Honestly, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that anybody would even consider having children going to school during a DEADLY PANDEMIC! These are adult decisions and I have to wonder,. Are there no intelligent people sat in these top seats anymore! Just the thought of "what is going on" drains me! I can't make head nor tail of anything X

Of the 3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States, how many cases are repeat infections? Since we’re working with numbers, do we know there are 3 million discreet individuals?

Arizona Is #1, Bahrain Is #4

There is no country in the world where confirmed coronavirus cases are growing as rapidly as they are in Arizona, Florida or South Carolina. The Sun Belt has become the global virus capital.

This chart ranks the countries with the most confirmed new cases over the past week, adjusted for population size, and treats each U.S. state as if it were a country. (Many states are larger in both landmass and population than some countries.)

And this should be our nation's main priority.

Although how one solves this, at this stage, I don't think anyone knows.

Covid exhaustion, mixed messages, inability to stay with the program for very long .... many reasons for it, I would guess.

I spoke with a US friend last night .... "Many people don't want to hear about covid any more, we are sick of it". Obviously my friend is one of those 'many'.
Amazing that so many have no fear for their safety. I respect the power of this disease. It is absolutely bigger than I am.

This disease is terrifying. What is even more terrifying is the loosening of precautions I see around my neighborhood. Don't understand what people are thinking.
I have to admit that I felt a little down today and started questioning why I am not out galavanting around...My best friend whom we planned a trip this summer we both agreed to cancel...Thanks Facebook!...is on vacation out of state..(!) Nothing like feeling life is passing by...I can see how easy it is to be beckoned to just throw caution to the wind and forget about Covid. I am over 60 btw with another birthday coming up...son has been married only a year, so I want to be around for my potential grands. Sigh.

My father had 3 stents put in today. It was his heart giving him problems. He's doing well. So there is that...

Best wishes for your father's improvement. Take good care of yourself @tabitha111 . IMO, there is no risk worth being sick with COVID. No way do I want the symptoms. No way will I risk being hospitalized, on a ventilator, possibly passing on this disease. Most important I do not want this virus to kill me.

I don't even want a mild case. Wondering every hour of every day is this the day I crash. It has to be terrifying.

Good for your Dad :) Happy upcoming Birthday, and I hope those grandbabies come in good time!
By the way, I loved Bewitched. Any way you can just wiggle your nose and make this all go away? ;)

In Arizona here...still a lot of people STILL with their head in the sand with this...while our governor is a worthless, no, worse than worthless leader, the people themselves...will not stop social gatherings, be it in a bar or a home party. And I for one am tired of trying to protect me and mine while they are out being reckless for all...

Repeat infections are not supposed to be reported separately, but are supposed to be noted as relapse so that the CDC can study it.

Repeat tests are not supposed to be reported separately, either, but attached to the same person, for the same reason (and it appears to me that this is happening, given the studies being published from the data - it's probably not perfect, but close).

Testing. Ppe. Freakin Groundhog Day.

What? Again?

It's like the Twilight Zone - must seem so strange to be watching this from nearby.

The US is going to need health care workers from abroad, but how that is going to work under the current administration...yeah, right...

You surely do have my support - pretty much the same here. A virus has become very divisive. People seem not to slow down the social part until someone they know gets pretty sick.

I just have to ask why “climbing the walls” gives anyone the right to circumvent the safety mandates and put others at risk? Are people really so fragile that they can’t comply? This is tough for all of us, but we need to do what we have to do for the greater good, even if we don’t agree with the governor or mayor. What makes some think they’re so special? I don’t get it and it’s really discouraging.

We ask the same questions, but from the opposite perspective. None of us are demanding, or even asking, other people to leave the safety of their own homes. Not everyone takes what they read in the paper, or hear from government officials, at face value. If you look behind the headlines, and the press conferences, you will usually find a lobbyist (or several). And they can be at cross purposes - see the NYT story, that has been linked several times today, about Arizona, if it were a county, being the worst Covid "hotspot" on Earth. The Governor's office just released a refutation of that story.

Yes but those earlier ones were in cars, a lot of them, nowhere near as large and would have resulted in upticks in May, not the ones being seen now IMO.
I watched many of the BLM protests, and while I agree they probably did lead to slight up-ticks in Covid cases, the main driver, in my very humble opinion, was the way that the protests took place. For instance, I saw (and know through relatives) some of the largest protests in New York City. There was no major increase in cases following these. I surmise it is because so many of the protesters wore masks. Pretty similar to the large protests in Minneapolis. However, in Atlanta, many of the protesters did not wear masks. There was a larger increase there, and probably the unmasked protests played a part. This is just my view, but I think the protests where people wore masks and also those where they socially distanced (in so many of the smaller towns this actually happened) had very little effect on the increase of Covid-19 cases. Masks and distancing can make a difference, and I hope that future protesters do like the New Yorkers. Of course, the small number who engaged in destruction of property or looting, were totally wrong, and should be charged, if they can be identified. All my opinion.

I feel for everyone who has worked hard and given up so much to stay safe while others choose not to. It's so disheartening.
