And there was one report listed of people not social distancing at the swimming pool of a hotel. I notice they don't close down the places or fine them, though, article says they are there to educate and inform.

We haven't really had a lot of leadership for wearing masks. A lot of people don't believe that they make a difference anyway.

Mask wearing should have been presented from the beginning. That horse has left the barn.

Does anyone know who to contact to file a complaint on a hair salon that is not following the governor's mandate for hair salons in the state of Texas ? I contacted the local non-emergency police department number and the phone number they gave me is wrong. I did send an email to the county website, but not sure it's the right place to report this information. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I don't think this is good enough. Visitors should have a recent, negative CoVid test to be allowed inside, otherwise visits should be socially distanced, outside.

In Ohio, the Governor allowed visits at nursing homes to return, but they must be outside.

I am in Ontario and have 2 friends with a Parent in long term homes. Every Family was given pages of protocol. One is a very recent covid test and visits are once a week outside. I'm sure proof of a test will remain once Family is allowed in. No link as this is what my friends have reported to me.

Going back to my first post on thread #7 on February 26, I said that Websleuths is where I come for news when something big happens (wildfire, mass shooting, weather event, etc). The news links posted here from all over are more up to date and comprehensive than I can get anywhere else. So that makes those posting and reading on this thread probably the most informed about the coronavirus/Covid-19 of any non-professional person in the world, in terms of the scope and depth of our knowledge and understanding. So a big shoutout to y0u all!

I have to remember that the average citizen doesn’t have this advantage, and the lack of widely posted PSAs means that their basic knowledge is minimal and probably confined to their local area, assuming they even take in the news. Their actions are based on that lack of information and their ignorance, willful or not. So, as the well-informed ones, we can try to educate others if they want to be, or if not, we have to do all we can to protect ourselves...from those who really don’t care.

Agree, yet if I post any info to educate.. it falls on deaf ears. Folks just don't want to be educated. This am.. I went on a FB page of someone that was an ol' boyfriend just for chits and giggles to see what he said.

Oh my... oh my... he's really into the hoax and no big deal.

I tried for 3 months to put on my FB page... but now, just like here... it's like the abortion issue iykwim... you cannot convince or educate MOO.

Many I am finding don't even care a bit about the science :banghead: The will just go on and on about politics and they won't be told what to do.

In a fantasy, I am going to throw them a pox party. SMDH

Coronavirus: California reports record-high hospitalizations

California hit all-time highs in the number of patients hospitalized or in intensive care unit beds with COVID-19, while county health departments reported 9,522 new COVID-19 cases and 95 deaths on Friday,

The cases and deaths reported bring California to 310,175 total cases and 6,945 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Many of the new cases are in Southern California, led by Los Angeles with 2,620 new cases and 49 new deaths. Riverside County reported 1,431 new cases and four deaths, and Orange County reported 1,133 new cases and 10 deaths. San Bernardino and San Diego counties had the fourth and fifth most new cases in the state, respectively.

California also reported 6,171 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 on Thursday, the highest number ever in the state with the most recent data available. An additional 1,725 patients are hospitalized with suspected but not yet confirmed cases of COVID-19. The 1,777 patients in ICU beds with COVID-19 in California are also a record high. There are an additional 228 patients in ICU beds with suspected cases of COVID-19.

ReOpen Texas Violations
This form is for Covid related complaints in Texas regarding reopening measures.
It is the only one I can find that might help.
There is an email address at the top that I would also send my complaints/questions to.
HTH!

And if we Californians don't change our behavior, the prediction is back to 16,000+ total deaths by end of October. That's with schools reopening partially.

Since they didn't measure beyond 16 hours, we have to conclude that it's at least 16 hours. And it's rather obvious to the world's researchers that this is also an aerosol (micro-droplet) borne illness. Air contains water molecules of various sizes - and aerosolized H20 definitely carries SARS-Coronavirus-2 around in the air. It does not seem to bond to oxygen or nitrogen, but definitely is carried by aerosolized water "microdroplets." In fact, I don't think any scientific publication every said "droplets" were the only form of water carrying the virus.

It can exist outside of water molecules, of course, but whether it easily transmits in a dry form remains to be seen. Early studies seemed to show that the virus could also be carried through very dry air (but the theory was that the aerosols were carrying it - and for far longer times in dry air).
I doubt they quit measuring at 16 hours. 16 hours was the longest amount of time the virus was found. I think 16 hours would be worse case scenario. This was all done in a lab environment.

IMO

My Brother and his Girlfriend left early this a.m. for a cottage up North. They go every year but with 3 other couples. I didn't ask if it was just the 2 of them. Probably not. I didn't want to know. He cant risk getting this virus.

Apparently he can. Don't want to stand in the way of Tradition.

CoVid will end with continued effort and focus on eradication, or it will come roaring back.

It's encouraging overall.
Fingers crossed; *a holiday weekend each upcoming month in Ontario

Small town Ontario,
But hardly anyone stopped at the hand sanitizing station when I was grocery shopping,
and few wore masks,
the cashier wore it under her nose
and the older gent in line removed his mask completely as he wearily hung over his buggy, at the finish line?

I hand sanitized multiple times and Darth Vadered it in my mask the whole treck, and wore gloves at the Instateller machine.

Yet, that's specifically what the research says. From the article:

"(It) turns out the longest time point we measured -- 16 hours, the virus was still alive in aerosols created experimentally in a laboratory environment," Weaver said.

Typically, these things are automated. I'm sure they'll find a way to test for a longer period of time. They probably started out staging it with far fewer hours, and thought all the virion would be gone by 16.

This is the kind of study we need to see. The early research was scant, and not time controlled in the manner of this experiment. This replicated indoor air in a stale room, basically. It doesn't say how many virions were left at 16 hours.

This researcher thinks masks and good ventilation are key.

One more quick vent and then I will stop talking about my family....but....here is an example that happened just today...in the past months, since March...my sisters and brothers have all worn masks, sat outside with my parents (even though they really tried hard to get them to come inside the house) and distanced themselves outside very carefully...sometimes they would just leave stuff on the front porch for them and wave bye as they left.

Today, all has changed. Now they are inside my parents house (mind you after hanging out with quite a few people last night) and sitting in their small kitchen with them looking at a video on a tablet all together..(family video )

This is what happens...and yes, I do feel it in myself...at times, but then I know myself. I would rather sleep at night then not- worrying about if today was the day I got Covid because of my actions.
Sorry to keep on...will stop now...LOL

Las Vegas.

Well, last weekend there weren't many people out and about near the NYNY. This weekend is a different story. It's still not "full on summer Vegas," but I'd say it's halfway there.

Almost no one wearing masks (but the ones who are vary a great deal in age, and it doesn't look like anyone cares that they're wearing them).

People are trying to socially distance on the sidewalks (but the interior cam of the Bellagio's conservatory shows that people are forgetting and walking through other groups or right next to other groups).

1004 new cases in Nevada yesterday (and most of the population is in Vegas). Nevada only has 3 million people total. Both of the main casino towns have high rates of new cases.

Before this surge, Nevada had the typical 5% death rate per case diagnosed. Rt has risen again to 1.26.
