I finally braved my way out of my apartment for more than simply grabbing my mail. I started thinking that I needed some direct sunlight, or I'd eventually become Vit D deficient.

I shocked myself when one day I took it a step further and abandoned wearing plastic gloves on my short excursions. I try to use my wrist to deal w/ the elevator buttons and such, but to get back in the building, as well as in some of the stores, I need to use my hands. I'm dealing with it.

The last week to 10 days, I have noticed some of the neighborhood regulars not wearing masks. Also, not keeping a safe distance like prior months and weeks. I'm simply just gonna have to deal with it.

If I'm in a feisty mood and anyone without a mask comes too close to me and I feel I can risk it without a big commotion, I say, Hey! I'm old now. Where's your mask? Move away from me!

I am the same as you, assertive. I’ve decided I just don’t want to be around conflict so I’ll stay home, not only to avoid the virus, but also hostile people and anti maskers, etc. If I saw someone bullying a poor store clerk, etc., it wouldn’t go over well with me.

Some people are going crazy over this mask stuff—I saw on the NBC Nightly News last night a guy pulled a gun out in Walmart (link posted above).

Also, did you guys see the Utah group?

Texas has joined California, Florida and New York in a group Friday that no state wants to be a part of -- those with 300,000 confirmed coronaviruscases.

The Lone Star State shattered its single-day record to eclipse that awful benchmark, reporting 14,780 new cases Friday, the latest NBC News tally showed.

And in a sign of how dire the situation in Texas could get, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is sending 14 refrigerated trucks to the state -- on top of the eight FEMA trailers already there -- to store bodies while local funeral homes have been stocking up on body bags.

“The directors I’ve talked to in the last week are at capacity or over capacity, thus the reason they had to bring in the trailers,” Gene Allen, president of the Texas Funeral Directors Association, told CNBC.

Texas eclipses grim benchmark with 300,000 coronavirus cases

The "power" inclusion bothers me - no idea how to prepare for extended power outage. Thinking of all that food in the freezer..........

the only way to prepare for a power outage is with a generator-and they cost a fortune

Florida dad is fighting for his life after contracting COVID-19 from his son

A Florida father is fighting for his life after contracting coronavirus from his son, who tested positive after ignoring his parents' advice to stay home and not gather with friends.

John Place, from Plantation, is currently in the intensive care unit at Westside Regional Medical Center where he was put on a ventilator for more than two weeks.

The 42-year-old and his family all tested positive for COVID-19 last month after his 21-year-old son went out with friends one night and unknowingly brought the respiratory virus back to their home.

The young man, who did not want to talk to the media, had told his father and stepmother that he initially thought he had a common cold and took over-the-counter medication.

When he heard about his friend testing positive for coronavirus, he still didn't think he had it.

But members of the family started to fall ill one by one, starting with his 14-year-old brother, who is also overweight and was wheezing, coughing and lethargic.

The six-year-old sister had only a runny nose. The stepmother was achy, with a fever and chills.

so the selfish twit goes out in a perfect situation to contract the virus thinking he
wouldnt get it-- his mom begged him not to go-- his father could die --

This is awful. :( :( :(

Cognitive dissonance and failure of the educational system, especially in certain locations. Even if you only care about money, it make no sense...The sooner we get numbers under control, the sooner we fully reopen schools. The sooner productivity goes up due to fewer sick people and the less likely it is we have to move backwards in reopening. The sooner we get the numbers under control - like every other reasonable country - the sooner people feel safe dining in restaurants, going to movies, getting massages, and using gyms. The sooner sports audiences come back and the travel & hospitality industries come back. All of this brings back our economy, and including the "luxury" economy that so many poor & middle-class people count on.

It really boggles the mind, and I'm not sure these people care about the economy as much as they say, otherwise they'd get it. It's contrarianism and fragility, and it has been lionized in our culture by those who prefer editorials over news.

Oh, and this guy who got himself elected gov while overseeing his own election (rather than doing the right thing and stepping down as secretary of state): Kemp casts lawsuit over Atlanta virus restrictions in ideological terms The guy who claimed in April that he didn't know it was possible to spread without symptoms. A. Why is he suing anyone for what boils down to protecting the economy AND lives, but B. Why isn't he suing the other mayors in his state for doing the same? Because he got away with so much so far, why not a little more, right? Story of our lives these days.

As late as March 6th, Dr. Fauci was saying that there was no need for social distancing or other mitigation strategies to be implemented across the country, other than in Seattle where there was community spread. Asked about other mitigation strategies, like eliminating more travel, etc., he said that no, we're not there yet as a country. He said that at that time, the White House Task Force was meeting daily, and on the phone several times a day.

