But you can compare/contrast the readiness and organization in place to respond to a pandemic of any kind. That’s the point of the OP.
JMO
Thank you !!!!!!!!

Aww I see lots of elephants have been getting discovered deceased.. 350 since May. 1 picture showed a herd of them. Experts dont think it is poachers since their tusks are with all the remains. They have yet to rule out poison but seems more likely they have contracted some sort of virus/disease. Just like us humans! All very strangeX

I vote we post this guy's picture next to the dictionary definition of "sycophant". I wonder if he knows how stupid he sounds?

GOP congressman calls for coronavirus task force to be disbanded so Trump “is not undermined”

"As our economy is restored, it is imperative that President Trump is not undermined in his mission to return our economy to greatness. Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx continue to contradict many of President Trump’s stated goals and actions for returning to normalcy as we know more about the COVID-19 outbreak."This is causing panic that compromises our economic recovery. We can protect our most vulnerable from the COVID-19 outbreak while still protecting lives and livelihoods of the rest of the population. It’s time for the COVID-19 task force to be disbanded so that President Trump’s message is not mitigated or distorted.”— Rep. Andy Biggs

That is frightening!!!

You can't have good economy if you have people infected, sick and dying all over the place. With hospitals forced to give patients points to decide which one can get treatment and which one can not.

You really can't compare the two. Ebola causes severe and easily identifiable symptoms. So identifying and isolating is not difficult. Covid-19 can be spread without symptoms or such a mild case you don't know you have it.
Also, Ebola is not airborne and thankfully only spreads after patients start showing symptoms.

I’ve been curious about whether the virus could have been transported in the Sahara dust .

Almost no one lives in the actual Sahara and Sars-Coronavirus-2 requires moisture to remain active. It is not transmitted by dry wind and dust. The dust is coming from the deep Sahara, where sand is degraded to the point of being powdery.

Fog would do a better job of transmitting CoVid, but of course, that would require hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously breathing into a fast-moving fog bank.

It takes a week for the dust to get to North America (approximately) and the virus doesn't live that long.

So no known way for the Sahara dust to give anyone CoVid, but especially not us in North America. If it helps bring down humidity for a few days, that would actually be helpful (but only marginally). It does help keep hurricanes from forming.

There have been concerns that people who get lung irritation from dust might be more susceptible to CoVid transmission from nearby people.

Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia have some of the lowest CoVid rates on the planet, as do Niger and Nigeria. But the actual Sahara Desert has very few people in it, only the coastlines are populated.

I see you beat me too it. However, it isn't fair to blame the Tulsa rally, because apparently he went to the Arizona rally as well.
I wonder how many people from those rallies end up getting infected.

Herman Cain hospitalized with the virus.

But at least he had a good time at the Tulsa rally recently.

This is worrisome. He's 74 years old and a survivor of stage 4 colon cancer. It's a shame people didn't mask up and social distance at the rally to protect him and other vulnerable people in attendance. I hope he recovers.

Hydroxychloroquine lowers COVID-19 death rate, Henry Ford Health study finds

Henry Ford Health System officials report a study done by the health system shows the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine helps lower the death rate of COVID-19 patients.

Heads of the Michigan health system said Thursday the study found the drug “significantly” decreased the death rate of patients.

The study analyzed 2,541 patients hospitalized among the system’s six hospitals between March 10 and May 2 and found 13% of those treated with hydroxychloroquine died while 26% of those who did not receive the drug died...

That’s one less thing to worry about. Which I really need right now! Thanks!

With his health issues and age, why would he go to a rally with no mask and a bunch of other maskless people in attendance?

If you want to know how an outbreak or pandemic should be handled, look no further than the Obama response: it was a national response and the United States took the lead Globally: it has always been done this way with a crisis of this magnitude. It is not a political issue, it is a matter of public health which takes priority over everything. Obama and the democrats left a playbook in place for the next president; they also had a task force at the ready in case of a pandemic, which was predicted for a long time.
A crisis of this magnitude requires the federal government to take charge and coordinate with the states. What we have now is chaos because lack of leadership at the highest level.

The Obama Administration's Ebola Response
You're absolutely right. All countries have a Pandemic Plan in place. In the UK, it seemed as though our Government was just plucking things from the air to try out with us all in March. What they actually were doing, was working off their own step by step pandemic plan. Written and published in 2005 I believe and it can be viewed online. <modsnip: removed political bashing>
