You have to realize the links of the billboards from Kansa, Florida, Louisiana and Michigan are from March and that is what was recommended at the time. They were not recommending wearing masks.

NJ signage, from the state that you claim is doing such a great job is more recent.

Have the billboards been updated to reflect the most current recommendations?

Softball tournament to bring 144 teams from a number of states to St. George this week

ST. GEORGE — The USA Preps Summer Nationals softball tournament is coming to St. George starting Wednesday and will be played at three softball complexes in St. George as well as one in Santa Clara. The tournament is expected to bring 144 teams and more than 2,000 out-of-state players, coaches and parents to St. George, as well as 50 college coaches.

The five-day event, from July 15 to July 19 will welcome in teams from across the western half of the United States. Some of the teams listed on the USA Preps website will be coming from Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada to name some. All of those states are considered COVID-19 hotspots according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Well, it will be an interesting experiment on the young people who do go, I guess. Hopefully the locals will wear masks. Certainly, many of them have been encouraged to do so directly by their church leaders.

Sounds like the organizers are doing a lot to establish a safe environment (but...it's still a lot of young people in an otherwise quiet town).

It will help predict what a partly "real world" college experience will be like in fall. In this event, there will be no live spectators, the parents of the players and others who wish to watch, do so from home, streaming feed.

Ron DeSantis: Florida needs to turn around coronavirus tests faster

“There’s a need for faster results,” DeSantis said at a news conference at Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. “When people go through, a lot of times they’re not getting their results back for seven days. Obviously we want to improve that.”

DeSantis said the state would add dedicated “symptomatic” lanes for potentially infected residents in Orange County and South Florida to get more rapid tests.

DeSantis noted the state is aggressively testing in long term care facilities, and that a low percentage of staffers at those facilities are coming back positive.

Not at all. If you diced yourself up with a chainsaw. Were hospitalized, tested positive for COVID-19, then died of your chainsaw injuries, you are still classified as a COVID-19 death. California and other states as well.

How confident are you that the number of positive cases reported in your region are accurate?

I noticed billboards in my state:

The electronic overhead signs on the Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike say: “Masks Required at Service Centers”

Electronic signs around Newark Airport say: “Out Of State? Dial 511 for Quarantine Status”

I'm not sure that is true. Do you have a reliable link for that?

CO governor gets frustrated.

https://www.newsweek.com/colorado-g...selfish-bastards-extends-covid-orders-1517401

Colorado Governor Jared Polis came under fire this weekend after he called state residents who do not wear masks to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, "selfish bastards."

On Sunday, Polis posted on his campaign Facebook account to remind Colorado residents that scientific studies supported the use of face coverings and face masks in public places to help reduce the spread of the virus, adding: "So if you're a selfish 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and wearing a mask to protect others isn't enough of reason to do so, then maybe protecting yourself is?"

During the announcement, Polis said Coloradans need to do their part to help and "wear a damn mask."
Gosh, I like this guy.

UK How many confirmed cases are there in your area?

Decline in new cases stalls - and concern over hotspots
Across the country, the number of newly confirmed cases each day has fallen since a peak in April, although the downward trend does now appear to have stalled.

On Monday, a further 530 cases were reported.

This is a link to SAGE who make all the decisions for England population 56 million re COVID. I have worked out our deaths per million by nation too and will post that also. Anyway, needless to say our R number is in a pretty good place ATM so watching the US deaths and the R number is important.

Dr. Atlas: Coronavirus surges linked mostly to protests -- and proximity to US-Mexico border

The recent surges in U.S. coronavirus cases can be traced to two key factors -- crowds of protesters and proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border, Dr. Scott Atlas, a senior fellow at The Hoover Institution, said Saturday night.

Most of the cases in the Southwest -- California, Arizona and Texas -- are occuring in counties closest to the U.S.-Mexico border, Atlas told anchor Jon Scott during an appearance on on "Fox Report Weekend."

"When you look in the southern counties of California, Arizona and the bordering counties of Texas -- with the Mexico border -- these are where most of these cases are really exploding," Atlas said. "And then you look at the Mexico map and in Mexico, that's where their cases are. Their cases are in the northern border zone states. And it turns out the timeline here correlates much more to the Mexico timeline of increasing cases than anything else."

More convincing arguments at link.

I mentioned the Mexico and protest connections about a week ago and this guy is basically saying the same thing. It makes sense. NY has placed a quarantine on travellers from other high case states but there is nothing stopping travellers returning from Mexico AFAIK.

I'm confident in my City's numbers. We move to Phase 3 this Friday in Ont. Canada. It's a bit unnerving as a short drive away is staying in Phase 2. I have no doubt they will come to dine in, movies etc. etc.

Yes, it should be unnerving...because yes they will come to your area to take advantage of the opening up. As I’ve indicated before we worked hard to keep our cases really low.....then over the long weekend with lower mainland. ( Vancouver area) and Albertans travelling to Kelowna.in the BC provincial interior to vacation and party there has been an outbreak of now 62 cases ( not the 8 originally mentioned) just over this weekend. I don’t know if they are all in Kelowna or where but it’s a significant rise and a shock. Surprisingly our health ministers premier etc haven’t said too much yet,,,,I suspect they are reeling as they had it so in control..and are now trying to figure out what to do. Bravo, you will have to take good care of yourself....be careful and don’t let your guard down.

Major health crisis as 80 elderly Victorians contract coronavirus

Major health crisis as 80 elderly Victorians contract coronavirus

Sky News Australia

...
Up to 80 staff and residents in aged care homes across Victoria have contracted the coronavirus, sparking fears of a major health crisis.

A 24-bed ward was set up at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in preparation for an expected influx of elderly patients as the virus spread to 24 aged care facilities in the state.
The Menarock facility in Essendon, where 31 infections were recorded, and Estia Health in Adeer which recorded 13 infections were of particular concern for health officials.

Officials believed the source of those two outbreaks came from a worker who unknowingly contracted the virus and attended both facilities while infectious.

New state health advice requires that all aged care workers wear a face mask at all times during their shifts.

Respectfully, Kali, I notice that Birx is now representing the US govt as the medical officer of choice. Instead of them having the MOST respected expert, Dr Fauci, representing them.
This is making the rest of the world (at least here in Oz) wonder why would that be? We are all having our very top gun medical experts speaking with us, on behalf of our govt.

I think that scenerio is pretty unlikely. A Coronor would have to lie on the death certificate, and I can't see that happening. From the article:

"In the normal course, autopsies would then determine whether the person died of the effects of the COVID virus, whether the person had a brain tumor or brain hemorrhage for example that might be unrelated to it and what the relative significance of both the infection and the pre-existing disease is," Baden told Fox News.

However, the number of autopsies being performed could be low due to the danger of infection, he said.

"Then you will include in those numbers some people who did have a pre-existing condition that would have caused death anyway, but that's probably a small number," Baden said.

I haven't changed anything since March when we shut down. Only thing we do is see 1 couple at a time for a yard visit. Our Kids and Spouses outside as well. Oh and I got a haircut/color.
