I am astounded. Wink. Not really. Common sense. Truly.
Spike in 30-35 year old people all of a sudden, just about 2 weeks after protests seems obvious to me.
Nonetheless, I don't want anyone, to have to go through the sickness this virus brings.
Family gatherings or protesters. This virus does not care who you are or what you're doing.
It's just damn awful and evil.

That is certainly a factor in California’s spike. But not the only one, especially since most wore masks.
Everything went bad when we opened up. Memorial weekend also really kicked things off. We are facing spread due to all those factors.

I live in Orange County and the 4th is going to be a nightmare. We have legal fireworks around here and people gather in parties to watch. I’m dreading that. I expect to see more spikes in the next month as a result.

Yes Kali. It has been obvious really and it doesn't differentiate as to whom it infects. Safe recovery to all who are infected at this time. Luckily, the health services have learned a lot in the past few months so the prognosis is better for those infected now, hopefully.

We just finished our first week of very relaxed restrictions. Things seem to be thriving. We are very fortunate, so far. Fingers crossed.

SA completes first week of relaxed COVID-19 restrictions

All the sanitiser that we have been using! It is by the door of every place that we enter - if a shop wants to be open, it must have sanitiser available for use by its customers - and we must use it.

I expect the sanitiser-makers are doing well.

So public figures can't have opinions now?

In a pandemic, "opinions" from political figures are not helpful when they undermine the facts that are published by the medical leaders.

Coronavirus: Care home staff and residents to get regular COVID-19 tests from next week

Staff and residents in care homes in England will be regularly tested for coronavirus from next week, the government has said.

Care home workers will be tested weekly, while residents will receive a test every 28 days, according to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

It has also promised intensive testing in any care home facing a coronavirus outbreak or an increased risk of a flare-up.

The programme will be rolled out from Monday to all care homes for people aged over 65, and those with dementia, which have registered to receive re-testing over the next four weeks.

It will then be expanded to the entire care home sector from August.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the government's response to the pandemic "has always been led by the latest scientific advice from world-class experts".

"We will now offer repeat testing to staff and residents in care homes, starting with homes for elderly residents before expanding to the entire care home sector," he added.

If you're interested in comparing, all workers and residents in our long term care, assisted living and nursing homes are being tested every two weeks. To Canada's shame, Ontario and Quebec had horrible outbreaks among the elderly in LTC homes.

It’s now July 2nd, and the total number of nursing home residents in the state of New York who died with COVID-19 exceeds the total number of deaths with COVID-19 among all residents (nursing home or otherwise) of the following states combined:

Florida
Georgia
Texas
South Carolina
Alabama
Kentucky
Tennessee
Kansas
West Virginia
Utah
Montana
North Dakota
South Dakota
Wyoming
Have you got the stats and a link for this. That's terrible, but I have heard that it is as high as 80% in some areas. MOO till I find link.

This link states 26k died in nursing homes. And 80% who have died are 65 plus.

Why the coronavirus has taken so many lives in US nursing homes

Coronavirus: PM says we're through the worst of COVID-19, but warns 'let's not blow it now, folks'

Boris Johnson has said the UK is "very much through the worst" of the coronavirus pandemic, but warned: "Let's not blow it now, folks."

Speaking ahead of a significant easing of the COVID-19 lockdown coming into effect in England tomorrow, Boris Johnson urged Britons to "enjoy summer sensibly".

Pubs, bars and restaurants will be able to welcome customers for the first time in more than three months.

Hairdressers and barbers will also reopen, as will hotels, leisure facilities and tourist attractions.

The move represents the largest relaxation of the coronavirus restrictions since the lockdown was introduced in March.

The PM told LBC: "Tomorrow we come to step three of the plan that I set out on 10 May, that everybody, I think, has understood, or huge numbers of people have understood and followed very carefully and very closely.

"And it's because people stuck to that plan that we're now able to carefully and cautiously open up hospitality tomorrow.

"And my message is really for people to enjoy summer sensibly and make sure that it all works."

Amid worries that large numbers of people could head out as they are off work, Mr Johnson said reopening pubs on a Monday rather than a Saturday would have made "no difference".

Well the medical opinion initially was pants. Because they told us we didn't need masks. They were worried about not enough PPE to go around. I like to hear the political opinions. Especially when they explain the care home deaths.

My advice. Don't go to the pub immediately despite missing it so much for 3 months. Don't go if you are over 65 until the week day happy hours maybe. Take extra care everybody. Drinks in, wits out. Fingers crossed.

Good luck England and Ireland.

Good spot. Some double counting.

Yes I expect so. Do you see my  that the US has had more cases in the last week or so, than the UK has had since the start? And that’s despite the UK testing a greater proportion of the population. Somethings not right.

I am pleased that our two nearest pubs have both decided not to open this weekend. I suspect they’d rather the crowds went elsewhere to spread germs until things calm down.

Good to know they put health before profit.

Our Premier is tough. He still won't let Victorians or NSW people into our state, and 500 police are patrolling the state borders to try to keep them tight.

It is not that we won't let them in ... but if they get online pre-approval they must agree to do a 14-day hotel quarantine when they get here. And that quarantine will be supervised.

My dentist office makes us sanitise at the door, then immediately go to the bathroom and wash our hands as well.

There is probably an excess of distilled alcohol as pubs are closed so it has been put to good use during the pandemic.

Is there a social distancing requirement in the pubs? Not that happily tipsy people will necessarily adhere. Lots of hugs and arms around shoulders when people are a bit tipsy and are happy to see their mates again.

I think it’s meant to be 1 metre, but yeah, I can’t see it happening after a few pints either!

Surgeon General Urges the Public to Stop Buying Face Masks

This pernicious comment from the surgeon general sent this entire country on the wrong path-- The country has never recovered from it. I believe Dr. Fauci also said
no masks: now we know why: Political opinions in and of themselves are not
bad but many of the political opinions we are getting now are downright harmful especially when you have a president who said two days ago "this will disappear soon".

I like to hear all opinions. POTUS and our PM are glass half full guys IMO.
