I've mentioned I live in Texas. For weeks every one of our major cities, Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio have begged Govenor Abbott for the right to enact stricter rules including shut downs to no avail. It's painful listening to our local County Judge beg (he posts his letters to the public) Govenor Abbott to allow local authorities to determine their own course of action to stop the spread and Abbott declines with his usual snark while our daily numbers climb every day. It's a shame that a patchwork of rules is the best we can hope for in this country. What a shame.

Deaths from COVID-19 spike in Alabama, Florida and North Carolina

Deaths from COVID-19 spike in Alabama, Florida and North Carolina

By Lisa Shumaker and Rich McKay

...
(Reuters) - Alabama, Florida and North Carolina reported record daily increases in deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, grim new milestones that mark a second wave of infections surging across much of the United States.

Florida, which has become an epicenter of the new outbreak, reported 133 new COVID-19 fatalities on Tuesday, raising the state's death toll to more than 4,500.
"We must all continue to do our part to protect Florida's most vulnerable and avoid the 3 Cs: closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact settings," Governor Ron DeSantis wrote on Twitter. "Safeguarding the elderly and those with underlying health conditions will continue to be our top priority."

I really hate this for you. First of all, good luck in getting an actual person to talk to. I think, like 10ofRods suggested, an amended return is probably the best way to go. I am certainly not an accountant, just MOO!

Excellent suggestion! Headed to TurboTax to do that right now thank you folks! This place is fabulous

Yes, at least several of us have thought that Trudeau is just going to keep rolling the border closure over for 30 days, and then 30 more days, and then 30 more days ...... until the US gets this virus under control.

Kind of sadly ironic/comical that a border wall between Canada and it's neighbor to the South seems like a reasonable response in this kooky version of reality we find ourselves living through. IMO

Yes, whoever would have thought that we would all need protection against one of our allies?

It is just so unfathomable that what they seem to want is virus-spread, illness, and too many related deaths.

I think they're all in a competition to see who can make the stupidist decision. Winner gets to die! Runners-up get Covid too.

Can you put a stop payment on the check?
That's what I thought, too. It's so easy to get distracted during these times.

A Sydney research expert just spoke on our morning TV. Says they are racing in the research of this virus' effects.

He says:

Different stages of the illness. Day 7 is critical. Marked deterioration (or not, in those that recover better).
Inflamation of air sacs in lungs, sets off a chain reaction which makes patients incredibly sick.

We don't yet fully understand the varying severity in different patients.

Ventilators ... you are in an induced coma, with machines and medications doing the breathing for you.

Shortness of breath, fatigue are short term effects. We want to know the long term effects .... scarring of the lungs, chronic fatigue, glandular fever?

Trying to understand what the triggers are, and the underlying reasons.

36 Lake Zurich High School students test positive for COVID-19

36 students at Lake Zurich High School have tested positive for the coronavirus after a cluster of cases were identified at the school’s sports camps.

The Lake County Health Department said they continue to work closely with Lake Zurich School District 95 after a COVID-19 outbreak was identified among participants of school athletic camps and recent social gatherings.

Lake Zurich School District 95 sent a letter to all athletic camp participants last week warning of the outbreak.

Multiple student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19 following the first day of Lake Zurich High School sports camps on July 6. Several student-athletes also failed temperature screenings at the camp.

Since then, 36 students at the school have tested positive for the virus, the Lake County Health Department announced Tuesday afternoon.

A mobile testing site was brought to the high school on Sunday. 355 people were tested throughout the day on Sunday at the school’s mobile testing site, which resulted in long wait times.

All athletic camps, including football, poms and baseball, remain suspended at the school.

The Illinois Department of Public Health and Lake County Health Department asked all student-athletes who participated in the camps to self-quarantine for 14 days.

I think we all know this going back to school is not going to work. Just waiting until it explodes.
