No mask at Tulsa rally; no social distancing (or in TX, FL, NC most likely). And, we are to believe there will be no spread. What fools.

It has been reported some of the rally folk believe the virus is a hoax. Sadly some may be about to find out. The next few weeks will be excruciating to watch.
The numbers are already horrifying in many places following mass re-openings and hundreds of thousands of protesters in the streets for weeks on end. This rally won’t help matters, but make no mistake, things are already completely out of control. As a healthcare worker, it’s infuriating to have to sit by and watch all that has been allowed in the last 3 weeks, and all that is being allowed as we move forward.

I get that we cannot stay closed down completely for months or years. But a free-for-all doesn’t seem like the answer either. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard justifying risky behavior “because if it’s ok to have all of these protests, it can’t be that bad for me to take my wife to dinner”, etc.

So we just take in the massive numbers of new cases and new hospitalizations, knowing the numbers are out of control and only getting worse by the day, and we pray a lot that we don’t get really sick taking care of all of these self centered people, or worse, get our families sick.

6 White House staffers doing advanced work have tested (+)
for COVID-19 today.
***Probably Secret Security overseeing the location, but what if it's people who set up the free masks and the tables of waiver forms they must sign to attend?

You can't make this stuff up!!

6 campaign staffers working on Trump's rally in Tulsa have tested positive for Covid-19

Well! Did they bring it with them? Acquired during travel? (500 Delta employees have tested positive, Delta revealed yesterday - I'm sure other airlines are just keeping quiet). Or did they get it in Tulsa? (That would be the least likely option, but still possible - given that they are interacting with business people and government people in indoor settings). When a president visited near where I was working, they contacted every business and residence within a certain radius and all along the travel route of the president (wasn't Trump). They wanted to know who had cameras, what was stored and went on upstairs in buildings of more than one story, and in some cases, asked for areas to have agents deployed on rooftops.

If 100 people went in advance, then 6% had cases. The people handing out the masks are Tulsa people, not White House staffers. The White House staffers were probably mostly secret service, but the advance task forces for presidential visits include a wide variety of functionaries. Someone has to deal with the convention center itself, make sure shipments of promotional materials are received, and then distributed. I suspect they will ask local GOP volunteers to help with that as well.

Right now, with the R Naught rates what they are nationwide, those 6 people have likely infected 6-7 others. Everyone in the group should be tested and wearing masks until they get their results, as should everyone who came into contact with them, especially in their hotel.

hand sanitizer is a waste of time with 20,000 people real close to each other
screaming for hours---
They could need to use it if they visit the toilets. I wouldn't call it a waste of time.

The air in the arena will be RIPE with coronavirus when Trump appears to holler and huff and puff for a few hours!
Moo

Part of me believes he's already had it (hence his taking of hydrochloroquinone). It explains his recent unsteadiness on his feet and his shaky hands (very shaky IMO). This is not political, this is just a citizen observing their president.

But it would explain why he's not concerned about huffing and puffing in a convention center with 20,000 people. Most people will survive CoVid, although...it's often a long time before they feel very well again. It could be a life changer - we just don't know yet. Remember how presidents used to check into Walter Reed hospital if there was even a sign they were sick? Seems like only yesterday. I guess it was the Reagan years - and then there was the time George W. was sick.

Rally-goers' temperatures are allegedly taken prior to entering the arena. What happens if someone has an elevated temperature that is indicative of possible COVID infection? Will they be denied admission even if they have a ticket? Many of the people attending the rally have been waiting in line for two or more days - very few wearing masks, practically no social distancing. I suspect that there will be people trying to get into the event who will have elevated temperatures and could be infected with the virus already. I sense a calm before a major storm...

They could need to use it if they visit the toilets. I wouldn't call it a waste of time.

The point is, even the toilets won't be any less or more infected than the air itself. Toilets will be the least of their worries, as surely they have cleaning staff at that place.

It's the actual stadium seating and the air (especially with so many people perched higher than others, all air flowing downward until recirculated by the ventilation system, where it will persist for hours if not days).

If there are billions of CV virions in the air, then it's going to be on their clothing - on the outside of the sanitizer bottle, etc. On their straws as they sip their sodas.

I'll tell ya what i am doing today, being a fan of horse racing, i watched the Royal
Ascot races this morning---no fans allowed and no queen in her horse drawn
carriage and I will be watching the Belmont Stakes-- the track holds 90,000
fans---none of which are allowed ---no fans--- this is what a sane approach
to a pandemic looks like--this is what a serious approach to a killing virus looks
like- what is occurring in Oaklahoma is a reckless disregard for humanity.

Folks attending have likely been taking Tylenol prior to getting in. IMO

If they hold that convention in FL, it will be beyond denial and edging into completely delusional.

It will be reckless

Indeed. When people say “but the protestors,” I think to myself that the big difference between the spontaneous protests and the President holding a rally and convention inside without social distancing and masks is that he is really the only one in the country, as the leader, who can have a positive influence on people by modeling recommended safe behavior.

That wouldn’t have stopped the protestors (many, many of whom wore masks), but it would set the tone for everyone, including those who resist precautions. The leader of any country, not just the U.S. President, has that responsibility to the citizens to lead by example.