Dr. Anthony Fauci: Social distancing not yet needed nationwide to fight coronavirus

Guess I am not sure what you are trying to say here.
Fauci knew everything. He was following the standard protocols directly with WHO and the CDC.

I know back then, there were people saying it was going to be a great miracle and would go away. And when we had 20 cases it was going to go from 10 to zero very soon.

EVERYONe was saying no masks in the beginning. We all do know that. !) They were following WHO, and 2) All masks had to go to health care..
I find it hard to follow your revisionist history.

Not testing actually can kill. Why didn't they test her when she first showed up at the hospital? Still not enough tests? Viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia are not treated the same, so obviously testing her was important.

kinda takes the fun out of it!!!
NBA and Disney. If anyone can do this right, they can.... If they shut down it will be a terrible blow.

Yes, that's how you get around any power outages. Canned food doesn't have to be refrigerated. I stocked up on canned soups. It's both liquid and food at once. And I don't really want to eat them, so they are perfectly safe until the need arises to eat them. Because if you stock up on good things you actually want to eat, they are gone sooner rather than later.

i dont eat canned food except for tuna-- but it will be important to have
canned goods around the house for emergency

Actually, my posting of the interview with Fauci on the Today Show on March 6th was part of a discussion here about the revisionist timeline that some in MSM were writing about again about the early days of COVID-19. You might understand it better if you read the post in its context on this thread. JMO.

Hi Seenit,

Imo, it’s the same things we were talking about in Feb:

1. Make sure you have your prescriptions ready to go / try to get a 90 day refill prescribed and get it now. This will ensure you don’t have to go to the pharmacy, or face any possible shortages. Also see if your pharmacy delivers.

2. Have your pantry stocked with shelf stable goods that can sustain: soups, broth, rice, beans, pasta, sauces, condiments. I say condiments because they help give some excitement and variety to the banal. And if you have a ready made sauce, it’ll suffice for no fresh ingredients.

3. Have an extra bottle of bleach on hand. We know this kills the virus, and it goes a long way, better than wipes, imo, which are hard to find anyway. It can be diluted and you can get a whole bucket out of just a little bleach, with the proper ratios.

4. Have all your pet goods, including food, treats, chews and medications. (I say chews/bones because I forgot those the last time and my dog was not happy).

5. Get any over the counter things you need, a big bottle of Tylenol, tums, pain cream, etc.

6. Have minimal toiletries- soap, etc.

If you slowly try to get these, say a few extra cans here and there when you shop, then there’s no hoarding going on and less strain on supply chains when stuff hits the fan. It’s also economically easier than having to suddenly buy a bunch of stuff. Plus, you can get it now while it is available.

I’ve realized since March what I do and don’t want to live without. I’ve realized I don’t want to live without cheese and mustard lol, especially if I’m stuck eating sandwiches all the time. I think this is what you should think about: what can and can’t you live without. If you are stuck in your house during the cold months, what will you want? I have some extra teabags and coffee. I’ve also learned certain things don’t last around here, like some snacks, so I’ve been focusing on more “meal based” items for “sustenance”.

I learned potatoes were impossible to find. So the past month I’ve bought potatoes, boiled, chopped and frozen them in small portions. This way I can just grab a small portion for soup, stew, casserole, hash browns or mashed.

I have 4 stackable containers in my freezer. Each container has a pack of bacon, a pack of cheese, a pack of tortillas, a pack of lunchmeat, some meat, vegetables and potatoes.

I also have bought things like minced onion, garlic powder, etc. should fresh produce be a problem.

I wonder if toilet paper will become extinct again. I’ve gotten a couple extra packs of those now while it’s available, just incase.

These are a few thoughts. If I think of anything else I’ll tag ya. :)

i love salmon patties-- so i buy Demings Red So keye

Blood types and coronavirus: Are certain types more vulnerable to Covid-19? - CNN

@mickey2942 , you’ll be happy to see:

BBM:
“However, some studies have people wondering if blood type affects coronavirus risk. One, for instance, suggests that people with Type A may have a higher risk of catching Covid-19 and of developing severe symptoms while people with Type O blood may have a lower risk.

A study published this week counters some these early findings, a reminder that scientific discovery is an evolving process. Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital published a study Thursday that found no evidence that blood type affects whether someone develops severe symptoms (defined as intubation or death) from a coronavirus infection.”

.

As each new learning comes about it is all coming together.

The youtube lecture below is one of the best, and does cover the connection to blood types.. mOst doctors are now in agreement regarding effects of ACE2, and the creation of oxidative stress at the cellular level. If you get the true understanding of his diagrams AND the role of vWF.... it will truly show WHY there is the connection to blood types. AND why obesity is such a comorbidity.

Truly good to understand vWF--von Willibrand Factor, and how it is killing folks.
