Bruce Springsteen Slams Donald Trump: Listen

The rock star began his Wednesday (June 17) show by telling listeners that he had originally planned a different program for the week as the country continues to see new cases of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter protests around the nation.

But he wasn't done sharing why he was getting political instead of enjoying the summer with his latest show, noting that more thought needs to be given to the current health crisis. "We will be contemplating on our current circumstances with the coronavirus and the cost that it has drawn from our nation," Springsteen continued. "We will be calculating what we've lost, sending prayers for the deceased and the families they've left behind."

Tulsa Officials Plead for Trump to Cancel Rally as Virus Spikes in Oklahoma

“WASHINGTON — Officials in Tulsa, Okla., are warning that President Trump’s planned campaign rally on Saturday — his first in over three months — is likely to worsen an already troubling spike in coronavirus infections and could become a disastrous “super spreader.”

They are pleading with the Trump campaign to cancel the event, slated for a 20,000-person indoor arena — or at least move it outdoors.

“It’s the perfect storm of potential over-the-top disease transmission,” said Bruce Dart, the executive director of the Tulsa health department. “It’s a perfect storm that we can’t afford to have.”“

[...]

““There’s just nothing good about this, and particularly in an enclosed arena,” said Karen Keith, a Tulsa County commissioner who oversees the area where the rally is supposed to take place. “I don’t want people to lose a parent. I don’t want them to lose a grandma. I don’t want them to lose a family member over this.“”

[...]

““That virus, I guarantee you, will be present at the event — someone will bring it,” said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. “The Covid virus knows no political affiliation. What it does love is large groups, indoors, close to each other for prolonged periods of time chanting and yelling.””

[...]

““Like any other public health official, I’m a little angry,” Mr. Dart said about the rally. “Frankly, I’m afraid for a lot of people. It hurts my heart that we know this is a possibility and we’re doing it anyway. It’s like seeing the train wreck coming.””

Tulsa officials warn vulnerable people to stay home from Trump rally

“"Let me be clear, anyone planning to attend a large-scale gathering will face an increased risk at being infected with COVID-19," Dart said during a press conference. "We want to keep people safe ... if you are part of a vulnerable population, please stay at home."“

[...]

BBM:
“The Trump campaign has said that each attendee will be subjected to a temperature check and offered hand sanitizer and a mask at the door to the 20,000-seat arena, though there is no requirement about wearing the mask.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday dismissed health concerns about the rally, and said anyone attending will assume a “personal risk.”“

Only we'll have to wait 4-6 weeks to see the actual train wreck, since it takes that long for the virus to run it's course, and begin spreading exponentially.

But yet we aren't supposed to talk about being outside screaming for hours because . . . Oh. Outside. There's nothing here to see. Jmo.

The remarkable idiocy of holding a Trump rally in Tulsa - CNN

Nothing more stupid than this. It has all the ingredients for death.

-large groups
-indoors
-close to each other for prolonged periods of time
-chanting and yelling (AKA spitting)
-general disregard for masks
-public restrooms
-a desire to believe this is not what it actually is - the highway to COVID hell

Not political, but if people want to congregate, they should be allowed to do so...at their own peril.

No kidding. Everyone is so worried about what everyone else is doing. Stay holed up, it’s your choice. I’m going to live my life.

“I find it literally incomprehensible that the president, snip...is willing to sacrifice the health not only of the people who attend his indoor rally, but those people who come into contact with the people who attend the indoor rally
,” Sanders, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

“You have public officials in Oklahoma begging him not to do this rally. It is in defiance of what science is telling us is appropri
ate. And the leader of the United States government is defying science in order to hear cheers from his supporters,” Sanders added. “It is incredibly irresponsible.”“

I just do not understand the logic whatsoever, Mags

I am hopeful about vaccines, so right now "longterm" means 1-2 years for me. But 1-2 years without hugging the kids or grandkids is the most depressing thing I've ever faced

I couldn’t have said it better. Sending hugs to everyone here...seems like there are a lot of us struggling right now.
In real life, most of my friends are having some hard days too, emotionally. Not because they feel locked down, but because of the uncertainty that lies ahead.

From this morning's Tulsa World--this answers your question.
"Trump supporters, who were gathering outside of the BOK Center on Tuesday, said they had no fear of the virus. James Massery said he did not worry about COVID-19, a sentiment shared among others there.

“Whether or not I get it, it doesn’t bother me in the least,” said Massery, who is from Preston, a small community about 30 miles from Tulsa. “If I get it, I’ll deal with it ... if it takes me out, it’s just going to make me mad that I can’t vote for Trump in this coming election.” "
COVID-19: Spike in new cases continues Tuesday, as Oklahoma reports another new high

Yowsers. Where does that stand on the scale from "Give Your Head a Shake" to "BatShot Crazy"?

Crikey! Sounds like the protests we've seen all around the country.

Exactly, whether it be a Springsteen Concert, a BLM protest, a Trump rally, an illegal rave or an aircraft flight. Choose your method of infection.

Minus the masks and plus the indoors, sure.

Bottom line is that between opening states up, protests, and rallies, US numbers are going to skyrocket soon.

Springsteen is not going to risk lives having a concert.

Whatever will be will be. I think people are willing to take that risk. That is their choice in a supposedly free country.

IMO

Darwinism at its best. Survival of the smartest. Staying at home, watching the folks on TV. My cat and I discussed the stupidity of it all. We saw a dog wagging his tail, with his tongue hanging out, strutting around...really.

And they could all be on the sofa like us.
