Thanks for the laugh! You are expecting people at Walmart to understand abstract concepts? The cognitive process and functioning...really! Look, these folks are doing well to get to the store.

BTW, I am a "Walmart Shopper".
My favorite store ALWAYS something exciting to see lol!

So question for you all. I have just recently begun venturing out into stores. Prior it was all delivery, grocery included. I have now made three trips. Masked, of course. And hand sanitizer before entering the car after as well as wiping down my groceries. These are the only trips inside of places we have made and the only time I have been within 6 feet of another human. ( we did a driveway visit with the family but over 6 feet away) Anyways....each time I had a small panic attack, mostly due to being overwhelmed by actually being near someone and being inside. In MI we are asked to wear masks in grocery stores but there is always that one that does not and those are the ones that love to get close and show you just how NOT worried they are.
So on to my question: I wear a mask but what about the rest of my body? Do those of you that are very careful and worried about this virus cover the rest of your body and undress and shower after? Please don't call me paranoid! I honestly want to know as I am sure if the germs find their way to a mask then they must find there way to other areas. Say my elbow or knee? I get home and touch it with my clean hands.... What do you all think and how are you handling this? Its a new world this shopping thing and I am almost to the point of going back to grocery delivery...
I walk thru a cloud of Lysol in my front hall, I'm on my 10th and last bottle and very upset about it , I also strip and put clothes in dryer on anti bacterial setting .

I put the groceries on the counter then run out on the deck and strip. Shoes and clothes lay wherever they fell. Run in and wash my face, neck, hands, arms and ankles. Clean all groceries with wipes and put away when they dry. clothes go in the washer after dark. I was really embarrassed a few weeks ago when the Fedex man walked up on the deck and my clothes and shoes were thrown half-hazard on the floor.

Anyone who is angry, this is a good time to go violently scrub your oven. That’s what I’m doing. o_O

I don't think anything could make me that angry.

Why would the mother refuse to be tested ......I feel that word coming on again!!!!!!!

Per the article, because if she had tested positive, she wouldn't have been able to be with her son in the hospital. She would have needed two negative tests, and he was too ill for her to go through all that and would have died without her being there (although I don't know whether she was actually there when he died).

Arizona casinos’ virus safety plan mirrored Las Vegas casinos’; now they’re closed

This doesn't bode well for Las Vegas casinos. In another article, already staff at casinos on the strip have tested positive for Covid-19.

A separate area of the Las Vegas Review Journal has all of the various "specials" for Las Vegas residents. 30% off of salon and spa services...free parking...

JMO, but you couldn't PAY ME to have ANY "salon or spa services". Just saying.

My final appeal.

Ok, in February I advised anyone who was heading to Mardi Gras in N’awlins or Carnival in Brazil to turn back around if you were already enroute (seriously, I did). We saw how BADLY those two events turned out. People DIED.

If anybody reads this, it’s not too late to change your mind. You still have time to alter the course of the future. Ask yourself if it’s really worth it, to never see your grandkids again, or infect and kill someone else. Or be hooked up to a ventilator gasping to breathe. Or suffering any other terrible affliction that this disease can cause. You just don’t know how it will affect you. You could be asymptomatic, or only suffer mild symptoms, or you could be in for the fight for your life.

How risky is it to attend a Trump campaign rally during a pandemic? - CNN

And if you DO go, wear a mask at the rally and afterwards (yeah right).

And if you DO go, please stay at home for two weeks afterwards (Yeah right), so you don’t infect someone else who COULD die or suffer great illness / Don’t go running around town to the store and restaurants and everywhere else/ have some respect and courtesy for other people.

And pleASE get tested afterwards (yeah right).

And pleeeease be very careful about risking transmission to others you love, whether it be your friends or family. If you don’t care about others, strangers, then at least try to help protect those you DO love.

End of useless appeal, but at least I did my best, once AGAIN, to help warn people.

Exactly- there was a breach somewhere: one can only guess- maybe he did leave the house and she didn't know it: maybe on a couple occasions she didn't shower or use strict precautions- none of us know and we never will, but somewhere there had to be a breach: You are right, these articles just don't give full information. It would helpful for the article to go into some depth as to how this young man contracted this fatal disease. That would mean of course the reporter would have to do some digging, which most of them don't do.
Child described as perfectly healthy-yet photos show he was obese (a risk factor for covid). Also, when he showed up in a hospital, he was diagnosed with type I diabetes-again, a risk factor for covid. So he had major risk factors for developing serious case of covid, and unfortunately it happened. Also, even though he wasn't leaving the home, obviously other people in his household were.

Worth consideration ...

My area reopened today and I am sad to have no intentions of going out to a bar or restaurant anytime soon. And here is my reason:

The COVID-19 is transmitted via respiratory droplets. We exhale about 100,000 microscopic droplets per minute.

In my many years of healthcare experience, I've known that patients with airborne transmitted infections were admitted to negative pressure respiratory isolation rooms. Upon entry, we gowned, gloved and put on a mask. And upon exit, those items were disposed of at the door.

All of that said, it's unlikely these establishments will resist the temptation of earning a larger profit and abide by strict social distancing practice, and adequately sanitize the area between patrons. And, I don't even want to think about the possibility of infectious droplets making their way through HVAC systems.

Sources:
Negative pressure room
Droplets in exhaled breath

I would love to go out to eat, but my knowledge and my gut is telling me that it is too much of a risk. So I am open to any information that points to the contrary.

eta: oops grammar

I think about the stability of CV-19 on countertops and other hard surfaces. Especially that new strain. At any rate, a bar counter is just perfect to contain CV and spraying every 15 minutes with disinfectant is not going to be pleasant or relaxing for patrons. They'll swab it before rush hour and after everyone is gone.

Meantime, even with social distancing (which there won't be), those tabletops and countertops will spread CoVid to some. People will forget, brush their hand through their hair, touch their faces, etc.

So I can't encourage you to go out just yet. Wait a couple of weeks.
