned negative. This is the new test with a two day turn around. Blood pressure is fine. Have another meeting in the morning. It will be interesting to see where we go from here. Please stay safe. This virus zaps all your strength.

oy vey. Sounds so frustrating. Are they going to do another test with you. The strongest symptom that I just keep hearing over and over is the total exhaustion..as you say "zaps all strength". Please do keep us informed.....

Yes I was the one who posted that article originally :). Sweden has more ICU capacity than Ireland so the article merely illustrates that the Swedish approach wouldn't have worked well in Ireland for that reason. So our lockdown, difficult though it has been, seems to have been necessary.

Yes, and your government seems to have managed it really well. Obviously, in the US, we've got states like New York and New Jersey that totally ran out of beds, and places like Utah, which has come no where near running out of beds (nor has California - although at first we didn't know if we were going to be like New York).

So each small area has to take a different approach. Modoc County, in California, had zero cases last I checked - and a population of something like 9,000...they see no reason to obey California's overall plan and I think the governor quietly just lets some counties do their own thing. He announces hot spots on week day mornings.

Germany has lots of ICU beds per capita, as well. So many local differences. But yes, we are entering a kind of global "pause" due to so many actions being taken. Let's pray that the Sun of Summer helps in containing CoVId - and that the whole world can rethink its need for people to be in indoor offices with recirculating air.

I also worry about the restaurant and entertainment sectors, and retail. Perhaps changed forever.

Exactly. The lockdowns are to prevent an overload on the healthcare system and to make sure enough beds are available.

That goal got lost in the shuffle of information overload. Yes, we want to slow the spread (of any disease or ailment!), but the covid lockdown was needed specifically because the fast surge would collapse our medical system if not slowed.

So comparing coronavirus DEATHS between countries or states isn't really helpful in that regard. The better measurement, imo, would be how well are the hospitals functioning - and are citizens receiving the care they need, not just for the virus but for all medical issues.

This is about indiana, it's mostly Greek to me but down the page is some data about comorbidities. If someone cares to dumb it down for me, have at it.

Rare Syndrome That Could Be Related To COVID-19 Found In Utah Child

Utah will definitely be the state to watch, in terms of Covid19 cases in children. With the youngest demographic of any state.

The other reason, is that Primary Children's Medical Center is located in Salt Lake City, within the huge University of Utah medical complex, and adjacent to a research park that does cutting edge research for many medical companies. I have no doubt that any cases identified will be studied/tracked/ad infinitum.

China to test 11 million residents of Wuhan after new virus cluster

China to test 11 million residents of Wuhan after small outbreak according to state media
by Phoeebe Loomes

State media says every resident of Wuhan will now be tested for coronavirus in a “10 day battle” after a new cluster of cases was detected.
The Chinese city of Wuhan will test all 11 million residents for coronavirus after a small cluster of cases emerged over the weekend, according to state media.

Six new cases of coronavirus have now been confirmed in the city and a report from a state run media outlet The Paper has claimed authorities will now test all of the city’s 11 million residents within 10 days.

You can find available time slots before you decide to purchase.

Questdirect

Once you get to the checkout process, in case others are wondering, you select your date and time. I'm going to buy one for my daughter, who is a nurse.

Just a heads up. A friend just texted me that she ordered Clorox wipes from WalMart.com yesterday - they were in stock and will be mailed.

The acronym definitions were hidden below. First data of its kind that I have seen. Diabetes mellitus appears to be the worst comorbidity condition.
